Don't ya just love it (and other random things)

When you wake up you just KNOW its gonna be a wonderful day? Its only 7:21a and I have already been fairly productive this morning. I have lots of things to do today but that is ok. I have to get groceries, do some laundry, I have a class I want to attend (that is still not decided yet - I can do it next week too if I want), its BUNCO night (can you believe its already been a month? wish me luck) but the best part..... the very best part.....Mr. Cheeky comes home - WOOT!!! He doesn't get in until really late so I may have to take a nap this afternoon.

He has been gone all week in Dallas again. He will be home for almost 2 weeks and will be leaving again the day after Valentines. He was supposed to be leaving ON Valentines but he moved it just for me...awwww.

OH OH speaking of Valentines - last call to be on "the list". I have all of my cards ready to go and have the supplies to do a few more if someone out there wants one. Just email me with your snail mail addy (cheekygrin30 at yahoo dot com) and then you are on "the list". This years card is a simple design but I like it. Deadline if you want in on this round is next Friday. And while we are on the subject - if you want off the list (I can't imagine why) but if you do, drop me a note and let me know that too.

Last night I went on a date with the man child. He wanted wings and wings he got! Its hard not to go on a date when he wants wings.

That's all I got for this morning. I can't sit here too much longer otherwise I will lose my motivation and I don't want to do that today.

Cheeky - who in honor of Mr. Cheeky coming home is gonna sing a little ditty from Huey Lewis and the News (I pink puffy heart Huey).....and if you don't have their greatest hits CD - you don't know what you are missing - go out and get it - NOW!!

Early in the morning, I'm still in bed
She comes to me with sweet affection
Wakes me with kisses, "Hello sleepyhead."
Gets me moving in the right direction
I do my best to give her love that lasts forever
It seems like everythiung I do I'm doing better

Doing it all for my baby
Because she's as fine as she can be
Doing it all for my baby
For everything she does for me

Later in the evening, it's been a busy day
She lays her head upon my weary shoulder
Listen to her laughing, snuggle up and say
Now I'm with you baby, the loneliness is over
I do my best to give her love that lasts forever
It seems like everything I do I'm doing better

Doing it all for my baby
Because she's as fine as she can be
Doing it all for my baby
For everything she does for me

Doin it
Doin it
Doin it doin it doin it yeah

Doin it
Doin it
Whoo hoo hoooo

Doin it
Doin it
Doin it doin it doin it yeah

Doin it
Doin it
Whoo hoo hoooo

Weekend Update

I had myself a crafty weekend. Wanna see? Go check out Cheekys Pages over there from my blogroll.

Friday night: It was movie night. Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Can I tell you how much I pink puffy heart this movie? Cause I do. AND I can't believe Mr. Cheeky had never seen it. Yeah, I was in shock too. Even manchild has seen it. As soon as he saw that it was on he came down and did the little hand thing that the alien does at the end. So there we are, manchild and I are doing the hand thing and Mr. Cheeky is just looking at us like - well, like we were aliens!

THEN, as I was watching the movie, I saw that The Day the Earth Stood Still was coming on right after. Ohhhh I wanted to stay up and watch this one but I couldn't make it. BUT I did find out, that they are remaking it and Keanu Reeves is playing Klaatu. It should be coming out in Dec of this year. We'll have to wait and see if that happens.

Saturday: Slept in to 8 and missed hockey practice. Didn't do too much Saturday morning (just a little laundry and walking) and then I spent the afternoon in my craft room while teenage daughter, manchild, and Mr. Cheeky went to the high school hockey games. I loved it!

We had honkers for dinner and then Mr. Cheeky needed to nap a little because he had to work (conference call and via internet) at midnight. While he was napping, I played more in my room. He got up, I went to bed.

Sunday: Up early cause I thought manchild had a game, nope, he just had practice and I don't have to go to the practices (just Mr. Cheeky unless he is not here). So I did a few things around the house. I didn't jump on the treadmill in the morning because I had just showered and was smelling good (LOL). Early afternoon we got Mr. Cheeky ready to travel again and when he left where did I go? Yep, you got it, my craft room! BUT no playing, I was re-arranging!. A fellow "Mr. Cheeky's Company" wife and a friend of hers are coming over Tuesday to scrap. The fellow wife has recently been recruited into the cult and we must make sure the brainwashing is sticking. Her friend is a seasoned scrapper.

So, as I was organizing and moving things around I realized I needed a few things and off I went. I got another cabinet (and it was on sale) so that was cool. I have moved everything around and when its all complete (today) I will have a stamping side of the room and a scrappin side. Yes, I will take pictures but not until its done.

Monday: Up early, and not in a nice way. Ever been woken up with an elbow to the side of the boobage? Yeah, well its a new one for me too and let me just tell ya, its not pleasant. Since Mr. Cheeky is traveling of course I can't sleep alone (or so manchild says) and so I let manchild sleep with me. We have a king size bed and usually manchild is good and stays on his side of the bed and I never know he's there - not last night. I was kicked, rolled on and then OOOOWWWW the elbow.

After the fog lifts, I will be jumping on the treadmill before waking up the manchild for school and then I will be finishing off my room.

Cheeky - who is singing an 80's one hit wonder I heard this weekend while in my room and now I can't get it out of my head unless I put it in yours......Slade - Run Runaway:

Hold on!

