We are Back!!
Oh we had a great time. Really. Nobody got cranky, nobody yelled**, we lauged a lot, and basically enjoyed each other's company. Even the kids. Shocking I know. There are lots of things to tell from this trip so I am going to spread it out over the next couple of posts. I mean, really, who wants to read a novella of a post right? Let me start with a few PSA's for today: To the toilet in the MN airport bathroom, I know this is a big pick up spot. I did not tap the floor with my foot, I did not reach my hand under the stall. BUT dear toilet, why oh why did you have to auto flush like 5 times while I was sitting there. Seriously. I wasn't dropping a stink pickle or anything so I know you weren't doing a courtesy flush for me. Every time I dried off from one flush you would do it again, spraying my backside yet again. I didn't enjoy this little dance and I am sure others don't as well. To the TSA Agent guarding the exit door, Sweetie, I know this job is long and hard and really boring, but do you really think you are making me feel safe when you are snoozing while guarding the exit door? You are supposed to be watching to make sure people don't come through there but go through the security area......this door is for LEAVING the security area. Snoozing at said post is not a wise move honey. I am just sayin. To the drivers in MN, I was in my car for 10 mins, 10 mins and ya'll cut me off no less than 3 times during this time limit. Now I know why I have road rage. Even my kids now know why I have road rage. To the passengers on the plane (from the teenage daughter), Gas happens. We know this but please move to the back of the plane into the restrooms before trying to suffocate the rest of the plane. I mean, its not like they use a lot of fresh air on those things. **I almost lost my cool one morning during the trip. I had had little sleep and man child has developed this habit of arguing back (its the age but still drives me nuts), he was fussing at me because he I didn't pack his belt. It was turning ugly. Mr. Cheeky stepped in to save the morning. We stopped for coffee and manchild went in with Mr. Cheeky and brought me a peace offering....a pack of skittles and a sundrop! I got 2 swigs of the sundrop (he drank the rest) and I only got a few of the skittles but it was the bribe that counts. More to come tomorrow. Here is a little teaser for ya: Jim Jones Juice! If you were a fly on the wall
You may have heard the following little tidbits from the adventures of the Cheeky family (and remember we are less than 24 hours into the trip)
* "I'm gonna chicken slap you"
* "OK who just ruined the new car smell?"
* "You are just like the government, when you run out of money you just ask for more"
* "You ignorant retarded donkey" (this one got lots of laughs)
* "Yeah, you are full of something"
Teenage Daughter: "What's that smell? Cheeky: "I just ate a rolaids" Mr. Cheeky: "I just farted" Teenage Daughter: "Smells good"
Cheeky: "I might get my hair cut off" Teenage Daughter: "Well you know the deal" Cheeky: "I don't negotiate about my hair" Teenage Daughter: "I don't negotiate with terrorists"
Ahhh yes it is a barrel of laughs around here. Except for Mr. Cheeky. His bag has yet to show up. They can't find it. Luckily, I had put in a pair of jeans and a shirt of his in my bag. It got lost in Atlanta. He leaves Monday to drive to Virginia. Hopefully we will have it before then or we have to get him all new business clothes for work.Labels: Man Child, Random, Smart Eleck, Teenage Daughter, Travel

I feel you need an explanation...
Of the Committee (snicker). See two days ago I was left the following comment in regards to my suggestion of leaving town:
"What am I supposed to read while you are away? I do not remember this trip being cleared with the committee*.
*This committee is a made-up organization I invented to sound official. :)"
And so in yesterday's post, I had to comfort said committee that there's no need to fear - Cheeky will be here!
T-minus ummm 11 hours and counting and we will be flying the friendly skies once again. I like this airline so I am hopeful things will go well.
Since I haven't sung in a while, let me leave you with this little ditty.....sing with me now, you know you want to.....
Almost heaven, West Virginia Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river Life is old there, older than the trees Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze
Country roads, take me home To the place, I be-long West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads
All my memories, gather round her Miners lady, stranger to blue water Dark and dusty, painted on the sky Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home To the place, I be-long West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice, in the mornin hours she calls to me The radio reminds me of my home far a-way And drivin down the road I get a feeling That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home To the place, I be-long West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roadsLabels: Travel

