Where did it go? and other randomness

Ummm its Friday already. When did that happen? As long as last week was, this week went zooming right by. Its going to be a busy day today. We have an event tonight for work and being in HR I have to help with the prep work (actually we have been working on this event since November). So I will be taking my "event clothes" with me to work. I am leaving the office around 2ish to start the prep work at the venue. It doesn't make sense to stay there untill 5ish rush home (during rush hour after a snow day Thursday - could be ugly) and then rush back to be there by 6:30. So I am taking my stuff to just get ready there. Makes more sense.

I don't have any real plans again this weekend. I am sure that I will find something to do. Even if that something is just be lazy.

Comfort food - good for the soul...not so good for the size of the bootay. That is my PSA for the week.

Sooo......whatcha doin this weekend? Don't know? Well, you may not know what you are doing but I am sure you will be singing this little ditty while you do it.....*snicker*....A little Boys Don't Cry....I Wanna Be A Cowboy

Riding on the range,
I've got my hat - on,
I've got my boots - dusty.

I've got my saddle
On my horse.
He's called....T-t-t-t-t-trigger
Of course.

I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy

Riding on the chuck wagon,
Following my man.
His name is Ted,
Can you believe that?
(Ted, oh Ted fighting off danger)
Camping on the prairie
Plays havoc with my hair.
Makes me feel quite dirty,
Though we all do sometimes

I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy

Looking like a hero,
Six-gun at my side,
Chewing my tobacco.
Out on the horizon,
I see a puff of smoke.
Indians on the warpath,
(White man speak-em with forked tongue).
Or not.
I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy

My name is Ted,
And one day I'll be dead yo yo

Can I take a Mulligan on that?

Yesterday morning.....stuck! It started by me resetting the alarm clock for just a wee bit later. I knew what I was going to wear. In my mind my morning was planned out and nothing would hurt by me resetting the clock. So when it goes off, I get up shower, dry my hair....all is right with the world. I go to the closet to get my khaki pants (it is important you know they are khaki) and proceed to take them off the hanger, unfold them and there is it.....blue ink.....all.over.the.pocket.area. That was it. The switch flipped and nothing went right from there. What was I going to wear? I wasn't prepared. Now I have to change the shirt too. Then, as I was running around like a chicken with her head cut off.....I log in and double check my work calender. I have an interview at 8am! Crap! I am going to be late. I snap at the teenage daughter. I snap at every body.

I get in the car and head out only to have traffic in places I normally don't have it. CRAP! I make it to work with 2 mins to spare for my appt. Whew. Then I start to calm down.

I now know I (and everyone else around me) was suffering from PMS. Cause if I suffer....then they suffer.

The rest of the day was fine. I apologized when I got home and decided I would just take a Mulligan on that one.

Its kinda like a drug.......

ok...its an addiction so yeah....it IS a drug. My craftiness. I can just sit and look at my goodies and be happy. Sort of my own little nirvana. But to be able to actually play with them.....say it with me now "aaahhhhhhhhh".

I played a little this weekend and I soooo ready to play some more. If I won the lottery....I would soooo open a crafty store just so I could sit and look at the goodies all day....then when I am tired of looking at them, I would give them away and then....buy some more!

So, what is your addiction.....if won the lottery what would you do? (and ummm travel and all of that is a given...gimme a unique answer mmmkay?

Soooooo........what did you do?

Did you do your RAK?? I did. This weekend I headed to Costco to get a few things - some I needed, some I didn't. As usual custom, I got a soda before even going in....because....of food samples. I have to have something to wash it all down. Anyway....as I was standing in line there was a woman in front of me with a young child...maybe 3 or 4 and she had her hands full. She was ordering lunch (hotdog, soda, smoothie and something else, I forget). As she was holding too many things in her hands while trying to keep an eye on the kid, she realized she was short....by a dime. Now she did ask if they took credit/debit cards at the concessions - which they didn't. Then she turns around with that "please help me or I am going to...(insert word here)" looks. You know the look. The look of a Mom at her wits end. So as she was looking me with that look she asked if I could spare a dime. I was already digging in my purse before she even asked. It was a dime. If that is all it took to help make her day a little better then I was more than happy to give it. Just a dime. Meant very little to me. Meant a lot to her.