I like black and white (dreaming of black and white)
You like black and white
Run run away

See chameleon Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away

If you're in the swing (money ain't everything)
If you're in the swing
Run run away

See chameleon Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away

If you gotta crush (don't beat about the bush)
When I gotta crush
Run run away

See chameleon Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away

Oh now can't you wait (love don't come on a plate)
Oh now can't you wait
Run run away

See there chameleon
Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away

Run run away
Run run away
Run run away

Conversations with the manchild:
(scene: he is drinking the small remaining amount of lemonade out of the pitcher)

Cheeky: What are you doing?
Manchild: Drinking
Cheeky: So you are pretending that is a giant mug or something?
Manchild: Yeah, we'll go with that

Go show some love to Patti, het little one was attacked by a dog. She is home and doing ok but go show some love mmmkay?

Getting back to normal

Mr. Cheeky is back at work. The kids are back in school. My world is quiet again. Sometimes I don't like the quiet sometimes I do. Today is one of the days that I do.

I plan to spend the majority of the day down in my craft room and I am all giddy about it.

Oh and remember last week I said something about we are all smart and stuff. Well take a look at this.....

Even Kitty Girl is getting into the action. What is she reading? Oh just a little Harry Potter!

Tonight Taz and Shug are leaving us....Sylvester will be sad - Kitty Girl says - its about time!

We be Smart and other Random Stuff

Well its official, I live in a city that is literate. Woot! As a matter of fact, we are #1 on the list.

It appears that I am having to take the girls to the mall today. They just can't stand it. The gift cards are burning a hole in their pockets. I will go but I am not really looking for anything right now so I will just be the taxi driver. I think I have talked them out of going to MOA.

Tonight might be the night to officially meet Hockey boy. Teenage daughter asked me last night if he could come over tonight. Last time he wasn't feeling well so he didn't come. We will see if it happens this time.

I played in my craft room for a few hours last night and used my new chair that Santa brought me (much more comfy than the card table chair I was using). I won't tell you what I was creating because I know some of you will roll your eyes at me and say "already?". But I will say I am in the design phase and it is something you will receive if you are on "the list" but not for a while. I was also creating some cards for Moi as she won the card giveaway earlier in December. I think once the kids get back to school and things get back to normal I will be doing a lot more scrap pages. I will also actively be updating my craft page so ya'll can take a peek at my handy work if you want. The link is in my blogroll but I will put it in a post when I start updating it again. Its been a long time since I last updated it.

So far I have settled in to unemployment (retirement as my Daddy calls it) pretty well. I started all gung ho with all kinds of projects that I wanted to do but the holiday sort of side tracked them (yeah, that's it, it was the holiday). I think with the new year, it will motivate me to get back on them again.

Nothing really big planned for the weekend. Manchild has a game on Saturday. I may or may not take down the trees. I usually wait until New Year's Day but I think since NYD is in the middle of the week I may just want to go ahead and get it done now. I haven't decided yet.

So that's it - that's all I got for you this morning. Hope ya'll have a great weekend!

Weekend Update

Well I hope you have something to drink - ya'll might be here a while....have lots to tell.

Bunco Friday night. Had a blast. I met an entirely new set of neighbors. I knew 2 already and had spoken to a third but that was it. There were 17 ladies there and only 3 were not from the neighborhood. All but two of us were newbies to the game. After the first game (we played 4) everyone was comfortable with the game so then the chattiness began. So far so good with these ladies. I was very pleased that the conversations were not "about anyone" they were just general conversations which was nice. I did learn that one neighbor is preggers (she was the one I have spoken to but didn't really know prior to this shindig) and due in May (wait or was it March can't remember - its an M month give me that much credit mmmkay?). The food was great. We all brought an appetiser. And it was BYOB. I am really glad that I went. We are going to do this the first Friday of every month so the next one will be Jan. 4th.

Saturday:

We skipped the usual weekend breakfast. Oh we ate, but I didn't want much because my tummy was hurting (guess I need to start taking Prilosec again and no I wasn't hungover - geesh the things ya'll think about me....hehe) AND everyone was up before me. Man child had hockey practice and I went out to get the last 2 gift cards I needed before sending off my package to NC. It was a nightmare. Crowded. People being rude. I tried to be extra nice to the sales people and cashiers cause you could just see in their faces they were about to explode.

Got home and had our honkers for dinner. THEN it was off to a night of fun and games and it was ADULTS ONLY! Mr. Cheeky is on the Asian business counsel at work. No, he is not Asian. At any rate, he has met some really nice people and one of them invited us to her house for her annual game party. We played Wii, Guitar Hero, DDR and others. There was tons of food and drink, 70+ people, and no kids to nag. Mr. Cheeky and I really showed them all how to play Guitar Hero - they were all fairly new to it I guess so when we started out on something other than "easy" they just thought we were the bomb - and you know what? We were!! We really ARE Guitar Heroes! Got home just after 11.

Sunday: Up early again because Manchild had a hockey game at 7:15. They tied. They all played really well. I am glad to see the teams being really balanced as far as skill level is concerned. No one out doing the others or being "puck hogs". Makes for a much more enjoyable game to watch when they are evenly matched.

I also learned that Manchild will be carrying the American Flag for the highschool hockey game on Dec. 20th! He will be all dressed in his gear and skate around the rink with the flag. Teenage daughter is worried he will fall - oh she is not worried for him, but for HER! cause they will announce his name on the speaker when he comes out. (I think that's funny).

Later that morning we got home manchild chose the winner for the contest (Congrats Moi), Teenage daughter worked on homework, Mr. Cheeky slept, and I played in my craft room doing some last minute cards. Had some lunch and after a game of Warcraft Mr. Cheeky went ice fishing while I went back to the craft room.

