Ya know - every now and then I need to get back to my roots - my redneck ones. You know kick off ya shoes, have bleach blonde hair with 1 inch thick dark roots where it growed out, wear ya over-alls, chew on some hay kinda roots. That's what I aim to do here today. Now this is probably my all time favorite bar song....it just don't come no better than this right here. And while some of you might be drinking coffee or sody pop (cause ya'll read in the mornin') - for my sake - pretend its an ice cold beer, in a frosty long neck bottle.....can ya see it....

Turn up your speakers and hit play....and sing with me...sing it loud and proud and nice and twangy...it just don't get much better than this folks.....

Well, it was all
That I could do to keep from cryin'
Sometimes it seemed so useless to remain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name

You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride
And you don't have to call me Merle Haggard, anymore
Even though you're on my fightin' side

CHORUS:
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me (the bar sings let me let me let me)
And I never minded standin' in the rain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name

Well, I've heard my name
A few times in your phone book (Hello, Hello)
And I've seen it on the signs where I've played
But the only time I know
I’ll I know I'll hear David Allan Coe
Is when Jesus has his final judgement day

So I'll hang around as long as you will let me (the bar sings let me let me let me)
And I never minded standin' in the rain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name

Spoken:
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
And he told me it was the perfect country and western song
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the perfect country and western song because he hadn't said anything at all about Mama,
Or trains,
Or trucks,
Or prison,
Or gettin drunk
Well he sat down and wrote another verse to the song
And he sent it to me,
And after reading it,
I realized that my friend had written the perfect country & western song
And I felt obliged to include it on this album
The last verse go like this here:

Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me (the bar sings let me let me let me)
And I never minded standin' in the rain
ooohhhh but you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me
Well I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name

Happy Leap Day!

Its Friday!!! Sweeeeet. So of course I have to give you a little bit of randomness.

Mr. Cheeky comes home tonight and is going to be home for a week - woot!

My fashion designer/buyer (aka Mommy K's hubby) is ready for me to come to Charleston so we can go shopping. He loves to spend my money. But I have to admit, the things he picks out for me are so very FAB!

Right now the kitties are playing in the hallway outside my door and Kitty Girl is whoppin up on Sylvester's head! You go girl!

Yesterday I heard from a long lost friend on Classmates. He was older than me and graduated 4 years before I did. But he was hilarious (and I suspect he still is). It took me a while to figure out who it was because I didn't know him by his formal name - I knew him by his nickname.

I have been running around a lot this week. Things just sort of seemed out of control a little bit. I am glad its over.

I think tonight I need me some WANGS and Trivia - oh yes, I do.

The countdown has begun - its official - 18 days until Bon Jovi Baby!!!

That's it - that is all I got this morning. Hope ya'll have a GREAT weekend!

Randomness

Why is it that every time Mr. Cheeky either plans to work from home or just plain stay home with me the kids always end up not going to school or go on a delay? Yesterday, I wake up and the TV is going and I walk downstairs to find teenage daughter. Yep, it was an unexpected 2 hour delay - for fog! Which means man child didn't leave the house until almost 11. So there went our morning LOL.

Actually it was a great morning and afternoon too. We went to lunch, ran some errands and just generally just spent the day together. It was nice. Plus it was in the upper 30's so it almost felt like spring!

OH speaking of spring - our plans for spring break have been altered. We were supposed to go see Mickey in Orlando and meet Mr. Cheeky there but his travel schedule has become a little screwy and he may not be able to join us. So after much discussion we have decided that me and the kids are going to head to NC to visit family and Charleston, SC to visit friends. It will be much warmer than here so its cool. We will plan another family vacation when Mr. Cheeky's travel gets under control.

Over the weekend we discovered the updated version of the game Life. It's the electronic version and we have played it almost everyday since we bought it. Its a good family game and pretty easy to do. Its nice that manchild is old enough to start really enjoying board games with us.

I have been awake since Mr. Cheeky left at O'dark thirty again this morning (that would be 3:30am for those of you that don't speak Cheeky). I couldn't go back to sleep after he left so I see a nap in my future.

Cheeky who is singing.....

I couldn't sleep at all last night
Just a-thinkin' 'bout you
Baby, things weren't right

'Cause I was
Tossin' and turnin', turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin', tossin' and turnin' all night

I kicked the blankets on the floor
Turned my pillow upside down
I never felt this way before

'Cause I was
Tossin' and turnin', turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin', tossin' and turnin' all night

Jumped out of bed, turned on the lights
Pulled down the shade, went to the kitchen for a bite
Rolled up the shade, turned down the lights
I jumped back in the bed, was the middle of the night

The clock downstairs was strikin' three
Couldn't get you off my mind
I heard the milkman on the street

'Cause I was
Tossin' and turnin', turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin', tossin' and turnin' all night

Jumped out of bed, turned on the lights
Pulled down the shade, went to the kitchen for a bite
Rolled up the shade, turned down the lights
Jumped back in the bed, was the middle of the night

The clock downstairs was strikin' three
Couldn't get you off my mind
I heard the milkman on the street

'Cause I was
Tossin' and turnin', turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin', tossin' and turnin' all night

Tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'.....

