Bad Memories

Yesterday something happened that brought back some scary memories for me. Two of the little hellion children that live in this neighborhood came to the door looking for a little boy - we will call him T. They asked if I had seen T, I said no and asked why. They said he was missing and that her mom had just called the police. Man child was in his room and I called him down to see if he had seen T while he was riding his bike earlier. He said no. The hellions left.

That reminded me of the fear that I had on the man child's very first day of school here. We live so close to the school (I can see it from my front door) that he walks. I asked him, do you know where you are going? He said yes. I said, do you know how to get back home? He said yes. Not wanting to be over bearing on his first day I let him go. So then its time for him to come home. He isn't here. Hmmm maybe he was playing with the kids on his way or maybe he was walking a little slow. I wait and wait and wait. No man child. I call teenage daughter to walk down the street to go look for him. Then my phone rings. On the other end of the line was a man who said and I quote "I have your son". Did your heart just skip a beat? Mine went into failure. I said excuse me? and the man said my name is blah blah and your son is lost. Ummm you couldn't have said that first before sending me into cardiac arrest by telling me you have my son?! Apparently, man child turned right when he should have went left when coming home. Luckily, he knew his phone number. The man that called was a worker that was in the neighborhood and so the lady of the house he was at talked to me and we figured out where each other was (I had only been here like 3 weeks and every street in this neighborhood has the same freakin name). Nice intro to town don't ya think?

Anyway, T was found. It seems that the lady that called the police was supposed to be watching him. He ran over to his house and so his parents took him with them wherever they were going and failed to tell the lady that was supposed to be watching him. Or maybe they did it to teach her a lesson not sure either way, I really don't care either. The parents came home with all these people in the yard and cops everywhere and little T comes bouncing out of the truck with them. I am glad that little T was safe and sound though.

I Promise.....

I promise that I will be better about blogging next week. Just been in a funk (or a little Funky as Mr. Fab would say).

BUT today IS a new day - a new day in which I can wear my snazzy sandals because it is like 60 degrees outside and I have my windows open and me and the cats have had our faces in the open window breathing in the fresh air (hmmm wonder what the neighbors think this strange southern person is doing in the window with her cats?) AND - I have been really good about going to the gym regularly (even with the painful blisters). AND tonight I am treating myself and going to Texas Roadhouse and me some RIBS ya'll!!!! You know the kind that are sooo tender they fall off the bone and they are drippin with sauce? Yeah, those! (I will walk longer on the treadmill tomorrow so just shut it mmmmkay?)

OH!! I can't believe I forgot to tell ya'll this - let's just blame it on the funk mmmmkay? Teenage Daughter made the JV softball team at school. Last year as an 8th grader she played on the 9th grade team. This year as a 9th grader she is playing JV. Not too shabby! She gets her uniform today so I will try to get her to model it and take some pics. So give her a shout out and show her some love - she has been feeling a little neglected on the blog.

ONE WEEK AND ONE DAY until this blinding white skin hits the beach. Wanna place bets on how fast I am gonna look like a lobster??? Come on you know you wanna play!

Cheeky - who was a sucker and paid for a 3 month gold membership on classmates and has been sending old friends lots of messages. So, in honor of my highschool days - I leave you with a little Digital Underground.....(yeah Kelly - this is for you LOL)....