We had Roasted Chicken Parmesean for dinner - oh my it was really really good and you know what - all I did was cook it. I got it from the deli at Costco! YUM! I wouldn't want it all the time but it was a nice treat when you don't feel like cooking (and its something different than Pizza).

Random Acts of Kindness......

OK I have been seeing a lot of contest kinds of things going around on blogs lately and I want in on the game. I think its fun. So here is what I propose....I am giving away 10 handmade cards (with matching envelopes) of your choice (assuming I have supplies on hand if you are wanting holiday cards - I am running low on some design components that I usually have to order). They can be Christmas, Birthday, Valentines Day, Thank You or Just Because cards. You can mix and match and choose whichever ones you want. I will be putting up a link with a sampling of cards you can choose.

How can you get these little goodies? COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT! Yep, that's all just read and comment (or if you wanna be a slacker you can just comment without reading but that's not any fun). At the end of the contest period I will put all the names in a bowl and let the manchild fish one out.

Since the holidays are fast approaching and someone may want these for the holidays I say the cut off will be Dec. 8th. I will hold the drawing the morning of the 9th and then notify the winner. If I don't have your email and if you are not a blogger (lurkers are welcome with this) make sure I have your email address so I can notify you.

So....COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT

Weekend Update with your host Cheeky

Ever have one of those weekends where you are busy but not busy?

Saturday morning got up early thanks to the screaming cat (who for the record is sitting beside me screaming as I type). So since I was up early, I started looking at my stamps and getting an idea for Turkey day cards (I am going to send them after all). Then, I went for a walk while the house was asleep. When I got back I see that Mr. Cheeky had made breakfast (as he always does) and then we were off. Mr. Cheeky and manchild were off to the first hockey practice of the season. Teenage daughter and I were off to shop. We were on a mission. She needed business clothes for a school function. I needed craft stuff. That is one of the pickiest people I know when it comes to clothes. She is small so finding the right size isn't the issue - her being picky is. ANYWAY....we found everything she needed AND was able to pay for it with an unused gift card we found last week when cleaning out the junk drawer. Gotta love it when that happens.

Then we were off to the local stamp shop to pick up a stamp that I have been trying to find for months. I had them order it for me. They were slow enough about it but I finally got it! Now ya'll need to get to having babies so I can use it LOL! I also got all the card stock I was going to need for my Turkey day card idea. I get home and see that Shell was looking on ebay and found me the cutest ever turkey day stamp - now I have to bid. Now I have to change my idea for the card....or maybe not. I may not get it.

Since Mr. Cheeky and manchild had gone fishing, I headed straight down to start on some cards. I figure I can do some of the ones that I had originally decided on and then if I DO win the stamp I can just do different cards (and ya'll will have to compare notes...haha). They turned out really cute - yes they did.

Ordered Pizza for dinner (yes, again Shell - shut it) and then off to Target for some shopping for the house (you know food and stuff). Didn't get home and settled in until almost 9 o'clock. At that point we just played some Warcraft and vegged.

Sunday: Up early again. Took teenage daughter to school (yes, on Sunday) to catch the bus for her function. She will be back after school on Monday. Stopped by Target to pick up Guitar Hero 3 oh yes, I did. Came home and started playing. Now, we play games on the 3rd level where the family room is. This is also the level where teenage daughter has her bathroom. DISGUSTING! I have had it. I figure at this point if she wants privacy, she has to earn it by keeping things clean. Otherwise, I will do it and anything and everything in those rooms is free game. I started with the bathroom. I pulled EVERY.SINGLE.THING out of it and scrubbed it from top to bottom. This is a small room ya'll and I was in there for almost half the day. Its purty now though and will be getting a paint job next weekend. If I had not been worn out from scrubbing that pit she calls a bathroom I would have started on her room. Its next. I am pretty booked for interviews Monday so she may have a final chance on the room....maybe.

I lost the Turkey day stamp. Shell was watching it for me too but of course someone snuck in at the last couple of seconds and got it. Luckily I was offered a "second chance" so YEAH I got my turkey day stamp! Woot! Now I gotta pay and wait for shipping.

Then while resting I decided it was time to be a Guitar Hero and a hero is what I became! OH I like this one. Some of the songs are pretty challenging and this one has a battle mode too! Took another walk to de-stress a little bit and then made dinner.

It was an early night cause Mr. Cheeky had to get up at 3:30am to catch an early flight. He will be in Dallas all week again.

So there you have it - a busy but not busy weekend. I am still tired and don't really want to make a pot of coffee just for me - but I am thinking I will.

Friday's steps: 3761 (yeah - not so much this day)
Saturdays steps: 10882 (woohooo broke the 10K mark)
Sunday's steps: 8320

I got tagged - oh yes I did

Seems like somebody out there (ICSCN) seems to think she wants to know a little bit about yours truly (like doing 300 things on a 300 post wasn't enough??? hehe) so cause I *heart* her so....I will do it....the Tag is that I have to post 6 things about me and of course tag others at the end.

1. Each night before falling asleep I have a little ritual. I do "the roll" where I roll over on to my right side with my right arm under the pillow. The pillow must be just right under my head and neck. Then if I am comfortable, I will crack my thumbs and crack my toes and off to sleep I will go. Sometimes my toes won't crack (on one foot) and I will just not feel complete before going to sleep.