And I was also given a RAK by my neighbor across the street. See, it snowed Friday night. About 3 inches or so. Not a huge amount. But being that this was a lazy weekend, the driveway didn't get shoveled. Late Saturday afternoon, my neighbor came out and snow blowed his drive....then proceeded to come over and do mine. For no reason other than #1 it needed to be done and #2 he likes playing with his snow blower. Such a nice thing to do. It was fun for him, meant a lot to me.

The weekend itself was pretty lazy. Lots of eating bad stuff that was full of fatty goodness and had absolutely no nutritional value at all. All.weekend.long. Watched a lot of TV, played games, played in my crafty room. I started working on my new little crafty project and I like it. I am hoping to make it part of my Easter cards this year. That is of course if I can figure out the rest of the design.

That was my weekend....how was yours?

All within 2 hours....

Yesterday a total stranger gave a me a random act of kindness by handing me a coupon for a free sammich at Quiznos as I walked in. He looked at me and said "here I think you dropped this" and smiled as he and his wife/girlfriend/whatever were waiting for their order. How nice. Random Acts of Kindness (or RAKs) are totally cool right?

Fast forward 2 hours.....someone I have known for over half of my life totally dissed me. At the Wild game some friends (not mine) came up to say hello and chat. I was totally ignored. There was not simple introductions. It was like I wasn't even there....rude much?

So, my assignment for you dear internets is to go out this weekend and do a small RAK for a total stranger. Something simple (like the coupon I got). It doesn't really take lots of money if any at all. Do your RAK and then come back and tell me what it was.

It was a good day

Yes, I walked into a mound of paper. Yes, I had class without even knowing who was there and what jobs they were filling. But, it was good. The class had some really great people in it and they made it fun. Orientation in rarely fun.

Today starts the digging out process but I have a plan. I sort of mapped it out yesterday before I left and now I just go in and get it done. I have a few things that I need to be updated on - that is most likely happening today.

Being that it is a short week I am confused as to what day it is. This will be the case until the weekend when I straighten back out.

I watched AI last night....well I watched it off and on. I couldn't get into it just yet. Maybe next time. I don't have a favorite yet. Maybe that is my problem.

Cheeky who has a fresh cup o joe in hand and ready to take on the day!

Its going to be a busy day

I am not quite sure what the day holds for me today but I know I will be super busy. Since yesterday was a holiday today is orientation day. I don't know how many will be in class and I am sure that none of their pre-employment paperwork has been done since I was out unexpectedly next week. I don't know if my assistant was able to get all of my new orientation packages completed. I don't know how many "new" applicants have come in and how many "new" positions are waiting on me. I don't know how full my mail box (email and paper) will be. But you know what.....I am sorta looking forward to it. I work well under pressure. I tend to go "in the zone" and get it done. Of course with there being orientation, most of the paperwork will be waiting until Wednesday but that is fine too.

I was domestic yesterday. I not only did laundry from the trip but I also made dinner for Monday and prepped EVERYTHING for Tuesday (minus the smashed taters but that doesn't take long) so all that has to be done is to throw it in the oven.

I have also found a new little crafty thing. This one isn't expensive and can be quite elegant. I am going to look into it a little further but I am sure at some point ya'll will be seeing the fruits of my labor. After spending a week in the warm sunny weather it sorta got the juices flowing and I am feeling a little crafty mojo.....lets see if it sticks.

Cheeky who is singing a little Huey Lewis and the News.......

Some days won't end ever and some days pass on by,
I'll be working here forever, at least until I die.
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't
I'm supposed to get a raise week, you know damn well I won't.

Workin for a livin (workin)
Workin for a livin (workin)
Workin for a livin, livin and workin
I'm taking what they giving cause I'm working for a livin.

Hey I'm not complaining cause I really need the work
Hitting up my buddys got me feeling like a jerk
Hundred dollar car note, two hundred rent,
I get a check on Friday, but its all ready spent.

Workin for a livin (workin)
Workin for a livin (workin)
Workin for a livin, livin and workin
I'm taking what they giving cause I'm working for a livin.

