Will you be my Valentine? AND The Terror Continues....

So its the day of hearts and flowers and mushy gushy love stuff. Mr. Cheeky has surprised me by working from home today so we can spend some time together before he travels tomorrow. I am making him one of his favorite meals for dinner. Its just gonna be a love fest up in here! Well as much as it can be because.......

Now for the second half of the title:

The terrorist has finally loosened his grip on teenage daughter. Not completely but at least the fever is at bay. She is still hacking like a 20 year smoker but at least she is on the upswing. BUT the terrorist has moved on....to the manchild. He came home from school fine. Within an hour he had a 100.2 temp. As I type, he is in MY bed burning up with fever and shivering under the covers. We didn't take his temp, Mr. Cheeky just got up and got him meds and said here drink this. Manchild also has the hack. So he will be at home from school the rest of the week if it is anything like what teenage daughter has. The fever will be here for a few days. I am going to call his teacher and go pick up his Valentine goodies today - I hate that he is going to miss the party.

Shell - we might need that lysol bomb now......

Cheeky who was gonna sing - I'm burnin I'm burnin I'm burnin for you....decided to get her mind off the terrorist and sing some mushy gushy love stuff for ya....Now you MUST hit play and you MUST sing along - and you KNOW you want to....so this my internets - is my gift to you.....enjoy!

Love, exciting and new,
Come aboard.
We're expecting you.
Love, life's sweetest reward.
Let it flow,
it floats back to you.

The Love Boat
soon will be making another run.
The Love Boat promises something for everyone.
Set a course for adventure,
Your mind on a new romance.

Love won't hurt anymore
It's an open smile on a friendly shore.

It's Looooove!
Welcome aboard - It's Looooove!

Was Santa Good to You?

He was good to me and I am not just thinking of the gifts and toys (but I got some good ones), I am talking about the fact that our family - just the four of us, have been together in the same house since Friday night and no one is fussing, no one is fighting, we have been laughing and cuttin' up and actually enjoying each other. And THAT makes for a really wonderful holiday.

Yesterday, you know Christmas Day? I had my VERY FIRST WHITE CHRISTMAS! I am not just talking about snow on the ground but it was actually SNOWING. Very cool. Its snowing again now as I type this and I can't be happy about it. On Christmas Day I can be happy about it - but only then (just in case any of you were confused).

And just in case ya'll were wondering, not only is the Cheeky family Guitar Heroes but now we are gonna be dancing fools - I got DDR Universe 2! (That would be Dance Dance Revolution for those of you not in the know). Seriously, we could be the next Osmond's - only cooler!

Cheeky - who is gonna sing a little 80's ditty for ya....Men Without Hats....

S-s-s-s A-a-a-a F-f-f-f E-e-e-e T-t-t-t Y-y-y-y
Safety, dance!

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance
Dance!

We can go when we want to
The night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise 'em with the victory cry
Say, we can act if want to
If we don't nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile

I say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything out of control
We can dance, we can dance
We're doing it from wall to wall
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody takin' the cha-a-a-ance

Safety dance
Is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance

S-s-s-s A-a-a-a F-f-f-f E-e-e-e T-t-t-t Y-y-y-y
Safe, dance!

We can dance if we want to
We've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it
Everything'll work out right
I say, we can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

I say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything out of control
We can dance, we can dance
We're doing it from wall to wall
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody takin' the cha-a-a-ance

Is it safe to dance, oh is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance, oh is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance, oh is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance, oh is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance, oh is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance

Weekend Updates

Merry Christmas Eve ya'll. I have a little break this morning and thought that I would give ya a little update from the weekend's activities.

Friday - we lost a very important member of the household. Kenmore, our fridge. Yep, he died Friday morning. One good thing about living in the frozen tundra is that when your fridge dies, you can pack everything in coolers, put snow all around it and it will be fine. So Friday night, instead of going to see National Treasure with Katie, I went and bought a new fridge. We like him. He is all purty and stuff. We will call him Maytag.

Saturday morning was clean the house before the holiday so we don't have to worry about anything day. And also, wait for Maytag to arrive. The house got a good scrubbing from top to bottom. We ran a few errands and then Taz and Shug came over. I was quite pleased to see that all the animals got along pretty well.

Sunday, it snowed snowed snowed. Mr. Cheeky and teenage daughter went shopping while I just sort of hung out here. It was also movie day here at Chez Cheeky so we watched Deck the Halls and then the first of Pirates of the Caribbean. The other two will be watched today. I love movie marathons.