All right!
Stop whatcha doin'
'cause I'm about to ruin
the image and the style that ya used to.
I look funny
but yo I'm makin' money see
so yo world I hope you're ready for me.
Now gather round
I'm the new fool in town
and my sound's laid down by the Underground.
I drink up all the Hennessey ya got on ya shelf
so just let me introduce myself
My name is Humpty, pronounced with a Umpty.
Yo ladies, oh how I like to hump thee.
And all the rappers in the top ten--please allow me to bump thee.
I'm steppin' tall, y'all,
and just like Humpty Dumpty
you're gonna fall when the stereos pump me.
I like to rhyme,
I like my beats funky,
I'm spunky. I like my oatmeal lumpy.
I'm sick wit dis, straight gangsta mack
but sometimes I get ridiculous
I'll eat up all your crackers and your licorice
hey yo fat girl, c'mere--are ya ticklish?
Yeah, I called ya fat.
Look at me, I'm skinny
It never stopped me from gettin' busy
I'm a freak
I like the girls with the boom
I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom
I'm crazy.
Allow me to amaze thee.
They say I'm ugly but it just don't faze me.
I'm still gettin' in the girls' pants
and I even got my own dance

The Humpty Dance is your chance to do the hump
Do the Humpty Hump, come on and do the Humpty Hump
Do the Humpty Hump, just watch me do the Humpty Hump
Do ya know what I'm doin', doin' the Humpty Hump
Do the Humpty Hump, do the Humpty Hump

Conversations

OK I am still in a bit of a funk but you know having conversations with your kids can certainly do their part in bringing you out - if only temporarily.

Let me set the scene. Sylvester, my screaming cat, has had a serious case of gas this week and lots of using of the litter box. Let me tell ya this cat is RIPE! I mean seriously RANK!

Two days ago, man child comes home from school and is in his room changing and petting Sylvester. I am in my office (beside his bedroom) working and I hear ....."Ewwww Mom!..... Sylvester just farted in my face...and it STINKS!" OK I know, its wrong, but I couldn't help but laugh. I mean really. It was just funny.

Then later that night, The man child and I were all snuggled up in my bed watching Narnia. Sylvester crawls up under the covers from the foot of the bed (he likes hanging out there even during the day - you walk in and see this lump at the foot of the bed - its the cat.) So, man child and I are talking and decided to go under the covers to pet the cat. No sooner than we get back on the pillows and settled in, there is that smell.....

Cheeky: Man child, I think Sylvester just pooted again
Man Child: How do you know?
Cheeky: Cause I can smell it
Man Child: Well does it smell like a juicy one? or one that just goes "whoosh" (referring to the silent but deadly type)

You know, there really just nothing like laying in bed with your kid talking about farts.....good times.

Still in recovery

You know, going to the accountant should not be so traumatizing. I mean seriously. I was so traumatized I couldn't even enjoy blogging for a few days. It was not pretty, not pretty at all. Now I know some of you are saying "Oh how bad could it be?" Why don't you take a guess, and I will tell ya if you are close. ITS UGLY.

Oh and ICL - girl you completely made my day. Really. I got your card on Saturday (how appropriate) and put a big ol smile on my face. It also made Mr. Cheeky say "who is sending you cards?" hehe

If you own Kitties.....

You must get yourself one of these......

Seriously, you have to get one. What is it you say? Its a litter robot! After the kitty goes tinkle or poos then it will automatically cycle cleaning out the clumps and leaving clean litter behind. The clumps drop down into a lined drawer in the bottom so all you have to do is open the drawer and remove the bag. No more manual scooping. So now I have to robots that reside at Chez Cheeky - the Roomba robot vac (which is working right now and I love it) and my Litter Robot. Now if I can just get a robot like Rosie from the Jetsons I will be all set!

The man child graduated from Green Belt to Purple last evening. It was a big graduating class.

Heading to the accountant this afternoon. I am afraid it ain't gonna be pretty ya'll. So.Very.Afraid.

Its just another Manic Monday

Ok well its another Monday where I didn't want to get out of bed. Daylight savings SUCKS! Yesterday was sort of a lazy day. I decided to go shopping until it was time to go and pick up this......

My new bling!! I love new bling. Its home will be on the right middle finger so if you are a bad driver and you make me mad - I will be able to show you my new bling and flip you off at the same time - how is that for multi-tasking?

The man child is now totally hooked on Warcraft III after playing at the dinner party a few weeks ago. Totally hooked!