2. When eating honkers, I make my own special sauce for dipping. Its A-1 and ketchup mixed together but its oh so yummy. Mr. Cheeky mixes A-1 bold and Heinz 57 - I think Heinz 57 is awful.

3. I may have mentioned this before but I am proud of this one and I think it needs repeating. I can burp. Loud and long. I can put Booger from Revenge of the Nerds to shame - oh yes I can. AND walking seems to stir up the juices - so on my morning walk - I am burping - loud and proud.

4. Even though I hate dealing with it, and I am NOT ready for it, I have to admit, watching/hearing the snow fall (not while driving of course) is really beautiful.

5. I STILL feel bamboozled! I keep saying this BUT.....I have YET to see the Northern Lights and I am told that you can see them from here. I think it was just another ploy to get me here.

6. I love to drive - in the proper car of course. Ask Katie, she will tell ya. I love to drive. AND I don't have a problem doing a U-ey if I need to (Patti is my witness to this one).

So there you have it. A few little known facts about the Cheekster. Who am I gonna tag....decisions decisions. Katie. Jana. Tommiea.

OH - Keep an eye on that mailbox.....if you are on "my list" then you will be receiving your first annual Halloween Card by Cheeky. Hmmm Cards by Cheeky....I like that! Anywho, they all went out in the mail yesterday. Those of you that are a little farther out - you know, across the ocean, I sent yours a few days earlier. Hopefully everyone will have theirs by Halloween. So now, its off to find a Turkey day card design - just haven't been inspired for those yet. I am not sure if they are going to happen.

NOW if you are jealous and wanted a card and didn't get one its either because #1 you didn't send me your address or #2 I lost it....but I am gonna go with #1 here. But be warned. Once I have your address you will be subject to random acts of card giving (well after the holidays anyway) at anytime during the year and without notice. I like to make them. I like to give them. And everyone likes getting stuff they don't expect in the mail (well good stuff, not bills and crap like that). So if you have surrendered your addy to me, you never know when you will get one (outside of the usual holidays of course).

394

This is post number 394. You know what that means? It means that 400 is right around the corner and its time to tackle the 400 things about me post. OK OK so 300 are already done but still ya'll try to do that many - it ain't easy. This one sort of snuck up on me so I feel a little pressure. I am sure that there are things that you wanna know so start asking. Especially those of you that are new to the blog or are the "lurkers" (I know you are there I see you - I am the great and powerful Cheeky after all). Come on - I am sure you have an enquiring mind and I am sure you want to know - so ask.

In other happenings, got the stitches out on Monday. Wait, got the STITCH out on Monday. I took the other ones out myself last Friday night. Why? you ask. Because they had come untied and were just hanging there so I couldn't NOT pull it out. Doc said its looking good. Its come open a little bit (but its healed enough inside that I think it will be ok). So now its time to keep ointment on it and try to soften that skin a little bit. You can't like hard skin on the heal. Its still a little sore just at the site but its getting better.

I have been stiff and sore for a few days and I couldn't figure out why and now I know - its the weather. Yeah I am the old lady that feels the weather change in her bones. Shut it!

OH and Shell has been on my case about posting some of my cards so...... for your viewing pleasure........(now this is just some of them if you want to see more, just let me know)

Its sort of hard to see the detail but you get the idea.

I have unleashed a monster. Teenage daughter has plans for the next couple of weekends to hit the TP circuit. "But Moooooooom its gonna snow before we know it - we have to do it while we cannnnnnnnn" She did ok for her first time out but she needed some pointers on how to do it. She will improve with time. She has a lot to live up to with her parents and their abilities, if she listens to us she will be up to speed in no time.

OK that is what I have for you today. I think I will sing a little Hall and Oates to get the day started for ya.....

What I want you've got
And it might be hard to handle
Like the flame that burns the candle
The candle feeds the flame
What I've got's full stock
Of thoughts and dreams that scatter
You pull them all together
And how I can't explain

Well, well you, you make my dreams come true
Well, well, well you, you make my dreams come true

On a night when bad dreams become a screamer
When they're messin with the dreamer
I can laugh it in the face
Twist and shout my way out
And wrap yourself around me
Cause I ain't the way you found me
And I'll never be the same

Well, well you, you make my dreams come true
Well, well, well you, you make my dreams come true
Listen to this....

I'm down on my daydream
Oh that sleepwalk should be over by now I know
You make my dreams come true
I've been waiting for you girl
You make my dreams come true

Back to our regularly scheduled programming

Ok enough Ted talk already. Let me give you a little weekend update. Friday night was homecoming at the highschool so the teenage daughter went to the game and festivities while Mr. Cheeky, the man child and I stayed home. We liked it that way. We sort of made it an early night. It had been a rough week so we started watching Fantastic Four (yet again - but prepping for the release of the Silver Surfer that comes out today and I will be purchasing even though we have already seen it in the theaters...but I digress)...where was I - OH yeah, we started out watching it down stairs then midway through headed upstairs to bed and finished it there. Well some of us finished it - others ....well lets just say there was a little background noise.