After shoveling the drive, we came in and all of a sudden I just felt sick. Very nauseated. I went to bed and tossed and turned. I was achey with fever, my head pounded and I was nauseated. You guessed - sinuses. I didn't get any sleep until this morning when I finally took something and it kicked it. The fever has finally broke and I feel TONS better. Thanks goodness cause who wants to be sick on Christmas.

So today its a hang out and be silly kind of day. I wish all ya'll a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas Tell All

Before I begin remember to comment comment comment if you want to win the goodies (see post from Tuesday).

I stole this from the FABULOUS Pup. Go check hers out and tell her I sent ya.

My name...Cheeky (not what's on the birth certificate but was inspired by my very first internet buddy from - 1994/95 - GEESH that was a long time ago).
My website.....this one
I hail from .... currently in Minneapolis but not born here.

1. All I want for Christmas is.... two things - first for our family to be as goofy as we were in NC in early November and second, a new chair for my crafting room.

2 My favorite holiday cocktail.... its not really a "cocktail" but its a wonderful lemon/lime punch. No alcohol just lots of sugar and very addicting (one glass is never enough)

3. My favorite holiday party hors d'oeuvre.... cheeseball (that I make and its not just for the holidays)

4. The average price I spend per gift.... Kids? way too much. Friends and Family - depends on who and what but anywhere from $10 to $75.

5. My favorite gift to give during the holidays .... Something homemade - usually my cards or when time permits a scrapbook.

6. Something overrated about the holidays .... Gimme Gimme Gimme

7. Something I must have before Christmas .... time. I have a few handmade things that are in various stages of completion. I need to get the finished up in plenty of time to ship them.

8. One thing I always do during the holidays ... Get the bulk of my shopping done as early as possible. I don't like stressing out over it.

9. Where I love to shop for the holidays ..... everywhere. I like Black Friday just cause people are so nuts its funny. Go with a good attitude and laugh at others stressing out then you will realize you will be just fine LOL.

10. A holiday tradition I have .... My favorite holiday tradition started with my very first Christmas. Mr. Cheeky was out to sea. It was just me and Weezer and a sad little tree. I had one Christmas CD (Jim Reeves and Elvis and I still have it). At the end of the day after work and school I would turn on the music, turn on the tree, and turn off the rest of the lights and just enjoy it. When Teenage Daughter was born I included her in the ritual until she became a toddler and didn't want to sit still with me. Weezer was always there on my lap. After losing him in Oct of 06 I haven't done this since. I tried but its just not the same without Weezer.

11. One thing you won't find me doing during the holidays... Being a Scrooge. I tend to be generous throughout the year anyway but during this time it goes into overdrive.

12. What do you want for Christmas...Didn't I answer this is question one?

I am not tagging ya - you wanna do it - have at it. Just tell me you did and I will come check it out :)

Holiday/Weekend Update

Thursday:
We had a really nice holiday. The food and company was great. I called the neighbor to borrow her paper to get the sales ads and plan my attack.

Friday:
Up at 3:00am out the door by 3:15. I was the FIRST person in line at Target. They opened at 6:00. I was only there by myself for about 10 mins or so and then I was joined by another lady. Another 5 mins and another one showed up. It was the three of us for about 1/2 hour or so. They were really nice and chatting with them really made the time standing in 18 degree weather go by fairly quickly. People started trickling in. The first 10 of us in line were all there for something different and we made a pact that we would help each other out to get what we wanted. We also decided that we would meet there again same time next year (if the deals are right). Despite the cold we were all laughing and having a good time just being there. Its nice to see those with such a good attitude when you always hear the stories about those that are always fighting on days like this.

I was in the store, did my shopping, and was back home in bed by 6:45. I got everything I wanted. This trip together with the few online things I ordered pretty much sums up my shopping. I have a few small items and Mr. Cheeky's gift and I am done ya'll!

After a few hours sleep, I was up again and then took the man child to hockey practice. Came home and started wrapping the gifts. Later that night, we got the first tree up and decorated.

Saturday:
Few things around the house to get Mr. Cheeky ready for travel. Back to hockey practice. I wrapped the rest of the gifts while man child was out of the house. We planned on getting the second tree (this one real) but ran out of time. We will get it next weekend when Mr. Cheeky gets back. Took Mr. Cheeky to the airport and then I took the kids out to dinner. That was about it, not very exciting but I like it that way.

Sunday:
Spent some time on the treadmill. Ran to the craft store to get a few things and the man child had a hockey game. That was about it.

This week will be busy. Teenage daughter starts drivers ed so I will be waiting in the car and as soon as she gets off the bus we are on our way. She has this for the next 2 1/2 weeks then its permit time - oh joy. Also, man child has karate practice and hockey pictures this week too so it will be a lot of running around for me.