Saturday night we played cards with the neighbors and my new name is now "Woman". We were telling stories and I was telling them how the man child likes calling me that. He came in the room and I said "Man Child - tell them what you say to me when you get up in the morning" Without even thinking he said "Make my breakfast Woman!" and its the emphasis on woman that is funny. Now I know he is playing and not being disrespectful so I let him get away with it. So the rest of the night everyone at the table was calling me "Woman" hehe.

Long Distance Request and Dedication

OK so ya'll know that I usually don't blog on the weekend but I have decided to start something new. I am a child of the 80's and as such grew up with the weekly top 40 (the original with Casey Kasem not Casey wannabe Ryan Seacrest) on the weekends and LOVED it! So, as I was doing my daily torture on the treadmill yesterday and listening to my ipod I decided to start this. Each week I will send our YOUR long distance request and dedication. Here is how it works: Email me with your request (the email is on my profile - if this gets popular I will create an email just for this), and I will send it out. Please make all requests via email and not in the comments section, we don't want to tip people off as to what is coming next week and spoil the fun now do we? It can be annonymous or you can give your initials, name, alias, whatever. Tell me the song you want to hear and why (love, hate, revenge, the possibilities are endless). Each week I will choose one maybe two and put them here for all to enjoy. This could be really fun ya'll but you have to participate to get this thing going. I hope to have a banner soon that you can put on your blogs as well to promote my little hobby. So what do you think? Think it will work? Let me know in the comments if you like it or not.

Let's start this week out with two little ditties of my own choosing. I am going to keep who they are meant for a secret for now but if they read this (which each one does on occasion) they will know its for them.

So here it is - the very first long distance request and dedication - Bon Jovi's Last Cigarette

Regrets are all you left, on your lipstick stains
Take a picture of our past there in that ashtray
We had our fun, I used to light your flame
Like the dancing smoke that rose we tried to find our way

No one told me, she told me

Your love's like one last cigarette
Last cigarette, I will savor it
The last cigarette
Take it in and hold your breath, hope it never ends
But when it's gone, it's gone
The last cigarette

Just to breathe reminds me of what used to be
The smoke's the ghost that keeps you close when I can't sleep
Don't ask the past to last, it's about to change
The memories don't answer when I call your name

No one told me, she told me

Your love's like one last cigarette
Last cigarette, I will savor it
The last cigarette
Take it in and hold your breath, hope it never ends
But when it's gone, it's gone
One last cigarette, last cigarette
One I can't forget, the last cigarette
Right there at my fingertips, got your taste still on my lips
Right or wrong
You're still gone, gone, gone

No one told me, she told me
You always lose the girl in a Brian Wilson world

Your love's like one last cigarette
Last cigarette, I will savor it
The last cigarette
Take it in and hold your breath, hope it never ends
But when it's gone, it's gone
One last cigarette, last cigarette
One I can't forget, the last cigarette
Right there at my fingertips, got your taste still on my lips
Right or wrong
You're still gone, gone, gone

No one told me, she told me
The Last Cigarette

And while we are on Bon Jovi (cause if you know anything about me at all you know how I LOVE Bon Jovi, our second request and dedication - Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen from Mars

Dressed up for a big date
Like Halloween day but it was Fourth of July now
A car crash with a suitcase and a painted face
She was one of a kind
She wears a plastic crown like Cinderella
And roller skates in bed

Crash rides the greyhound from his hometown
When he comes around 'cause they don't let him drive now
Mixed up as a milkshake
But make no mistake
They're shooting for the stars

You and me
We're invincible together
We can be so tragical, whatever
Dressed up just like ziggy but he couldn't play guitar
Captain Crash and the beauty queen from mars

Share a toothpick, trading lipstick
Watching traffic for days at the diner
Holding hands, making big plans
Playing Superman, he was wearing eyeliner
Another local legend and his longtime lucky charm