Saturday. My hobbling around was getting easier and less painful so we did a quick clean on the house. Mr. Cheeky and I - ok well I had the bright idea of going to play bingo at the casino, Mr. Cheeky came along for the ride. I love going to the casino to eat at the buffet and play bingo. I am an old lady like that. I have always loved playing bingo. I never win but I like to play. I will be one of those blue haired cat lady's that lives down the street that has a house full of cats and goes to play bingo every week when I retire - Yes I will - you wait and see. Anywho, during intermission I decided I had some more $$ to waste and got five dollars worth of 25cent pull tabs. I am pulling and wow I won 25cent. Oh wait there is another one and another one - woohoo! So at the end of the night I go turn in my tabs to get my whole 1.25 and the lady goes "ummm you know this one says 25 DOLLARS don't you?" What?! Sweet. I turned 5 into 25 - it must be my lucky night! (we won't discuss the fact that we spent like $125 on food and bingo - that doesn't count cause I won $25!).

Sunday. I went to a Stampin Up party with Suzie while the Mr. Cheeky and teenage daughter stayed home. Man child went to the movies with his buddy. I bought a few new things so I can't wait to get them. Speaking of....Saturday is world card making day and I have some events to attend. Woot!!!! Still hobbling on the foot but not as bad. Actually I can put it down now and put a little weight on it. I suspect I will be walking fairly normal in the next day or so.

Yeah, pretty uneventful again this weekend which is fine by me. Things are going to get really busy really fast and I like this time of year - you know, the calm before the storm. Mr. Cheeky is traveling again this week (only for a few days) so I will be playing again (in my craft room people - geesh get your minds OUT of the gutter mmmkay?).

I need to get some Halloween decorations up. I need (ok want - but isn't that the same thing?) to shop for more Halloween decorations.

OH one more thing....yesterday started the birthday month for Patti.....so go show her some love - all month - seriously - just go do it!

Weekend update

Well yet another busy but uneventful weekend at Chez Cheeky!

Friday night it was Pizza night (so much for watching what I eat). Then it was Guitar Hero. Mr. Cheeky and I set some all time high scores on there - yeah we were jammin! We kept giving each other high fives like we were really something....hilarious!

Saturday morning quick clean around (read clean up blood spots from my heel...ugh - going to the doc on Tuesday). After lunch we decided that we were going to head down south with the kids to an orchard and pumpkin patch and be silly and get lost in a corn maze. Well we almost made it. Almost. About 5 miles away traffic pretty much came to a stop. It took another hour to go about 3 miles. We got irritated and said - well crap on this. Asked the kids what they wanted to do and did a "U-ey". So we headed to Costco and spent more moolah. Then home for dinner. Again that evening we didn't do too much. I found a treadmill on Craigslist and made an offer - still waiting to see if she is going to accept.

Sunday morning. Woke up from yet another strange dream. In this dream Richie Sambora and I become BFF's and we dis Jon. Don't ask me how I come up with stuff. I don't know. Mr. Cheeky and man child went four wheeling up north. Teenage daughter went shopping with her friends and I played in my room and watched movies. It was a great day. I have lots of samples ready to send to Shell. Just have to do one more thing before sending them. I finished off all my Halloween cards and I want to mail them now but it is a little early (hehe) so since I have a little extra time I think I will do a Turkey day/Fall card. I might head out Monday afternoon to find a design. While card making I watched two movies - one really good one not so good. The not so good one was Behind the Mask - sort of a parody of a serial killer. One of the tag lines was Michael Myers needed someone to look up to. I thought it had potential (since I am a fan of Michael, Freddy, Jason and the bunch). No, it was stupid. But I did invest my time for the first half so I felt obligated to see it through. The second movie - Fracture - was GREAT! I lurve me some Sir Anthony Hopkins and he did me proud in this movie. I watched the alternate endings too but I like the one they chose for the movie.

Sunday night - we had Portobello stuffed chicken breasts and oh my they were incredible! Along with some of my tater salad that everyone in the family loves so I love to make it cause it makes them happy (awww isn't that a disgustingly sweet sentiment? But its true). Then it was premier time for Family Guy....ummmm I fell asleep. I didn't see the whole thing. I am ashamed....ashamed I tell you...but I did sleep really good.

Cheeky - who would sing you a song but just heard the man child horking in the bathroom and yeah - it doesn't sound good - so no time for singing now....If you wanna sing one I will do the back up.....

Randomness yet again

I have junk just bouncing around in this head of mine.

So, I watched the first episode of Kid Nation last night. I already have my favorites (Jared from GA is just crackin me up - talking about takin a poo...bwahaha) and those that I want to just smack (Mike on the council). I think the girl that got the 20K deserved it (and she cracked me up doing the dancing for $$ so she could buy the bike). Overall I thought it was pretty decent. Not sure if it will be an every week I have to see it kind of thing yet.

Tonight is SURVIVOR and I have known from past seasons if I don't watch the first one or two episodes then I don't watch it at all. I am watching tonight (just in case you were wondering).

Mr. Cheeky comes home today from his travels. While he was gone I have about 3/4 of my halloween cards DONE! Woot! He will be traveling again in a few weeks so I might just get a wild hair up my bootay and do Turkey day cards. I haven't ever done those and thought it might be nice. Now it will depend on if I can come up with a design I like. Looks like a trip to the stamp store for me....hehehe (I get all giddy when I think of the stamp store). OH speaking of.....my dear sweet darling Katie sent me a coupon for Michael's for 50% off so yeah - I will be going there too!

I have decided that I am going to go with the man child on his field trip to the zoo next week. I know only been in school for 2 weeks and already going on a field trip on week 3.

Had another really weird dream last night. Very odd. Had to do with space and Superman and swinging a kid (you know between two people) and letting him go and then him not coming back down but floating off into space. There was something else too and I remembered it when I woke up but didn't write it down and now I can't remember. I don't know what is up with this strange dream stuff lately.