Tricks or Treats?

What did you get?? I will tell you what I got.....I got treats! Oh yes, I did! In my mailbox. Completely unexpected - the best kind! My fellow flamingo fanatic EA - yep she hooked me up. A few months back she posted a pic of some new acrylic stamps she purchased and I drooled all over my keyboard looking at them. You know what she did? She went out the next day and bought some for me and has been hanging on to them waiting to treat me on Halloween! Yes, she did! AND....she included a very cute handmade card (and ummm EA girl I am stealing the little candy corn idea inside - very cute) AND a flip flop summer stamp (that I am sure I will be using for those "random" cards after the holidays). I love getting little treats in the mail!!!

While I am at it - I have to say THANKS again to Katie for continuing to be my enabler and sending me coupons to the craft store....hehe.

See, I keep telling ya'll, its those little unexpected random things that will make you smile the biggest!

Now, I don't have pics cause Mr. Cheeky is still in Dallas with MY camera...Grrrrr!

Teenage daughter and "L" took manchild out to get the goods while I stayed home and gave out the goods. I think I did about 1500 squats because every time I sat down the doorbell would ring again. I had fun though. The kids had some manners this time which was good and better than last year. I ran out of candy about an hour and half after it all started and had to shut the door and turn out the lights. I still had a few older kids banging on the door after that. "Hey this is teenage daughter's house" BANG BANG BANG..."this is where teenage daughter lives" BANG BANG BANG then they discovered the doorbell. I was just about to rip them a new one when they decided to leave. Seriously, the lights are out, the door is shut - MOVE ON!

MY kids came back earlier than they wanted because and I quote "the bag is too heavy to carry anymore Mom"! Yes, they racked up! So, no sooner than they got in they ran downstairs for the ritual. We do this every year. It started when they were younger (so I could give a quick inspection to the goods) but now they just have fun with it. The ritual is they dump all the bags together into a huge pile (man I wish I had my camera for this), then start sorting and separating into piles. All lollipops go in one pile and all hard candy in another then everything else is separated by kind. They racked up on Reese cups and Bottle caps and Skittles (all my favs LOL). After they look at the loot they divide it amongst themselves - each taking their favs. Then what is left over goes into one container in the house. Well let me tell ya. They each have their own stash and there is still a HUGE bowl of candy in the middle of the table. HUGE! As in as much as or more than the amount I gave out!

Overall a good time was had by all! AND we didn't get any TRICKS!

Time to get organized....

First things first ....RIP

Now on to the originally scheduled post....

OK with school starting back that only means one thing - the holidays will soon be upon us (frightening isn't it?). So as I start getting my stuff together for Scrapfest this weekend I realize that its also time to start getting organized and get things in order for the holidays as well. Ya'll know that I LURVE to send out my special homemade cards and I have been collecting addresses over the years (years? I have been blogging for years? well ok maybe a year and a half...no wait it is 2!). If I don't have your address and you would like to have one of my special homemade cards just send me an email: cheekygrin30@yahoo.com, with your mailing address (if you think I have it but aren't sure - send me an email anyway, and if you have moved, send me an updated addy please). Don't worry, I won't stalk you (I will send you my addy if it makes you feel better) but I will add you to the send a random card every now and then to make you smile list. Seriously, just ask around. If I read you are going through a rough time, I will send you a card to perk you up. If I read that someone near and dear has passed away, I will send you a card. If it is your birthday (and I know about it of course) I will send you a card. If it is just a random day and I haven't sent one in a while, I will send you a card. Its just what I do mmmmkay? So send me those addresses!!

And for today's listening pleasure I give you a little ELO.....

You got me running going out of my mind
You got me thinking me that I'm wasting my time

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

You want to stay out with your fancy friends
I'm telling you it's gotta be the end

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down

What happened to the girl I used to know
You let your mind out somewhere down the road

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

You're always talkin' 'bout your crazy nights
One of these days you're gonna get it right

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down, Bruce
Don't bring me down

You're looking good just like a snake in the grass
One of these days you're gonna break your glass

Don't bring me down
No no, no no, no no, no no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

You got me shaking, got me running away
You got me crawling up to you every day

Don't bring me down
No, no, no, no, no, ooh ooh
I'll tell you once more
Before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Down, down, down, down, down
I'll tell you once more before I get off the floor
Don't bring me down

Weekend Update and I gotta go*.....