Ooh, workin for a livin
Ooh, taking what they giving
Ooh, workin for a livin
Ooh, ooh

Bus boy, bartender, ladies of the night
Grease monkey, ex-junky, winner of the fight
Walking on the streets its really all the same
Selling souls, rock n roll, any other day

Workin for a livin (workin)
Workin for a livin (workin)
Workin for a livin, livin and workin
I'm taking what they giving cause I'm working for a livin.

Workin for a livin, livin and workin
I'm taking what they giving cause I'm working for a livin.
Workin for a livin, livin and workin
I'm taking what they giving cause I'm working for a livin.

Things I have learned

First of all - thanks for your kind words and condolences. Big O was definitely one of a kind and will surely be missed.

Secondly, while here in NC I am also visiting with my family. Along the way, someone has been doing some digging into the family history (which if you have EVER seen a soap you know that this can't be good right?). Well, it seems, that at some point in time, one of my long lost relatives had the genius to name one of their children Cleophus. Yep.....read it again....Cleophus. Good thing manchild already has a name cause I would for sure be naming him this....being that it is a family name and all. Be sure to use it for your offspring too.....I won't mind.

And Grace Will Lead You Home

Today, Monday, February 9, 2009 my father in law, we affectionately called "Big O" was called home. He was as true and genuine as any person I have ever met. Thinking of him now I can't help but smile. In all the years I have known him (almost 20) I think I saw him get mad maybe once. Just once in all that time. If ever you didn't have a smile, just go sit by Big O, he would give you his. There are so many things that I could say about Big O....but I think the greatest is that he loved and was loved in return.

Today, we weep at his passing, but the Angels are rejoicing. He once again gets to see his Dad and family that passed before him. And one day, God willing, we will see him again.

This song is in honor of my father in law. This is his favorite song and everytime I hear it I always think of him. Big O - I am singing this one for you.

Weekend update

So this was a decent, didn't do anything but be lazy weekend. I tend to like those these days. Boring = good. But actually it really wasn't that boring. Friday night I got caught up on some Y&R....ummm Brad died? Why wasn't I told? I mean really people, I have to work and these are things that a Cheeky needs to know mmmmkay? So when something important like that happens let a girl know from now on.

Saturday took the manchild to see Pink Panther 2. It was decent. Few laugh out loud moments. Then Saturday night watched a couple flicks from Netflix. They were so-so. Ok movies I guess but I am glad I watched them on Netflix instead of going to the theater. I watched Traitor and Deception. Ok flicks but nothing to write home about. I am ready for my next two.

Sunday.....I was laaaazy. I mean lazy. And it was nice. But then something happend again....I got the urge to exercise. I really must investigate what is going here....and why am I listening to it????

Its going to be a long week again I am afraid. But that is ok....job security right? As I was goofin around I did come across a little ditty for ya.....its a classic....sing along with me.....

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone
Do you know what you want? you dont know for sure
You dont feel right, you cant find a cure
And you're gettin less than what you're lookin for

You dont have money or a fancy car
And you're tired of wishin on a falling star
You gotta put your faith in a loud guitar

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone (oh yeah)
God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone

Now listen...
If you wanna be a singer, or play guitar
Man, you gotta sweat or you wont get far
Cause its never too late to work nine-to-five

You can take a stand, or you can compromise
You can work real hard or just fantasize
But you don't start livin till you realize - I gotta tell ya

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone
God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone

God gave rock and roll to you (to everyone he gave the song to be sung)
Gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to everyone

God gave rock and roll to you (to everyone he gave the song to be sung)
Gave rock and roll to you, saved rock and roll for everyone
Saved rock and roll

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone (oh yeah)
God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone

I know life sometimes can get tough! and I know life sometimes can be a drag!
But people, we have been given a gift, we have been given a road
And that roads name is... rock and roll!

Now I lurves me some Etta James. Lurve it! Have me an Etta James CD and listen to it all the time. I also lurves me some Beyonce. I have downloads (that I paid for thank you very much) and I have seen her in concert and she really is great.

But for some reason.....when I read that story I just cracked up. Etta's got some spunk for an old lady! Think they will put the fight on pay per view??? Bwhahahaha I crack myself up.
