Weekend Update
I had myself a crafty weekend. Wanna see? Go check out Cheekys Pages over there from my blogroll.
Friday night: It was movie night. Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Can I tell you how much I pink puffy heart this movie? Cause I do. AND I can't believe Mr. Cheeky had never seen it. Yeah, I was in shock too. Even manchild has seen it. As soon as he saw that it was on he came down and did the little hand thing that the alien does at the end. So there we are, manchild and I are doing the hand thing and Mr. Cheeky is just looking at us like - well, like we were aliens!
THEN, as I was watching the movie, I saw that The Day the Earth Stood Still was coming on right after. Ohhhh I wanted to stay up and watch this one but I couldn't make it. BUT I did find out, that they are remaking it and Keanu Reeves is playing Klaatu. It should be coming out in Dec of this year. We'll have to wait and see if that happens.
Saturday: Slept in to 8 and missed hockey practice. Didn't do too much Saturday morning (just a little laundry and walking) and then I spent the afternoon in my craft room while teenage daughter, manchild, and Mr. Cheeky went to the high school hockey games. I loved it!
We had honkers for dinner and then Mr. Cheeky needed to nap a little because he had to work (conference call and via internet) at midnight. While he was napping, I played more in my room. He got up, I went to bed.
Sunday: Up early cause I thought manchild had a game, nope, he just had practice and I don't have to go to the practices (just Mr. Cheeky unless he is not here). So I did a few things around the house. I didn't jump on the treadmill in the morning because I had just showered and was smelling good (LOL). Early afternoon we got Mr. Cheeky ready to travel again and when he left where did I go? Yep, you got it, my craft room! BUT no playing, I was re-arranging!. A fellow "Mr. Cheeky's Company" wife and a friend of hers are coming over Tuesday to scrap. The fellow wife has recently been recruited into the cult and we must make sure the brainwashing is sticking. Her friend is a seasoned scrapper.
So, as I was organizing and moving things around I realized I needed a few things and off I went. I got another cabinet (and it was on sale) so that was cool. I have moved everything around and when its all complete (today) I will have a stamping side of the room and a scrappin side. Yes, I will take pictures but not until its done.
Monday: Up early, and not in a nice way. Ever been woken up with an elbow to the side of the boobage? Yeah, well its a new one for me too and let me just tell ya, its not pleasant. Since Mr. Cheeky is traveling of course I can't sleep alone (or so manchild says) and so I let manchild sleep with me. We have a king size bed and usually manchild is good and stays on his side of the bed and I never know he's there - not last night. I was kicked, rolled on and then OOOOWWWW the elbow.
After the fog lifts, I will be jumping on the treadmill before waking up the manchild for school and then I will be finishing off my room.
Cheeky - who is singing an 80's one hit wonder I heard this weekend while in my room and now I can't get it out of my head unless I put it in yours......Slade - Run Runaway:
Hold on!
I like black and white (dreaming of black and white)
You like black and white
Run run away
See chameleon Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away
If you're in the swing (money ain't everything)
If you're in the swing
Run run away
See chameleon Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away
If you gotta crush (don't beat about the bush)
When I gotta crush
Run run away
See chameleon Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away
Oh now can't you wait (love don't come on a plate)
Oh now can't you wait
Run run away
See there chameleon
Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away
Run run away
Run run away
Run run away

Random Friday
See this?

Now I am accountable.........ya'll can harass me if you see that I am not making progress. I am walking to Charleston to the beach. I will be putting this in my side bar after today so ya'll can keep your eye on me. Just remember, I do better with positive reinforcement capish? The miles are at zero right now cause its 6:23am and I haven't gotten on the treadmill yet. As I get on, I will update the ticker so if you are reading this post at the end of the day it might not be at zero. AND I am only counting treadmill time, not total steps for the day from the pedometer.
Like Katie I have done really well at not eating out so much. I have cooked every night this week. Now Friday is our usual order Pizza night but instead, tonight its going to be "clean out the fridge" and "fend for yourself" night.
I am halfway through making my V-day cards. Its been a slower process because it requires some drying time. So once again if you want to be on "the list" be sure to email me with your addy. I like adding new people (even lurkers). I have sort of made it a little personal goal to send my cards to someone in every state in the US. And now that I am retired and have more time, if you want to purchase cards to send out for yourself....just let me know :)
Not too much planned for the weekend as of right now. We have to get Mr. Cheeky packed and ready to travel again. He leaves on Sunday but just for a few days. Dallas again I think.
I am going to start looking for our tickets to Orlando today. We are going in March - woohooo!
That's it - That's all I got for ya today so I am gonna sing a little ditty for ya. Now I know you are thinking I will sing the Proclaimers 500 miles but nah not today that would be too predictable and we don't want that do we? I am gonna go a little old school on ya (I know a lot of tunes ya'll). Wanna guess.... come one take a guess......perhaps a little Fats Domino....I loves me some Fats!
It's time I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm going to need two pair of shoes
When I get through walkin' to you
When I get back to New Orleans
I've got my suitcase in my hand
Now, ain't that a shame
I'm leavin' here today
Yes, I'm goin' back home to stay
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans
You used to be my honey
Till you spent all my money
No use for you to cry
I'll see you bye and bye
Cause I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I've got no time for talkin'
I've got to keep on walkin'
New Orleans is my home
That's the reason why I'm goin'
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans

Not much in the way blogging fodder...
So since Halloween is tomorrow I give you this......
| You Are a Werewolf |
You're unpredictable, moody, and downright freaky. You seem sweet and harmless, until you snap. Then you're a total monster. Very few people can predict if you're going to be Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. But for you, all your transformations seem perfectly natural.
Your greatest power: Your ability to tap into nature
Your greatest weakness: Lack of self control
You play well with: Vampires |
In other news, I had the little talk with teenage daughter and she seemed to take it well with out pushing back. She was either #1 too tired from the events or #2 finally learning when to choose her battles. I am going with #1 here.
Steps for Monday: I dunno. I was so swamped with work yesterday I had a 15 min break where I could jump in the shower. I did but when I got out I had to rush to get back to a call and didn't put the pedometer back on. Later in the day like 5ish I wanted to see where I was on the count and realized I didn't have it on...GRRRRrrrrr. So IF I had to guess and apparently I do, I would say somewhere in the 4-5000 range. Not a big walking day since I was tied to the desk all day.Labels: Horror, Teenage Daughter, Walking

Weekend Update with your host Cheeky
Ever have one of those weekends where you are busy but not busy?
Saturday morning got up early thanks to the screaming cat (who for the record is sitting beside me screaming as I type). So since I was up early, I started looking at my stamps and getting an idea for Turkey day cards (I am going to send them after all). Then, I went for a walk while the house was asleep. When I got back I see that Mr. Cheeky had made breakfast (as he always does) and then we were off. Mr. Cheeky and manchild were off to the first hockey practice of the season. Teenage daughter and I were off to shop. We were on a mission. She needed business clothes for a school function. I needed craft stuff. That is one of the pickiest people I know when it comes to clothes. She is small so finding the right size isn't the issue - her being picky is. ANYWAY....we found everything she needed AND was able to pay for it with an unused gift card we found last week when cleaning out the junk drawer. Gotta love it when that happens.
Then we were off to the local stamp shop to pick up a stamp that I have been trying to find for months. I had them order it for me. They were slow enough about it but I finally got it! Now ya'll need to get to having babies so I can use it LOL! I also got all the card stock I was going to need for my Turkey day card idea. I get home and see that Shell was looking on ebay and found me the cutest ever turkey day stamp - now I have to bid. Now I have to change my idea for the card....or maybe not. I may not get it.
Since Mr. Cheeky and manchild had gone fishing, I headed straight down to start on some cards. I figure I can do some of the ones that I had originally decided on and then if I DO win the stamp I can just do different cards (and ya'll will have to compare notes...haha). They turned out really cute - yes they did.
Ordered Pizza for dinner (yes, again Shell - shut it) and then off to Target for some shopping for the house (you know food and stuff). Didn't get home and settled in until almost 9 o'clock. At that point we just played some Warcraft and vegged.
Sunday: Up early again. Took teenage daughter to school (yes, on Sunday) to catch the bus for her function. She will be back after school on Monday. Stopped by Target to pick up Guitar Hero 3 oh yes, I did. Came home and started playing. Now, we play games on the 3rd level where the family room is. This is also the level where teenage daughter has her bathroom. DISGUSTING! I have had it. I figure at this point if she wants privacy, she has to earn it by keeping things clean. Otherwise, I will do it and anything and everything in those rooms is free game. I started with the bathroom. I pulled EVERY.SINGLE.THING out of it and scrubbed it from top to bottom. This is a small room ya'll and I was in there for almost half the day. Its purty now though and will be getting a paint job next weekend. If I had not been worn out from scrubbing that pit she calls a bathroom I would have started on her room. Its next. I am pretty booked for interviews Monday so she may have a final chance on the room....maybe.
I lost the Turkey day stamp. Shell was watching it for me too but of course someone snuck in at the last couple of seconds and got it. Luckily I was offered a "second chance" so YEAH I got my turkey day stamp! Woot! Now I gotta pay and wait for shipping.
Then while resting I decided it was time to be a Guitar Hero and a hero is what I became! OH I like this one. Some of the songs are pretty challenging and this one has a battle mode too! Took another walk to de-stress a little bit and then made dinner.
It was an early night cause Mr. Cheeky had to get up at 3:30am to catch an early flight. He will be in Dallas all week again.
So there you have it - a busy but not busy weekend. I am still tired and don't really want to make a pot of coffee just for me - but I am thinking I will.
Friday's steps: 3761 (yeah - not so much this day)
Saturdays steps: 10882 (woohooo broke the 10K mark)
Sunday's steps: 8320Labels: Crafts, Shopping, Walking, Weekend Update