Don't ya just love it (and other random things)

When you wake up you just KNOW its gonna be a wonderful day? Its only 7:21a and I have already been fairly productive this morning. I have lots of things to do today but that is ok. I have to get groceries, do some laundry, I have a class I want to attend (that is still not decided yet - I can do it next week too if I want), its BUNCO night (can you believe its already been a month? wish me luck) but the best part..... the very best part.....Mr. Cheeky comes home - WOOT!!! He doesn't get in until really late so I may have to take a nap this afternoon.

He has been gone all week in Dallas again. He will be home for almost 2 weeks and will be leaving again the day after Valentines. He was supposed to be leaving ON Valentines but he moved it just for me...awwww.

OH OH speaking of Valentines - last call to be on "the list". I have all of my cards ready to go and have the supplies to do a few more if someone out there wants one. Just email me with your snail mail addy (cheekygrin30 at yahoo dot com) and then you are on "the list". This years card is a simple design but I like it. Deadline if you want in on this round is next Friday. And while we are on the subject - if you want off the list (I can't imagine why) but if you do, drop me a note and let me know that too.

Last night I went on a date with the man child. He wanted wings and wings he got! Its hard not to go on a date when he wants wings.

That's all I got for this morning. I can't sit here too much longer otherwise I will lose my motivation and I don't want to do that today.

Cheeky - who in honor of Mr. Cheeky coming home is gonna sing a little ditty from Huey Lewis and the News (I pink puffy heart Huey).....and if you don't have their greatest hits CD - you don't know what you are missing - go out and get it - NOW!!

Early in the morning, I'm still in bed
She comes to me with sweet affection
Wakes me with kisses, "Hello sleepyhead."
Gets me moving in the right direction
I do my best to give her love that lasts forever
It seems like everythiung I do I'm doing better

Doing it all for my baby
Because she's as fine as she can be
Doing it all for my baby
For everything she does for me

Later in the evening, it's been a busy day
She lays her head upon my weary shoulder
Listen to her laughing, snuggle up and say
Now I'm with you baby, the loneliness is over
I do my best to give her love that lasts forever
It seems like everything I do I'm doing better

Doing it all for my baby
Because she's as fine as she can be
Doing it all for my baby
For everything she does for me

Doin it
Doin it
Doin it doin it doin it yeah

Doin it
Doin it
Whoo hoo hoooo

Doin it
Doin it
Doin it doin it doin it yeah

Doin it
Doin it
Whoo hoo hoooo

Random Friday

See this?

Now I am accountable.........ya'll can harass me if you see that I am not making progress. I am walking to Charleston to the beach. I will be putting this in my side bar after today so ya'll can keep your eye on me. Just remember, I do better with positive reinforcement capish? The miles are at zero right now cause its 6:23am and I haven't gotten on the treadmill yet. As I get on, I will update the ticker so if you are reading this post at the end of the day it might not be at zero. AND I am only counting treadmill time, not total steps for the day from the pedometer.

Like Katie I have done really well at not eating out so much. I have cooked every night this week. Now Friday is our usual order Pizza night but instead, tonight its going to be "clean out the fridge" and "fend for yourself" night.

I am halfway through making my V-day cards. Its been a slower process because it requires some drying time. So once again if you want to be on "the list" be sure to email me with your addy. I like adding new people (even lurkers). I have sort of made it a little personal goal to send my cards to someone in every state in the US. And now that I am retired and have more time, if you want to purchase cards to send out for yourself....just let me know :)

Not too much planned for the weekend as of right now. We have to get Mr. Cheeky packed and ready to travel again. He leaves on Sunday but just for a few days. Dallas again I think.

I am going to start looking for our tickets to Orlando today. We are going in March - woohooo!

That's it - That's all I got for ya today so I am gonna sing a little ditty for ya. Now I know you are thinking I will sing the Proclaimers 500 miles but nah not today that would be too predictable and we don't want that do we? I am gonna go a little old school on ya (I know a lot of tunes ya'll). Wanna guess.... come one take a guess......perhaps a little Fats Domino....I loves me some Fats!