Still pushing maximum density. Was gonna do a one week jump start diet that Tommeia sent to me but as it turns out it didn't happen this week. Maybe next week. I couldn't find my really good pedometer and have since bought two very crappy ones (one was $3 and one was $8) - I guess you get what you pay for. If I can't find my good one soon I will just have to get another one.

That is all I gots for ya today. So let me see if I can pick a really fun song to sing.....I am feeling like a little ELO......

Listen everybody let me tell you 'bout the rock'n'roll
Feel that rhythm and it's really gonna thrill your soul
She said come along with me, to a land of make believe
She said whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

She loves that rock'n'roll and she plays it all night long
That's all she ever tells me when I call her on the telephone
She says feel that jumpin' beat, and git up on your feet
She says whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

Oh let those guitars play
Play for me play for me
Oh let that song ring out
That's now it's meant to be

It rolls like a train that's comin' on down the track
She rolled over Beethoven and she gave Tchaikovsky back
She loves that drivin' beat, she goes dancin' on down the street
She said whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

Oh let those guitars play
Play for me play for me
Oh let that song ring out
That's now it's meant to be

When she comes around and I'm listenin' to the radio
She says you can't do that 'cos all I wanna do is rock'n'roll
Now here I'm gonna stay when that music starts to play
She says whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king
whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king
whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king
She said whamma-lamma, bamma-lamma, rock'n'roll is king

Weekend Update

It was a pretty uneventful weekend around Chez Cheeky. Friday night it was time for a little b-dubs and trivia! I kicked bootay on 2 of the 3 games. The last game was way out there. I held my own but that is about all I can say about that. Came home and it was still early so it was time for a little Guitar Hero. We hadn't played in a while so I was afraid I was really going to be bad but I guess I channeling my inner Jimmy Hendrix because we had some high score.

Saturday. Mr. Cheeky made some really AWESOME hash browns for breakfast. They weren't Waffle House good but they were a really close second. We sorta laid around for the morning and watched some Harry Potter. Then we decided we really needed to quit being so lazy so we got up, grabbed the kids and headed out. The first stop was to the local highschool where they were having a little craft show. It wasn't bad. I got 2 hanging towels from the washcloth granny (I am not being mean, this is what she called herself). Then off the the little festival our town was having. We were there about 30 minutes looking at all the old cars at the car show part of the festival and decided it was way too cold and windy. So we headed home to get properly dressed (it was like 5 mins from the house) and then went back. We saw all the booths and played in the petting zoo part.

We ate junk. Fried cheese curds and a massive serving of nachos. Then walked around a bit more. It was getting toward the end and the VFW Auxillary was having a fun little bingo game. Twenty five cents a card so Mr. Cheeky and I decided to play while the kids did the rides and kiddie events. Well, first game was a bust but then...I won the next 3 games in a row. No kidding. AND I had some massive jackpots ($2.25, 1.75. and 1.75) that allowed us to keep playing until it was time for them to pack up. Yeah, I know, we get excited about stuff like that. Came home and ......hung up my peg board in my craft room. Now this really made me happy cause now I can play with it and decorate it up!

Sunday. We were up early. Mr. Cheeky made breakfast again (he does this pretty much every weekend) and we were headed to Costco! After we got back it was time to pack him up for his trip this week. Got him all packed and then flipped between football and the race until it was time from him to go. After he left, I went straight downstairs into my craft room and started playing with my peg board and working on cards. I was there for hours and didn't even know it but I did get a lot done. I also started watching the first season of Weeds. I saw it in the store the other day and thought since there was such a buzz about it, I would get it to watch while I play. Yeah, I like this show. I made it through the first half of the first season. Yeah, I really like this show. It is really gonna stink when I get all of them watched and then can't watch it weekly (I get HBO not Showtime but I am thinking of changing this). After playing then I fed the man child (teenage daughter had already fended for herself) and then I sat and worked on my cards some more (I brought a project up stairs) and watched Anchorman. I loves me some Ron Burgandy, yes I do!

That's it - thats my weekend update. Its going to be a busy week here at Chez Cheeky with Mr. Cheeky being absent so I am glad it wasn't a stressful weekend.

Cheeky - who is singing a song inspired by Ron........

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been 'when it's right, it's right'
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night?
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
And we know the night is always gonna be there any way

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
A little afternoon delight
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Please be waiting for me, baby, when I come around
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Afternoon delight!

H.O.L.Y. Scrap!!!! (sorry its sort of a long post)

What a weekend! My dogs are barkin and my backs achin but man oh man what a weekend. So it started on Friday afternoon where I headed out to MOA to go ahead and get my registration badge and "gift". Then I started hitting each of the booths. Yes, there were lines but they were not as bad as last year (I only went on Saturday). Came home fairly early to beat the rush hour traffic and rest up a little before heading out to the "crop around town" in Coon Rapids. Our sponsor was a vendor that is fairly new and based out of MN (cool eh?) so they gave us lots of stuff. I arrived a few minutes early to get set up and waiting for me on the table was a bag of goodies from them. The vendor was Stemma (yeah I hadn't heard of them before either but I like them). There also was a really cute make and take in our bag as well. Also was a little small bag of munchies all decorated up....too cute. As I was getting my self organized and waiting for dinner (you don't want to have all your pics and stuff out and then try to eat around them....no bueno), I met the two cutest little old retired ladies that were sitting at the table next to me. Very sweet and out going ladies. We ended up swaping phone numbers so we can all scrap together at other times. They really were fun. I bet they are gonna call too.

