Like... its Thursday Thirteen Again...

In honor of the 20 year anniversary and the re-release of one of the 80's greatest films (it was re-released on the 29th - what? you don't have yours already? I bet secretly some of you do).

Thirteeen Things about Pretty In Pink!

#1 Kristy Swanson (you know the chick that was in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Movie) was the one that lusted after Duckie at the prom.

#2 In the last seen where Blane kisses Andie - that ain't his real hair ya'll - he's wearing a wig. (why you ask? see #3)

#3 There was an alternate ending where Andie chooses Duckie over Blane. Test audiences didn't like it so they had to re-shoot the ending. Andrew McCarthy (you know, Blane) had already shaved his head for another movie - so that is why he had to wear the wig.

#4 Andrew Dice Clay plays the bouncer outside Cats (the bar) who befriends Duckie but never lets him in.

#5 The dress that Andie "made" out of bits and pieces of other dresses is MIA. It was sold in a movie prop auction and its whereabouts is unknown (that's cause its hanging in my closet ya'll - hehe....shhh don't tell).

#6 Anthony Michael Hall (you know Farmer Ted from Sixteen Candles) was originally offered the part of Duckie - he turned it down.

#7 Robert Downey Jr was also considered for Duckie before Jon Cryer got the part.

#8 I *heart* the Duckman.

#9 Gina Gershon and Dweezil Zappa also had bit parts in PIP.

#10 If you Leave - you know the song played at the prom - was not the original choice for the ending song. It was supposed to be Goddess of Love, but since the ending changed - so must the song.

#11 Duckies first name is Phil

#12 The record store that Andie worked at was called Trax and Iona was the coolest boss EVER!

#13 Taglines for the movie were: Blane's a pretty cool guy. Andie's pretty in pink. And Ducky's pretty crazy. OR the other one...He's crazy about her. She's crazy about him. He's just crazy.

And so for you my TT friends - there you have it, some little known facts about one of the decades greatest movies. And, you really didn't think I would let you go without singing Psychedelic Furs now did ya?