It's time I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm going to need two pair of shoes
When I get through walkin' to you
When I get back to New Orleans

I've got my suitcase in my hand
Now, ain't that a shame
I'm leavin' here today
Yes, I'm goin' back home to stay
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans

You used to be my honey
Till you spent all my money
No use for you to cry
I'll see you bye and bye
Cause I'm walkin' to New Orleans

I've got no time for talkin'
I've got to keep on walkin'
New Orleans is my home
That's the reason why I'm goin'
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans

I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans

Random Friday

So today its Random Friday to clear out the brain before the weekend.

Today is the first Friday of the month so that means....BUNCO NIGHT!! I have to take an appetiser, I don't know what to take. I want to take something awesome but easy, any suggestions? I did a veggie tray last time. Not very awesome but it was really easy.

The flamingos (there are two) did not make it outside yesterday. The wind kept gusting and I was not about to let my new toys get hurt. Now today is a totally different story! But I know ya'll want to see them so, this is what they look like (from the box). I promise you will get the real deal on the next post.

Today is the day - I am working on the craft blog and getting that updated - TODAY!!

My Sylvester has been all sad since his kitty friends left this week. Kitty girl is once again Queen of the the castle.

Today is also do the laundry and run errands day. Don't you want to come and join in the fun?

Message to Atomik Kitten - Yes! I do crochet! And I would just be thrilled with a pink flamingo pattern! (you didn't leave a link or email for me to answer you directly)

We be Smart and other Random Stuff

Well its official, I live in a city that is literate. Woot! As a matter of fact, we are #1 on the list.

It appears that I am having to take the girls to the mall today. They just can't stand it. The gift cards are burning a hole in their pockets. I will go but I am not really looking for anything right now so I will just be the taxi driver. I think I have talked them out of going to MOA.

Tonight might be the night to officially meet Hockey boy. Teenage daughter asked me last night if he could come over tonight. Last time he wasn't feeling well so he didn't come. We will see if it happens this time.

I played in my craft room for a few hours last night and used my new chair that Santa brought me (much more comfy than the card table chair I was using). I won't tell you what I was creating because I know some of you will roll your eyes at me and say "already?". But I will say I am in the design phase and it is something you will receive if you are on "the list" but not for a while. I was also creating some cards for Moi as she won the card giveaway earlier in December. I think once the kids get back to school and things get back to normal I will be doing a lot more scrap pages. I will also actively be updating my craft page so ya'll can take a peek at my handy work if you want. The link is in my blogroll but I will put it in a post when I start updating it again. Its been a long time since I last updated it.

So far I have settled in to unemployment (retirement as my Daddy calls it) pretty well. I started all gung ho with all kinds of projects that I wanted to do but the holiday sort of side tracked them (yeah, that's it, it was the holiday). I think with the new year, it will motivate me to get back on them again.

Nothing really big planned for the weekend. Manchild has a game on Saturday. I may or may not take down the trees. I usually wait until New Year's Day but I think since NYD is in the middle of the week I may just want to go ahead and get it done now. I haven't decided yet.

So that's it - that's all I got for you this morning. Hope ya'll have a great weekend!

Random Friday

Its time for me to give you some randomness cause I just can't keep it in my brain no more..........

Conversation with Mr. Cheeky:

Me: I have a disorder
Mr. Cheeky: yeah, its called stupidity

An update from teenage daughter:
The armpits don't hurt anymore......

The energy held out through getting the manchild's room purged. I just have to get a couple baskets for his shelves in the closet. But as I was going through EVERYTHING, I realized his room REALLY needs to be painted. As of right now, that will be happening tomorrow (but I could change my mind). I am gonna go get the paint today so if it doesn't happen tomorrow, I can do it next week.

After purging, I made my attack and hit 2 out of 3 grocery stores. They are all right there together so its not like I am running all over town. Came home and made something new for dinner and ya'll, it was good. Pan seared Shrimp and Scallops with Orzo w/Spinach and Tomatoes. The Shrimp and Scallops were very very yummy. The orzo was good but to me it seamed to need something else and I couldn't figure out what it needed. I have leftovers, maybe I can figure it out today.

Tonight it is get out of the house and play night so I am going to meet up with Katie and we are gonna go be kids and play at D&B.

Tomorrow, after painting (really who else do you know that paints a week before Christmas? Seriously?), I think we are gonna hit the movies. I want to go see Alvin and the Chipmunks (I think the kids want to see it too). There are some other movies I want to see too but I think I will see this one.

Cheeky - who thinks its time to start singing some Christmas tunes for ya and is dedicating this first tune to Jenie. Click this link so you can hear it and sing along ya'll

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don't want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use our dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door, that's the easy thing to do

I can see me now on Christmas
morning, creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too

Mom says the hippo would eat me up, but then
Teacher says a hippo is a vegetarian

There's lots of room for him in our two-car garage
I'd feed him there and wash him
there and give him his massage
I can see me now on Christmas
morning, creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuseses
And hippopotamuses like me too!