You and me
We're invincible together
We can be so tragical, whatever
Dressed up just like ziggy but he couldn't play guitar
Captain Crash and the beauty queen from mars

They're drunk on love as you can get
Getting high on lust and cigarettes
Living life with no regrets
At least they're gonna try to fly

You and me
We're invincible together
We can be so tragical, whatever
We're Sid and Nancy
Fred and Ginger
Clyde and Bonnie
Liz and Richard
Kurt and Courtney
Bacall and Bogie
Joltin' Joe and Ms. Monroe
Here's captain crash and the beauty queen from mars

Its time for SPF

Don't know what SPF is? Well you should. Head on over to Kristine's place over at Random and Odd (the link is in my blogroll) and pay her a visit. This weeks assignment: Luggage

This is a small little case that I have had forever. I can't quite remember where it came from. It may have been my grandmothers or I may have stolen it from my sister as a kid. All I know as I have had it forever and if I ever decide to skip town its one of the things I would take with me (you know beside cash, credit cards, oh and kids LMAO....). It contains some things that are very near and dear to my heart. Look closely and you will see that it still has the moving sticker on it - the little blue one.

Take a peek inside. Letters from high school and college. Remember when you used to pass notes to your friends/boyfriends and fold them all cute in high school? Well that is what that little folded thing is on top. Wanna read it? Nope...hehe. But maybe in another post. There are other things in there too. Pictures, little cutesy stuff (like cute pens and things - I was a cute pen addict for as long as I can remember) and see that yellow rope? That was what I wore during graduation (along with my beta club stuff) because I was an honor grad (see I told ya I was smart). Oh there are also letters in there from my various pen pals (you know in the days before computers when you actually wrote letters and mailed them? I had three pen pals. Two from the Phillipines (yeah I was worldly even in my younger days) and one from Bangor, ME. I wonder what they are doing now.

BUT I will show you something that is inside. This is a group picture of all the kids I went to preschool/daycare with - the name of the daycare was - ready for this....Humpty Dumpty Daycare (how cute is that? I amaze myself with the stuff I remember). Oh and the picture was damaged several years ago when my dog decided he needed to snack on it). I was 3 or 4 in this picture (and I still remember so much about this place - I started Kindergarten when I was 4). Amazingly, I went through 12 years of school and graduated with several of these people and one of them is Mr. Cheeky's cousin. I still know their names too (those other than the cousin). Darin G., Steve R., Jeremy C. and Jeremy C.'s little brother being held by Mrs. White (on the left), Mariah N., Cheryl B. (the cousin), Wendy W. (Mrs. White's daughter - Mrs. White was the owner). The lady in the dark glasses was the lunch lady and while I can't remember her name I do remember that she made some mean cheese grits for breakfast....mmm mmm good! Can you guess which one I am? Come on give it a try.....I bet you can. Scroll down for the answer...

Yeah, I am the cute little girl with blonde hair in the blue checked dress. Man I was cute! hehe

Oh and as a side note - today is the anniversary....care to guess how long?

Cheeky who #1 wants to know if you played and #2 is singing a little of the Boss....

Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Well there's a girl that lives up the block
back in school she could turn all the boy's heads
Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by
and have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband Bobby well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times,
she says when she feels like crying
she starts laughing thinkin about

Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Random Junk

Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday. My neck is somewhat better but still tight and still not right. But since its feeling a little better I will continue to self medicate and not make a visit with the doc - now if he was looking like Shell's doc I would be there in a hot minute but nah...not here in the tundra.

Did ya'll happen to see that new show on Fox last night - The Wedding Bells? It so reminds me of Ally McBeal (which it should since its the same creator). I really enjoyed it and ummm Heather Tom (you know the old Victoria from Y&R) well #1 she is looking HOT these days (you go girl) and #2 she is funny. Who knew? If you missed it try and catch it on Friday night (which is gonna be its regular time) cause they are gonna replay the first one. I have mixed feelings about Friday night shows - that's my b-dubs night BUT if I go early then I will be back in time to see it....that or I need Tivo or something.