Dinner arrives (it was lasagna, salad and bread from DaVanni's - YUM!) and was very very tasty. After quickly eating the scrapping began. It was a frenzy of paper and pictures and embellishments and tools - it was GREAT! I got lots of pages done and was quite proud of my self. I learned before going how to organize my stuff for travel so I am not constantly looking for things. Then the prizes began. We all got one from Archiver's (the store hosting) and it was packed with stuff (pics below). Lots of stuff that I can use. A few things I can't. Over the next day or so I will post pics of stuff that I won't or can't use and if you want it - its yours so just let me know. I hung around until they gave out the 2 grand prizes but it wasn't my lucky night for those. As soon as that was done I packed it up and called it a day.

Got home at about 12:30am. And went straight to bed.

Up again at 6:45am. Quick shower and made a scrambled egg for breakfast - grabbed and apple and a kashi bar (for energy while standing in line) and was out the door. Got to the mall and got serious rock star parking. First row, first space by the door just outside the rotunda where there crop was being held - PERFECT! I wouldn't have to drag my supplies halfway across the mall or parking garage - it was right there. Got in and stood in line for my class to begin (that is why I was there so early - I took a class). The class was hosted by Stampendous and those ladies didn't waste any time. Bing Bang Boom and before you know it class was over and we had made 3 cards (in 45 mins). VERY VERY cute cards - can't show them too you because I might be using them for my design this year - and I want you to be surprised. I will send one to you Shell since you haven't picked your design yet (I make her cards for her friends and family). NOW IF you are interested in maybe having me do your cards too, well then I will show ya. Got my little goodie bag from them (nicely done by the way and not super expensive but had some quality items in there). Then it was down to the main floor for more booths and standing in line. I did quite a few of the make and takes and got lots of ideas for future things. Around lunch time I wasn't in the mood for the fast food from the food court to I went to Tony Romas.

OH MY. So I was alone(Suzanna hadn't gotten there for the day yet) so I decided to sit in the bar so I could watch some of the college games. There wasn't really many people there. A table of 20-somethings thinking they are all that, myself, and a dude behind me that apparently is a regular - Dominic. The bartender - Scott - was hilarious. So as I am sitting there waiting for my burger, I group of guys are sitting there bragging about how hard they party and how much they drink - blah blah basically the jock type stroking their own egos. Scott hears this and just shows up at their table with a double shot of something. Sat in on the table and said "here drink this". They asked what it was and he wouldn't tell - victim one took and and it was all he could do to get it down. The other guys were giving him crap. Scott took his finger and swabbed the bottom and then lit the remnants of the liquid on his finger on fire. Yep, that was some strong stuff. So a few minutes later, Scott shows up with another double shot to give to the one that was really running his trap. He drank it but it they were done. They quickly paid their bill, tucked their tails between their legs and was out of there - they couldn't admit Scott had one on them. I was giggling to myself. Scott saw me and smiled cause he knew that I knew what he was doing. Over all - good food, good service, good entertainment....I wished they were closer I would love to hang out there regularly like Dominic - he was good people and they treated him good too (lots of things on the house for this guy).

Back out to the scrapfest for a few more hours and then I was really tired. I had 2 hours to go before the crop began at 6:30 and needed to get off my feet for a while so I decided to go out to the car, put the seat back, and rest. I didn't sleep but I did kick off my shoes and stretch out a bit and that was nice. Then in at 6:30 for the crop. Dinner was from Famous Dave's (I am not a fan - they are so-so but its just not southern BBQ). Then let the crop begin. Our vendor was EK success and again we got some really good stuff from them. Another really full goodie back from Archivers (with different things that I had gotten the night before). Got lots of good ideas and talked with some really funny ladies from Colorado. Again, got several pages done (this album is almost done - woohoo). I was trying really hard to hold out for the grand prizes (if you are not there you don't get them). It was all I could do to stay that long. The prizes weren't given out until midnight and I was losing steam around 10. But I did it. I made it through.

Got home just after 1am. Had a glass of wine to relax and crashed.

Sunday: I didn't really sleep in as much as I thought I would but I did feel the results of my actions over the past two days. As I was putting my feet on the floor to get out of the bed and I stood - I realized that I need a little more exercise. My lets and feet were really sore. After I moved around a little bit though things were ok. Maybe I am just getting old........nah..... Spent most of the day hanging out with the family since I really didn't see them much over the previous 2 days. I just took it easy.

So here are the pics of all my goodies (don't be hatin')....

This is the goodie bag from Archivers on Friday night

This is the goodie back from the sponsor - Stemma. The little pail was the make and take they brought.

This is the goodie bag from Archivers on the second night....

This is the goodie bag from EK Success on the second night....

These are some of the items that I purchased during the event. Sort of random things but I needed some of them for current projects...

BUT - my FAVORITE purchase of the weekend is THIS (fellow crafters - don't be hatin')....

Yeah, well just Scrap it!

So today begins the weekend that is Scrapfest. I wait for this event all year. Starting today, I will be pretty much be MIA from Chez Cheeky cause I will be at the MOA all weekend. After man child heads out to school I am headed out. Tonight Suzanna is going to join me and we are going to one of the "crop around town" events and get our scrap on! I won't be home until probably around 1ish in the morning. Then up at the butt crack of dawn (I love saying that - I don't know why) and headed back to MOA for a class and more of the booths. I will meet up with Suzanna after the class. Then another "crop around town" event at MOA. Again, it won't be over until 12:30am so I am just gonna crash with Suzanna at her pad.