Friday Randomness

Remember the contest ends Saturday at midnight - comment comment comment

So let me give you just a little bit of Friday Randomness while my banana nut muffins are baking (mmmmmmm that smell, can't you smell that smell...I digress).

Manchild never ceases to amaze me. Just yesterday during the day I was speaking with a friend (also a mother but she has 2 boys instead of a boy and a girl) about how manchild has been testing my limits. He is starting to enter those pre-pubescent (my .25 word of the day - thank you very much) years and is driving me nuts. So, I am waiting for him to get home, I am watching the clock. 3:40 not home yet (hmmm must be walking slow today). 3:45 not home yet (I bet he stopped along the way to play with his friends). 3:50 not home yet (he really should check with me before he just goes and plays, he knows I worry if he doesn't). 3:55 not home yet (seriously where is this kid). 4:00 not home yet (oh he is sooo gonna be in trouble and get "the lecture" when he gets home). At this point I look out the door to see if I see him playing outside. OH I see him alright but not playing - do you know what this kid was doing..........SHOVELING THE DRIVE! All by himself, WITHOUT being told to. By the time I looked out it was 75% done. I open the door and ask him if he wanted some help. "Nah, I am almost done" he says. When he gets in I ask him why he did it. He said "cause you didn't do it yet so I thought I would" (for the record I had already shoveled once - just hadn't done the second round yet). Now how can you stay irritated with a kid like that?

Teenage daughter is crackin me up these days. She is almost finished with drivers ed and will be getting her permit sometime next week - weather permitting cause I barely drive around in this crap - no way am I gonna let her at first.

Mr. Cheeky comes home today and will be home for the rest of the year (sounds like a long time huh?). So tomorrow after we do some shopping (groceries people - I am done with everything else except for 2 gift cards and I don't consider that shopping) we will be the idiots standing out in the snow grillin a honker! Yes, its been a while since I have had a good honker and well you can't get them as good as we do them at a restaurant and you can't do it that good inside - so outside it is!

Tonight I am doing something that can either be really fun or really stupid (doesn't it always seem that way - fun or stupid?). The ladies in the neighborhood (on the other right side - the left is the trouble makers) want to get together the first Friday of every month and play Bunco or is it Bunko - I don't know - I don't even know what it is. Part of me says, "go have a good time and meet the other side of the street neighbors", the other part of me says "this is going to be one huge gossip fest and you don't want to get caught up in that". I am going to listen to that positive side and go and see what happens.

OK the muffins are done (mmmmmm the house smells good ya'll) so I gots to go get me some....so with that I am gonna leave you with a little song (I know I know I haven't been singing lately).......a little Toby Keith (an older one).....
Getcha Some....

Well boy meets girl and it's a good bet
Girl's gonna play a little hard to get
But they both got the same thing on their mind
Ain't that the way that the world goes round
Don't it get you up get you down
It gets you walking around with a flashlight trying to find
Love

Oooh gotta getcha some gotta getcha some gotta getcha some
Oooh gotta getcha some........ love

Then boy sees girl with another guy
What he wouldn't give just to catch her eye 'cause man
She is so hot
But you can't compete with a superstar
He's got a big old house and little red car
And what need is the one thing you ain't got money

Oooh gotta getcha some gotta getcha some gotta getcha some
Oooh gotta getcha some......... money
Oooh gotta getcha some gotta getcha some gotta getcha some
Oooh gotta getcha some......... yeah

Then god smiles down from up above
The money rolls in and they fall in love
From the outside looking in it's a dream come true
But as time goes by something turns up missing
There's not enough hugging and not enough kissing
Before to long they better do what they gotta do you know

Oooh gotta getcha some gotta getcha some gotta getcha some
Oooh gotta getcha some......... babies
Oooh gotta getcha some gotta getcha some gotta getcha some
Oooh gotta getcha some.......... yeah

You know curtain climbers, and rugrats, and tricycle motors
It don't matter what you call 'em you gotta have a whole house full of 'em
Ain't nothing in the world like youngins getcha some

So what do I talk about today?

OH I dunno.....things are a little calm around these parts so I will just give you a little randomness.

Check your mail, all the Turkey day cards are out! This is my first attempt at a Turkey day card so let me know what you think. If you want on the Christmas list, better send me that address quick!

Mr. Cheeky came home Friday night. He will be here through the week and then leave again on Saturday night.

I have already started my Christmas shopping and a few gifts are already on their way - sweet!

I am going out on Black Friday - last year I won, lets see what happens this year.

This weekend, we bought a treadmill. I need it - now I have no excuse (but give me time I will find one). Everyone has been using it. Let's see how long that lasts.

