Why Is It....

That when you plan to go and do something fun....like say...go to the state fair, that it turns out to be cold and rainy? Well its overcast but it stormed this morning and its going to storm again this afternoon. So much for the fair........well for today anyway.

Trying something new

Today I am going to do something that I have never done before. And as a southern girl I am a little ashamed of myself for not having done this in the past. Today, I am going to make a peach cobbler.......from scratch. Wish me luck!

Let's play a game....

So on one of the message boards someone started a little game yesterday and I thought it was cute and thought I would let ya'll in on the fun.

Go to Google and put in your name and the word needs after (like this: Cheeky needs) and then do a search and see what the first 10 things are. For this little exercise I used my real name.

Cheeky needs:

1. Help
2. A sewing machine
3. To get a clue
4. To add passion and talk a bit more about herself and her experiences and the things that make her angry.
5. To get help (yep it was there twice)
6. To warm up to animal welfare
7. More icons 'cuz she's SIMming again!!!
8. Time and Space
9. Help (the third time's a charm huh? Think somebody is trying to tell me something?)
10. To make sure that her noisy learning group does not disturb others when they are reading

Not gonna tag anyone but if you played let me know!

I Blame My Daddy

You know, there are things in life that you can take total responsibility for and then there are things that you must blame on others....this is one of those things.

This weekend, I was watching TV, I don't even remember what channel - maybe it was the Sci-Fi channel I can't remember but that is not the point here so let's not get off track. So, I was watching TV (Yes, now I remember it WAS the Sci-Fi Channel) and I saw the previews for an upcoming movie. One about martial arts - but not just any martial arts - oh no, it was Kung Fu. As in David Carridine TV series Kung Fu. It was a movie starring none other than the aging David Carridine. It appears to be a contuation of the tv series where David aka Kwai Chang Caine (did I shock you that I knew that? Well I shocked myself) will have to come in and kick some bootay.

Now what I blame on my Daddy is the fact that when I saw this preview I immediately thought to myself "Wow, that looks like a good movie - I will have to remember when it comes on so I can watch it". Excuse me? I am a 36 year old scrapbooking girly girl and I want to watch a kung fu movie with David Carridine? See, I blame my Daddy because as kid, I was forced (yes forced cause when you are a kid - well when you were a kid back in the day - you watched what the Daddy watched) to watch this TV series. Every single time it came on TV we watched it. Its ingrained in me now. Not by choice. Now I know you are saying "Well, now you are an adult you can watch anything you want on TV" and I would reply to you "No, I can't - cause I actually LIKE this crap now". Can you imagine?

Perhaps it touches that dark super hero side of me where I picture myself as some big bad mamma jamma that would rather kick your bootay than to look at you. Perhaps it touches that mystical side. Perhaps - I should just blame my Daddy.

A weekend of Firsts

Well hello out there in blogland - I am just getting back from my weekend getaway.

But before I get into the details let me say a very HUGE and heart felt THANK YOU to Bella - without whom this trip would not have been possible because it was Bella that became the interim HBIC at Chez Cheeky and kept an eye on the childrens. THANKS BELLA - you totall Rock!

I flew down on Friday - pretty uneventful. Did some driving around and tried to decide what we wanted to do the next day. Had ribs at Logans - yum! We stayed just a street or two off the beaten path and we waited in line for NOTHING this trip. No wait for food - nothing (well unless you count the unbelievably long lines at Wally World).

Saturday, we drove out to St. Pete and I dipped my tooties in the Gulf of Mexico for the very first time EVER! Only took me 36 years to do it. While there we visited a state park and also did a self tour of Fort DeSoto which was very interesting. After we got back to the room we freshened up and went to an All Can Eat Buffet that featured Lobster, Prime Rib and Crab Legs. Yes, you read that right - LOBSTER! Now I have to say I am a little disappointed in my performance here. I really thought I could put down much more than I did. But alas, the stomach just isn't as big as it used to be. It was very good though and very reasonably priced.

Sunday we headed out to Cocoa Beach (that's the Atlantic Ocean - yes two coasts in one weekend) for a while. Very hot. No breeze. Could only take it for a few hours (we have become wimps). Came back and relaxed by the pool for a while. Had a light dinner and got me a rental car for the next day.

Monday - Mr. Cheeky headed back to work and I stayed a while to play with my friend Jessica! We had a GREAT time! We chatted like we were long lost friends that hadn't seen each other in years. Had you been a fly on the wall you would have never known this was our first meeting IRL. We had a fabulous lunch at Cafe Mia and then shopped around at the Mall and then and Ikea where we proceeded to get ourselves lost on more than one occasion! She also made me a very nice Friends book (complete with flamingos!). I do wish we lived closer - but I am so looking forward to repaying the hospitality one day if she makes her way up to Minneapolis!

I got in late and promptly took myself to my very own bed!

I had this great post

Had it right there in my head and ya know what? It escaped. Don't know where it went. Maybe its hiding and just playing peek a boo or something. I mean, it was such a good one. Had all the great elements of a fabulous post. Humor. Intrigue. Interesting twist at the end.....but yeah....its gone.

So, I guess I have to give you what I can come up with now, boring as it may be. Not much is going on these days at Chez Cheeky. I did get the final book in the series (that I talked about in my last post) and read it cover to cover in a day. Yes, it was 754 pages. Yes, it was good. A nice clean ending but if the author ever wanted to do another one she could. I like that. I went out yesterday and got another book by the same author. This one is a little odd. Was a little difficult getting my brain wrapped around what she was talking about (aliens instead of vampires) but its coming together nicely. I don't feel the need to sit and read this one in a single sitting like the others - which is fine. I am sure the kids will appreciate a warm meal or something. I am also going to be getting some of the ones that ya'll suggested too. My appetite for reading has really gone into overdrive lately.

My girl Bella is coming to be the HBIC of Chez Cheeky this weekend while I take some R&R WITHOUT the children. Let me repeat that last part for you WITHOUT.THE.CHILDREN. I am headed down to Florida for a few days. I intend on seeing the beach while there - the real ocean beach not some fake lake beach that they have here. Mother ocean is calling my name. Just listen... Cheeeeeeeeeky.....Cheeeeeeeeeky......can you hear it?? Well then, listen harder - geesh.