Back to our regularly scheduled programming
Ok enough Ted talk already. Let me give you a little weekend update. Friday night was homecoming at the highschool so the teenage daughter went to the game and festivities while Mr. Cheeky, the man child and I stayed home. We liked it that way. We sort of made it an early night. It had been a rough week so we started watching Fantastic Four (yet again - but prepping for the release of the Silver Surfer that comes out today and I will be purchasing even though we have already seen it in the theaters...but I digress)...where was I - OH yeah, we started out watching it down stairs then midway through headed upstairs to bed and finished it there. Well some of us finished it - others ....well lets just say there was a little background noise.
Saturday. My hobbling around was getting easier and less painful so we did a quick clean on the house. Mr. Cheeky and I - ok well I had the bright idea of going to play bingo at the casino, Mr. Cheeky came along for the ride. I love going to the casino to eat at the buffet and play bingo. I am an old lady like that. I have always loved playing bingo. I never win but I like to play. I will be one of those blue haired cat lady's that lives down the street that has a house full of cats and goes to play bingo every week when I retire - Yes I will - you wait and see. Anywho, during intermission I decided I had some more $$ to waste and got five dollars worth of 25cent pull tabs. I am pulling and wow I won 25cent. Oh wait there is another one and another one - woohoo! So at the end of the night I go turn in my tabs to get my whole 1.25 and the lady goes "ummm you know this one says 25 DOLLARS don't you?" What?! Sweet. I turned 5 into 25 - it must be my lucky night! (we won't discuss the fact that we spent like $125 on food and bingo - that doesn't count cause I won $25!).
Sunday. I went to a Stampin Up party with Suzie while the Mr. Cheeky and teenage daughter stayed home. Man child went to the movies with his buddy. I bought a few new things so I can't wait to get them. Speaking of....Saturday is world card making day and I have some events to attend. Woot!!!! Still hobbling on the foot but not as bad. Actually I can put it down now and put a little weight on it. I suspect I will be walking fairly normal in the next day or so.
Yeah, pretty uneventful again this weekend which is fine by me. Things are going to get really busy really fast and I like this time of year - you know, the calm before the storm. Mr. Cheeky is traveling again this week (only for a few days) so I will be playing again (in my craft room people - geesh get your minds OUT of the gutter mmmkay?).
I need to get some Halloween decorations up. I need (ok want - but isn't that the same thing?) to shop for more Halloween decorations.
OH one more thing....yesterday started the birthday month for Patti.....so go show her some love - all month - seriously - just go do it!Labels: Crafts, Walking, Weekend Update

Going through the big D and other Randomness
Still not a lot going on. I made it through yesterday's interviews - woohoo!
Now before ya'll get all worked up. The big D I am referring to here is Dallas. Mr. Cheeky is headed out that way next week. So I will have the evenings to myself next week. I see lots of crafting in my future. BUT then again, it is premier week on a lot of my shows and the cable connection in my craft room sucks. I can't get the local channels. So, I may just have to bring stuff up stairs and work on it cause this girl has gotta see her some House and CSI among other shows. Maybe this is why my backside has spread.
So, yesterday I strapped on the ol pedometer and realized just how sedinatary I really am. Now, not that I am am rationalizing here (well maybe I am a little bit), I did have lots of interviews that kept me in my chair. Let's see how today goes before getting all depressed about it. As I was thinking about ways to keep myself motivated, I was thinking that I might take a virutal walking journey by logging my steps per day (week, whatever) and plot them on a map and start visiting my friends or places that I have always wanted to go. There was a group of us that did something similar to this when I worked on site with my company in Charleston. We walked from Charleston out to California and back hitting all the major landmarks along the way. We even had someone that would do a bi-weekly newsletter where she had photoshoped pictures to put us in the actual locations. It was really a fun thing to do. Obviously a group logging their steps will get you somewhere faster than a single person but...Hey it still might be fun. Soooooo who wants to be first on my list????
I have taken to drinking coffee fairly regularly again. I am not hooked....yet. I have been getting up early everyday with Mr. Cheeky and since its been chilly I have been making my coffee. I lurve good coffee. I really do. I used to drink it all day long with no problems (except that awful caffiene headache if I didn't get it). When I started having sleep issues I pretty much stopped having coffee (along with other things). It didn't necessarily solve my sleep problem but I did break that caffiene addiction. This time around I only have one cup maybe a cup and a half and I am done.
Cheeky who is gonna sing this again, just because it is very appropriate.....
When I wake up, well I know i'm gonna be,
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next you ( what )
When I go out,( when i go out ) well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
If I get drunk, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
When I haver, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
When I'm working, yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money, comes in for the work I do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home(When I come home), well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
When I grow-old,(When I grow-old) well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles

And when I'm dreaming, well I know I'm gonna dream
I'm gonna Dream about the time when I'm with you
When I go out(When I go out), well I know I'm gonna be

And when I come home(When I come home), yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home wi you