That's it - that's all I got for ya today. Pathetic I know....

If you were a fly on the wall

You may have heard the following little tidbits from the adventures of the Cheeky family (and remember we are less than 24 hours into the trip)

* "I'm gonna chicken slap you"

* "OK who just ruined the new car smell?"

* "You are just like the government, when you run out of money you just ask for more"

* "You ignorant retarded donkey" (this one got lots of laughs)

* "Yeah, you are full of something"

Teenage Daughter: "What's that smell?
Cheeky: "I just ate a rolaids"
Mr. Cheeky: "I just farted"
Teenage Daughter: "Smells good"

Cheeky: "I might get my hair cut off"
Teenage Daughter: "Well you know the deal"
Cheeky: "I don't negotiate about my hair"
Teenage Daughter: "I don't negotiate with terrorists"

Ahhh yes it is a barrel of laughs around here. Except for Mr. Cheeky. His bag has yet to show up. They can't find it. Luckily, I had put in a pair of jeans and a shirt of his in my bag. It got lost in Atlanta. He leaves Monday to drive to Virginia. Hopefully we will have it before then or we have to get him all new business clothes for work.

Why do people have to be such PIA's???

Ya'll read my posts (even the lurkers) and many times comment with relevant things to say about the topic at hand. I like that. No, I lurve that. What I have no tolerance for is this comment spam crap. Now, I have enabled the little word verification thing, as much as it annoys me, to try and avoid some of the "come see me naked on cam" or the "come see my site so I can sell you something" spam. For the most part it has been a good thing until this week. Apparrently, some web crawler or person or something picked up on my post this week about using the work HONKY and now, I keep getting this religious crap (and yes it is crap - I have my beliefs and yes I believe in God, but this stuff that is going in the comments is CRAP!) and if you weren't a believer, reading this junk would definately turn you off and push you away so I don't know why they do it. I am getting them every night on random older posts that have word verification in place. I have been pretty diligent in removing them right away but its getting on my last nerve and that is not somewhere you want to be.

I have toyed with the idea of not allowing anonymous comments but then people, like my Pop (and others) won't be able to comment. I don't like that. I don't want ONLY those that have a google account to be able to comment. I want to leave it open to the masses (cuz I lurve the comments). I have also toyed with the idea of comment moderation for a little while but that won't stop them from commenting. I know in Wordpress and other such blog formats there are things you can do to prevent this crap. I don't want to switch at this point. Anybody have any suggestions other than not allowing anonymous comments?

Now, after reading this you may thing I am in a foul mood. NOPE, you would be wrong. I am actually a little giddy and energetic and feeling domestic (again, I know I think I need to go to the doc about this domesticity thing). It is looking like a turn on the radio and dance around the house kind of day. Taking a break for Y&R of course....I mean let's not get ridiculous.

OH and this needs to be mentioned too.....umm Guitar Hero III comes out on the 28th - oh yes it does and guess who is gonna be there getting her copy...oh yes I am. And this is pretty much what we will do after we get it. Oh, yes it is! I am gonna be a Guitar Hero!!!

Randomness yet again

I have junk just bouncing around in this head of mine.

So, I watched the first episode of Kid Nation last night. I already have my favorites (Jared from GA is just crackin me up - talking about takin a poo...bwahaha) and those that I want to just smack (Mike on the council). I think the girl that got the 20K deserved it (and she cracked me up doing the dancing for $$ so she could buy the bike). Overall I thought it was pretty decent. Not sure if it will be an every week I have to see it kind of thing yet.

Tonight is SURVIVOR and I have known from past seasons if I don't watch the first one or two episodes then I don't watch it at all. I am watching tonight (just in case you were wondering).

Mr. Cheeky comes home today from his travels. While he was gone I have about 3/4 of my halloween cards DONE! Woot! He will be traveling again in a few weeks so I might just get a wild hair up my bootay and do Turkey day cards. I haven't ever done those and thought it might be nice. Now it will depend on if I can come up with a design I like. Looks like a trip to the stamp store for me....hehehe (I get all giddy when I think of the stamp store). OH speaking of.....my dear sweet darling Katie sent me a coupon for Michael's for 50% off so yeah - I will be going there too!

I have decided that I am going to go with the man child on his field trip to the zoo next week. I know only been in school for 2 weeks and already going on a field trip on week 3.

Had another really weird dream last night. Very odd. Had to do with space and Superman and swinging a kid (you know between two people) and letting him go and then him not coming back down but floating off into space. There was something else too and I remembered it when I woke up but didn't write it down and now I can't remember. I don't know what is up with this strange dream stuff lately.