So what did I do this long holiday weekend? Whatever I wanted! Actually Saturday morning we did some work around the house (Katie thinks I am possessed or something). I pulled out the flowers from the flower bed (they were looking pretty shot and they are done for the year). Pressure washed the concrete slab outside the back sliding glass door. Mr. Cheeky mowed and then we washed the car and truck. After a clean up we headed to Maple Grove to go shopping. After getting the teenage daughter some jeans for school (without much of an argument) it was dinner and then headed to Costco to walk it off. Came home and pretty much just vegged.

Sunday - slept in and then played Warcraft with the man child pretty much all morning. Took a break from that and did a few things around the house then headed to a friend's house for a cookout and games. We had a really nice time. Again, when we got home - just vegged.

Monday - slept in again and then played Warcraft with the man child again until noonish. Mr. Cheeky played outside in his garage while I caught up on some missed episodes of Damages (on FX) from the marathon. Now I am all caught up and waiting for tonight's episode.

So yeah, it was a pretty laid back and calm weekend. Not a lot going on.

***I am up early today because.....because....because (I am soooo giddy)....because TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Oh yeah baby!! So in honor of the first day of school let me sing this little ditty for the kiddos....(bonus points if you can guess the movie its from)....

Spending my vacation in the summer sun,
Gettin' lots of action and a lots of fun.
Scorin' like a bandit 'til the bubble burst -
Suddenly it got to be September First.

Woe is me, all summer long I was happy and free.
Save my soul, the board of education took away my parole.
I gotta go back, back, back to school again.
You won't find me 'til the clock strikes three;
I'm gonna be there 'til then...
I gotta go back, back, back to school again.
Whoa, whoa, I gotta go... back to school again!

Geometry and history is just a pain,
Biology and chemistry destroys my brain.
Well don't they know that I deserve a better fate?
I'm really much too young to matriculate.

Well mama please, your child's come down with a fatal disease.
Mama said, "Come on you lazy bum now get your butt out of bed!"
"You gotta go back, back, back to school again!"
It's bye-bye fun, get your homework done,
You better be in by ten,
I gotta go back, back, back to school again.
Whoa, whoa, I gotta go... back to school again!

I got my books together and I dragged my feet,
Then I saw this angel boppin' down the street.
I said, "Hey, pretty baby, howsabout a date?"
She said, "I'm going to school, and I can't be late."

Well, I can see, that look in her eyes was sayin' "Follow me,"
And I was caught - I thought of playing hooky, but on second thought,
I gotta go back, back, back to school again.
You won't find me 'til the clock strikes three;
I'm gonna be there 'til then...
I gotta go back, back, back to school again.
Whoa, whoa, I gotta go... back to school ... again!!!

I love Holidays....

I just don't like it when they are in the middle of the week. Sorta takes the fun out of it when you still have to go to bed early cause its a "school night" ya know?

I did get to sleep in a little yesterday which was nice. It was a really good day outside but I spent most of it inside (I know, go figure). I did get quite a bit of playing time with my toys (card stuff, scrapbook stuff, etc.) and many cards were made. I must say I am getting goooooood LOL! Oh which brings me to this, I have some of your b-days but others I do not. I lurve to send (and make) cards and such so if you want one for your b-day (and the other holidays) - send me an email with the date and the addy.

The back deck got a little tlc yesterday and was pressure washed and cleaned. It will be getting a nice coat of stain this weekend. After dinner, we played a little ladder golf and just goofed around. Nothing really exciting.

OH and ummm I am gonna get a visitor for my b-day next week (oh and if you are counting we are at T minus 9 days and counting - including today of course). My favorite scrappin buddy Mommy K is coming from Charleston to see me! Woot! She will be joining me at the cult that is the scrapbook convention in St. Paul! She will be coming in next Friday and staying through the following Tuesday. I am really excited!

That's it - that's all I got - I really need to start doing things that are a little more blog worthy....haha

Cheeky who is singing ......ohhh I dunno - some Pointer Sisters maybe...

Tonight's the night we're gonna make it happen
Tonight we'll put all other things aside
Give in this time and show me some affection
We're going for those pleasures in the night

I want to love you, feel you
Wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you
I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow I'll let it go

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you

We shouldn’t even think about tomorrow
Sweet memories will last a long, long time
We’ll have a good time baby, don’t you worry
And if we’re still playing ‘round, boy that’s just fine

Let’s get excited, we just can’t hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you

I want to love you, feel you
Wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you
I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow I'll let it go

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you

Do what you do to me
You've got me burning up
Whoohoohoohoo, ahw!
I think you get to me
I’ve got to give it up
Whoohoohoohoo, ahw

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know I want you, want you