I have all my stuff ready for the crops and hope to get lots of pages done. I love the crop around town events. They are sponsored by some vendor and lots of goodies and giveaways. Oh and they feed you too so yeah that's another bonus.

The next big scrapping event will be in October and this is where I officially become a member (and no longer a pledge) to Phi Delta Scrappa. It will be an all weekend event too.

Cheeky - who in honor of last night's new season premier of Don't Forget the Lyrics is gonna sing a little Rapper's Delight for ya (can ya'll believe he picked that song over Tainted Love? I mean really.....he didn't know Tainted Love? Everybody knows that one.....geesh BUT it was funny seeing him sing Rapper's Delight)....
Oh and its only gonna be a litte cause that song is way long and I don't feel like typing that much - gotta save the dexterity in my hands for scrappin ya know....

I said a hip hop the hippie the hippie
to the hip hip hop, a you don't stop
the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie
to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat

Now what you hear is not a test--I'm rappin to the beat
and me, the groove, and my friends are gonna try to move your feet
see I am wonder Mike and I like to say hello
to the black, to the white, the red, and the brown, the purple and yellow
but first I gotta bang bang the boogie to the boogie
say up jump the boogie to the bang bang boogie

Let's rock, you don't stop
rock the riddle that will make your body rock
well so far you've heard my voice but I brought two friends along
and next on the mic is my man Hank
come on, Hank, sing that song

Time to get organized....

First things first ....RIP

Now on to the originally scheduled post....

OK with school starting back that only means one thing - the holidays will soon be upon us (frightening isn't it?). So as I start getting my stuff together for Scrapfest this weekend I realize that its also time to start getting organized and get things in order for the holidays as well. Ya'll know that I LURVE to send out my special homemade cards and I have been collecting addresses over the years (years? I have been blogging for years? well ok maybe a year and a half...no wait it is 2!). If I don't have your address and you would like to have one of my special homemade cards just send me an email: cheekygrin30@yahoo.com, with your mailing address (if you think I have it but aren't sure - send me an email anyway, and if you have moved, send me an updated addy please). Don't worry, I won't stalk you (I will send you my addy if it makes you feel better) but I will add you to the send a random card every now and then to make you smile list. Seriously, just ask around. If I read you are going through a rough time, I will send you a card to perk you up. If I read that someone near and dear has passed away, I will send you a card. If it is your birthday (and I know about it of course) I will send you a card. If it is just a random day and I haven't sent one in a while, I will send you a card. Its just what I do mmmmkay? So send me those addresses!!

And for today's listening pleasure I give you a little ELO.....

You got me running going out of my mind
You got me thinking me that I'm wasting my time

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

You want to stay out with your fancy friends
I'm telling you it's gotta be the end

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down

What happened to the girl I used to know
You let your mind out somewhere down the road

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

You're always talkin' 'bout your crazy nights
One of these days you're gonna get it right

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down

You're looking good just like a snake in the grass
One of these days you're gonna break your glass

Don't bring me down
No no, no no, no no, no no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

You got me shaking, got me running away
You got me crawling up to you every day

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Down, down, down, down, down
I'll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Weekend Update....with your host Cheeky!

Friday night. The teenage daughter headed down to the Twins game with her friend and her friend's family. So the man child, Mr. Cheeky and I headed on down to B-dubs for some wings and trivia. I wasn't really into the trivia this time around becuse they were playing the X-games on the big screen (before the Twins game came on)and man child was all into it - yeah, that's it, it was HIM that was into it. No not me. Not at all. Came home with full bellies and proceeded to play Guitar Hero until after midnight. How is it that time flies when you are rockin'?

Saturday - slept in. It was a cool and overcast day. Little drizzley. Goofed around the house in the morning and then went to scout out a new craft store. OMG....I could have droped a small fortune in this store. I was good. I contained myself. I only bought a few things. I can't say that I will be able to do that in the future. (Oh and Shell honey - you HAVE to come here now - the sister store was a BEAD store...you HAVE to come now....HAVE TO...GOT IT? Good....). After I got home, I went down in my room to play a little and created some really cute cards ya'll. Mr. Cheeky and the man child scouted out a new fishing spot and the teenage daughter and her friend went babysitting. That evening, we just whipped up a little something light for dinner and watched The Omen on HBO (or was it Cinemax? I dunno - we just watched it). Then it was round two of Guitar Hero! Yep, once again played until Mad TV came on. Watched that and then it was off to snoozeville.

Sunday - slept in again. Had a lazy morning. It was still cool and overcast so I just snuggled up under a blanket and watched My Cousin Vinny. I *heart* this movie. I haven't seen it all the way through in a while. Joe Pesci really does a great job and makes me giggle. Headed out to the local chain craft store to get my free goodies (from the newsletter) then headed home. Teenage daughter and her friend (yes the same one - you know "L" my MN adopted daughter) went to "L"'s church to work the fund raiser. Man child and Mr. Cheeky went fishing again and I played down stairs while watching Family Guy on DVD. Dinner was quick and easy again. Hotdogs! Yeah not very nutritiuos but oh so yummy!

So it was sort of a cool, lazy, do what you want to kind of weekend. I did notice a few things that need to be changed however - behaviors that need just a little bit of modificaiton that will start this week. Nothing major, just have given them a little too much rope if you know what I mean, time to reel them back in before they get too far out of control ya know?