Still pushing maximum density. Was gonna do a one week jump start diet that Tommeia sent to me but as it turns out it didn't happen this week. Maybe next week. I couldn't find my really good pedometer and have since bought two very crappy ones (one was $3 and one was $8) - I guess you get what you pay for. If I can't find my good one soon I will just have to get another one.

That is all I gots for ya today. So let me see if I can pick a really fun song to sing.....I am feeling like a little ELO......

Listen everybody let me tell you 'bout the rock'n'roll
Feel that rhythm and it's really gonna thrill your soul
She said come along with me, to a land of make believe
She said whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

She loves that rock'n'roll and she plays it all night long
That's all she ever tells me when I call her on the telephone
She says feel that jumpin' beat, and git up on your feet
She says whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

Oh let those guitars play
Play for me play for me
Oh let that song ring out
That's now it's meant to be

It rolls like a train that's comin' on down the track
She rolled over Beethoven and she gave Tchaikovsky back
She loves that drivin' beat, she goes dancin' on down the street
She said whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

Oh let those guitars play
Play for me play for me
Oh let that song ring out
That's now it's meant to be

When she comes around and I'm listenin' to the radio
She says you can't do that 'cos all I wanna do is rock'n'roll
Now here I'm gonna stay when that music starts to play
She says whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king
whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king
whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king
She said whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

Weekend Update

It was a pretty uneventful weekend around Chez Cheeky. Friday night it was time for a little b-dubs and trivia! I kicked bootay on 2 of the 3 games. The last game was way out there. I held my own but that is about all I can say about that. Came home and it was still early so it was time for a little Guitar Hero. We hadn't played in a while so I was afraid I was really going to be bad but I guess I channeling my inner Jimmy Hendrix because we had some high score.

Saturday. Mr. Cheeky made some really AWESOME hash browns for breakfast. They weren't Waffle House good but they were a really close second. We sorta laid around for the morning and watched some Harry Potter. Then we decided we really needed to quit being so lazy so we got up, grabbed the kids and headed out. The first stop was to the local highschool where they were having a little craft show. It wasn't bad. I got 2 hanging towels from the washcloth granny (I am not being mean, this is what she called herself). Then off the the little festival our town was having. We were there about 30 minutes looking at all the old cars at the car show part of the festival and decided it was way too cold and windy. So we headed home to get properly dressed (it was like 5 mins from the house) and then went back. We saw all the booths and played in the petting zoo part.

We ate junk. Fried cheese curds and a massive serving of nachos. Then walked around a bit more. It was getting toward the end and the VFW Auxillary was having a fun little bingo game. Twenty five cents a card so Mr. Cheeky and I decided to play while the kids did the rides and kiddie events. Well, first game was a bust but then...I won the next 3 games in a row. No kidding. AND I had some massive jackpots ($2.25, 1.75. and 1.75) that allowed us to keep playing until it was time for them to pack up. Yeah, I know, we get excited about stuff like that. Came home and ......hung up my peg board in my craft room. Now this really made me happy cause now I can play with it and decorate it up!

Sunday. We were up early. Mr. Cheeky made breakfast again (he does this pretty much every weekend) and we were headed to Costco! After we got back it was time to pack him up for his trip this week. Got him all packed and then flipped between football and the race until it was time from him to go. After he left, I went straight downstairs into my craft room and started playing with my peg board and working on cards. I was there for hours and didn't even know it but I did get a lot done. I also started watching the first season of Weeds. I saw it in the store the other day and thought since there was such a buzz about it, I would get it to watch while I play. Yeah, I like this show. I made it through the first half of the first season. Yeah, I really like this show. It is really gonna stink when I get all of them watched and then can't watch it weekly (I get HBO not Showtime but I am thinking of changing this). After playing then I fed the man child (teenage daughter had already fended for herself) and then I sat and worked on my cards some more (I brought a project up stairs) and watched Anchorman. I loves me some Ron Burgandy, yes I do!

That's it - thats my weekend update. Its going to be a busy week here at Chez Cheeky with Mr. Cheeky being absent so I am glad it wasn't a stressful weekend.

Cheeky - who is singing a song inspired by Ron........

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been 'when it's right, it's right'
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night?
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
And we know the night is always gonna be there any way

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
A little afternoon delight
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Please be waiting for me, baby, when I come around
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Afternoon delight!

Going through the big D and other Randomness

Still not a lot going on. I made it through yesterday's interviews - woohoo!

Now before ya'll get all worked up. The big D I am referring to here is Dallas. Mr. Cheeky is headed out that way next week. So I will have the evenings to myself next week. I see lots of crafting in my future. BUT then again, it is premier week on a lot of my shows and the cable connection in my craft room sucks. I can't get the local channels. So, I may just have to bring stuff up stairs and work on it cause this girl has gotta see her some House and CSI among other shows. Maybe this is why my backside has spread.