I am up at the butt crack of dawn to do an interview at 7am! The things I do for my job. I guess I only have myself to blame - I did schedule it.

The man child will graduate next week to his Purple Belt! Woohoo!

Ummm rumor has it that we might actually be in the 40's this weekend....beach anyone???

That's it - that's all I got for now.....

In the words of Florida Evans

damn Damn DAMN! As I was drying my hair this morning, and doing the whole flip your hair thing (cause well I like flipping my hair) I pulled my neck and now it hurts...BAD! It hurts to move my right shoulder up and down (so of course I am not doing it so don't tell me not to do it mmmkay?) and it hurts to tip my head to the right side (so no holding the phone there when I talk). Guess its a good thing I went to the gym this morning cause it ain't gonna happen now.

PSA and other stuff

So for the birthday, we went to see Zodiac (not bad I should say, very long movie so pee before you go in and don't drink anything or you might miss something - now I wanna read the book) and then went to B-dubs (not Texas Roadhouse but it wasn't my b-day so I will shut up about it now LOL).

Now for the PSAs:

#1 To the lady at the table next to us at B-dubs. Honey, we all know that you want to look your best when out on a date with a guy that quite frankly is kidding himself because he is gay. But please please please don't be putting your darker shaded lip liner way outside the lip line. In that area a little dab will do ya. I mean you looked like you had been sucking on a pig or something. Seriously ya'll when Mr. Cheeky notices something like this and then points it out to me then you know it had to be bad. He said she looked like Inspector Clousseau from the Pink Panther.

#2 To the guy who was the date of Miss "I don't know how to wear my lipstick". Dude, just admit it. You are gay. Your posture, the way you heald you cigarette, your body language everything screamed GAY! Now I don't care if you are or if you aren't (cause ya'll know I say to each his own), just admit it and move on mmmkay? I mean denial is sooooo 80's. (but I do love the 80's).

Yesterday was the man child's last day of hockey for a while. They had their tourney and got trophies and had a great time. It really was fun. They played music when the play stopped and between periods and had an announcer just like the "pros" (OK not really but it did make it fun). One really cool thing is that I did get to hear man child's name being announced. He didn't score but he did get the assist! After the tourney there was a pizza party with the team. I decided not to go to that and be tempted and went to the gym instead. Another 3.39 miles ALL.UP.HILL and 470 calories burned. Based on my intake, yesterday should have been a loss day for me.....(keep those fingers crossed).

Getting ready for the jamboree

The warm up

After 3 games - 2 back to back - whew...

Trophy time

The 2006/2007 Rogers Mites

I wil be putting more pics in flickr (you know that thing over there to your right) later today - or tomorrow when I get more time.

Finally

After days and days it has decided to finally stop snowing. The sun is out (and man its bright) and the sky is clear. Got up this morning and headed to the man child's last official hockey game. Tomorrow he has a tournament and then we are DONE! Well, at least until the next thing starts.

After his game, came home and got dressed to go to the gym. I didn't go Thursday (but shoveling the driveway twice totally counts) or yesterday (ummm didn't really do much) so I needed to go today. 3.34 miles ALL.UP.HILL on the treadmill. Came home, showered, and then listened to my hypnosis CD's. Yes, I am easily hypnotised (very easily) and I have been listening to this particular one for almost 2 weeks. I can tell a little difference and I have to say that I like it so I am gonna keep on doing it.

Other than that we are doing whatever Mr. Cheeky wants to do since its his birthday and all. He said not to make a big deal over it so....I didn't. We might go to the movies and out to eat. I want to go to Texas Roadhouse because we have one now and I have really really MISSED it...but its not my call.

So that's it - that's all I got for a Saturday...I knew there was a reason I didn't post on weekends LOL!