So, yesterday I strapped on the ol pedometer and realized just how sedinatary I really am. Now, not that I am am rationalizing here (well maybe I am a little bit), I did have lots of interviews that kept me in my chair. Let's see how today goes before getting all depressed about it. As I was thinking about ways to keep myself motivated, I was thinking that I might take a virutal walking journey by logging my steps per day (week, whatever) and plot them on a map and start visiting my friends or places that I have always wanted to go. There was a group of us that did something similar to this when I worked on site with my company in Charleston. We walked from Charleston out to California and back hitting all the major landmarks along the way. We even had someone that would do a bi-weekly newsletter where she had photoshoped pictures to put us in the actual locations. It was really a fun thing to do. Obviously a group logging their steps will get you somewhere faster than a single person but...Hey it still might be fun. Soooooo who wants to be first on my list????

I have taken to drinking coffee fairly regularly again. I am not hooked....yet. I have been getting up early everyday with Mr. Cheeky and since its been chilly I have been making my coffee. I lurve good coffee. I really do. I used to drink it all day long with no problems (except that awful caffiene headache if I didn't get it). When I started having sleep issues I pretty much stopped having coffee (along with other things). It didn't necessarily solve my sleep problem but I did break that caffiene addiction. This time around I only have one cup maybe a cup and a half and I am done.

Cheeky who is gonna sing this again, just because it is very appropriate.....

When I wake up, well I know i'm gonna be,
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next you ( what )
When I go out,( when i go out ) well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
If I get drunk, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
When I haver, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm working, yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money, comes in for the work I do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home(When I come home), well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
When I grow-old,(When I grow-old) well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)

Da Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da

da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)

Da Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da

When I'm lonely, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's lonely without you
And when I'm dreaming, well I know I'm gonna dream
I'm gonna Dream about the time when I'm with you
When I go out(When I go out), well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
And when I come home(When I come home), yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home wi you
I'm gonna be the man who's coming home wi you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)

Da Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da

da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)

Da Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da

da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)

Da Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da

da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)

Da Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da

And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

Nothing....

I got nothing. Seriously, not much happened yesterday in the way of blogging fodder. So I guess I could give you a few updates on some things.

Remember the attack of the pedicure back in July? Remember how after a couple weeks, I finally sucked it up and went to the doc and she gave me a tetnus shot (OUCH) and antibiotics and sent me on my merry way? Yeah, well ummmm lets just say I am heading to see a podiatrist on the 25th (maybe earlier - I am on the standby to call list if someone cancels). Its still there. I am still bleeding regularly. I have little blood stains all over my house. If there is ever a crime in this house, the CSI team will be getting samples of my blood from every room.

I read a post yesterday that really put things into perspective for me and I have a confession to make......Ladies and Gents of the blogging world....Cheeky has reached maximum denisty. Whew, there I said it. Now, with that off my shoulders, I am trying to turn over a new leaf and with such have gotten out the trusty old pedometer again. Seriously, its gotten a little ridiculous and I MUST do something about it.....NOW!

I have a very busy day ahead of me with lots of back to back interviews (why do I do this to myself?). So busy in fact that I went to Wally World already this morning to pick up a few items I will need for dinner (cause I won't have time until much much later and I didn't want to stress out over it). I went to Wally World cause they are open 24 hours. The Super Target or Grocery Stores weren't open yet. That is how early I went. Well maybe one grocery store was but I wasn't going to fight traffic to get there - going to Wally World meant I was going opposite traffic and that is a good thing.

Well that is it - exciting post huh?

So, since I need to move a little today, I am gonna sing a little ditty for ya and Katie honey - you will soooooooooo appreciate this well, why don't you just join me in a little dance mmmmmmkay? Stand up.....yes Katie, YOU, stand up.....ready? here we go......

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no

It's not the things you do that tease and wound me bad
But it's the way you do the things you do to me

I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one

Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'til it's my turn

I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one

Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'til it's my turn

I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one......

Are you ready for some football???

Tonight, I am headed to go see me some football live and in person. Cool huh? Bad part is I am not a fan of either of the teams. I am NOT a Vikings fan and I am definitely NOT a Dallas fan (ducking from my TX friends here hehe). But that is not going to stop me from having a good time. I have talked about this before, I can watch sports on TV for a limited time but I LOVE going to the game live.

Teenage daughter had a good birthday (I think - she is a teenager she doesn't tell me everything...hehe). Once again she was being a poser (first was the whole birthday month thing - trying to be like her mom - me!) what did she want for dinner? Lobster! What did she get for dinner? Lobster! Yeah, I know - I am a sucker but I like birthdays. The pic is a little blurry but you get the idea...

The man child is still looking out for me. I am on the couch last night and he calls down from upstairs...

Man Child: Hey Mom
Cheeky: Yo
Man Child: Grease is coming on TV tomorrow night
Cheeky: Thanks

At least he didn't wake me up in the middle of the night to tell me this. That is progress people.

Once again, I was wearing a sweatshirt yesterday and I already have one on this morning. I don't like cold but I do like sweatshirt weather. I am wearing my new scrappin sorority one and it is so soft.....I mean really really soft. Speaking of scrappin, Scrapfest 2007 is just around the corner. Starts a week from tomorrow and yeah I have an entire weekend planned - I am an addict and during scrapfest I have to be careful of OD'ing....hehe.

The state fair is in town but I haven't had time to go yet. I am thinking tomorrow will be a good day. Take off work early and just go. That is the only day the teenage daughter has free from tennis. OH and while I was on vacation (which is why I didn't post it right away) she tells me that she is CAPTAIN of her team! Way to go!

OK that's it, that's all I got for now. Happy Thursday!

I am utterly disgusted

With myself. I can't believe what I did this weekend. AND what's worse, not only did I do it once but I did it TWICE! I mean seriously, I can't believe I did it. So, I know you are asking yourself, "well what did she do?". To some of you, this may not be that big of a deal, to others, well you feel my pain. Let me explain.

Friday night, we went to a friend's house for a little grillin and chillin. It was a very nice day weather wise and so I wore jeans and a nice shirt. I opted for sneakers since my feet were not in the right condition for sandals. We got there and got settled and then it happened. I got cold. IN JULY! In the middle of the freakin summer I got cold! But here is the bad part, I put on a SWEATSHIRT! IN JULY!!! because I was COLD!! I mean I wasn't there an hour yet and I was cold. What kind of a weenie am I? This is just wrong on soooooo many levels.

On the way home, I stopped to get the teenage daughter and her friends. The book was released at midnight and she had gotten her book and was in the car and we were on the road at 12:08 - to too bad. I left the light on in the car so they could start reading right away. They read the first chapter and then someone on said, "oh this book is going to be sooo emotional" - that just cracks me up. They read until 5:30am (remember they had been up at the butt crack of dawn on Friday to get in line for their arm bands). Took a quick eating break (they are teenagers) then snoozed until 8. Got up and continued reading until the book was done! So when I asked who died the little snots said "we aren't telling you have to read it for yourself" - Niiiiiice.

Saturday night we headed back down to the same house as the night before to have a little more fun and watch the fireworks for the Aquatennial. The kids came along for this one. Teenage daughter slept in the back of the car until the food was ready. Then when she got up she proceeded to tell me what happened to who and who died. I am NOT gonna give you any spoilers but I will say when she told me about one of the characters that died I was a little sad - I liked that character.

We walked a couple of blocks from the house to where the fireworks were being held. They were not tooo shabby. Actually, they were good. Then we walked back to the house and sat by the fire. Yep, that's right - the FIRE all while wearing my SWEATER because I was COLD in the middle of JULY!!! TWO nights in a ROW!

Here are a few fire cracker pics....

On with the show this is IT!!!! (and other random things)

Yes, this is it my friends....the dream we all dream of (wait!, that is a Prince song...sorry got distracted hehe). This is the night that the teenage daughter has been waiting for since the announcement of the final Harry Potter book. So tonight, at 10ish I will be taking her to the bookstore for all the fun and festivities (read: pushing and shoving) to get her copy of the book when it is released at midnight. She and her friend L plan on staying up the rest of the night to read it. Actually I was told, "I am gonna shut myself in my room all weekend and read it Mom". So, looks like a quiet house for me this weekend ....hehehe!

"Edited to add": I have just been informed that teenage daughter is now decided she is going to dress up as a Death Eater for the festivities.....yes, I will take pics!

On another topic, L thinks the teenage daughter and I are funny because I was upstairs in my office last night and teenage daughter was downstairs and we kept sending each other comments and messages on myspace. L was like "but she is just right upstairs"....we are silly like that.

Man child is staying over with a friend tonight and going to the fair - woohoo! Maybe just maybe I might get to sleep in tomorrow. That is if I remember to shut the cat out of my room so he doesn't scream in my face at 5am to tell me to get up. Reminds me of the Flintstones where Fred throws the cat out the window and the cat just comes back in and throws Fred out. Yeah, Sylvester would do that if he could.

Tonight we are headed to a friends house to do a little grillin and chillin! Throw some meat on the grill and play some lawn games (ladder golf and baggo probably). It won't be a late night because I have to get back to take the girls to the store cause I am a cool mom like that!

Cheeky - who is sayin...TGIF!!!