So Much to do.....
So I have today and tomorrow before we all head out to NC for an extended weekend. Really extended. Like Wednesday night through next Tuesday extended. We have to get everyone packed and ready to go. Not only with clothes but for things to keep us occupied on the plane. Games, food, music, books, etc.
We will be going to visit both sides of the family in NC. Thursday and Friday we have various people to see but will also be hitting all those favorite local food joints that we love so much. Saturday its Mr. Cheeky's side and on Sunday we are doing an early Thanksgiving with my side. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Sister, Parents. The whole crowd.
Monday, Mr. Cheeky will be driving up to Virginia for work and Teenage Daughter and I (along with MIL, Mom, and my Aunt and whoever else decides to go) will be hitting the Christmas show - oh yes, we will. I am gonna shop till I drop. I will take the camera and let ya'll see the glory that is the Christmas show.
Tuesday, me and the kids will be headed back to MN while Mr. Cheeky stays in VA until the end of the week.
For those of you who are members of the committee** - don't worry - there will be time for posting little updates along the way. I can't say that I will get around to visiting everyone while I am gone but I promise I will catch up when I get back.Labels: Travel

Update from the Charlotte Aiport forward
Katie thinks row 14 is actually row 12.
The flight attendant for this leg of the trip was a freakin riot. "If you hit the call button we will come, if it was a mistake just hit it again, if you hit it a third time you will automatically be ejected to the wing of the plane." Seriously, she said this and many other things....I heart her.
If you have never rented a car before, please step to the end of the line and let the professionals through. It will take us 5 minutes....seriously 5 MINUTES, it took you half an hour because you whine and moan about what car you want, safety deposits and mandatory car seats for your hellion of a child.
Patti's man Stacy will try to rent you a male escort when you call Patti's phone to get directions for the house. I told him to give me 3 cause one might get tired.
Stacy is a riot.
Madison is too cute for words.
People in the south LURVE Vera Bradley handbags so when you are looking for one for your teenage daughter for her birthday next week - yeah it can be a little hard to find.
If you ever want a low country boil (or frogmore stew as we call it) just call Stacy - he will hook you right up.
When going to the Riverbanks zoo, don't try to go around the corner to look for the ticket booth - you will get hunted down like the freeloader that you are. Then after purchasing said tickets, the ticket nazi will then follow you into the bathroom.
It has been decided that the zoo management has decided that paying someone to say "welcome to the zoo" in a soothing voice over the speaker system all day is much more important than having maps that are accurate OR placing signs to tell you where you are going.
Wendy and Jayke are too fun. Jayke is totally cracking me up.
When kids tap on the glass with a quarter, the gorilla will elbow the glass and make them crap their pants.
Not only are we directionally challenged at the zoo but the directions for the hotel in Myrtle Beach were just a wee bit off. But we made it and then totally passed out after getting there....no we were not drunk (geesh you think we are a bunch of lushes or something) we were tired, toasted from the heat and just plain exhausted.
But before passing out we did notice that there was a sad little man all alone in the heart shaped hot tub at the short hotel next to us. He sat there all alone for the longest time. He never did find love. Could be cause you were by yourself in the hot tub....just sayin'.....
So that is it....that is what we have so far. Today we slept in pretty late (its 10:30a already) and so we are making our game plan for the day. Updates will either be here or over at Katie' place so check back often.Labels: Travel

In the words of Beck....
Sooooooooo open the door.....I'm a loser baby......hahaha
Kidding kidding. I am in a GREAT mood. Just been sorta busy this morning and so I am a little behind on getting my post out. Why? you ask? Cause me, Katie, Patti, and Wendy (on Monday) are gonna be hanging out getting our blogger love fest on! Wait! That sounds sorta perverted huh? LOL Well I love my blogger buds so I guess if you want to have your mind in the gutter....go for it!
I was gonna do the meme that Jenie tagged me with but I just don't have the time right now. I will do it though - promise! I have so much to do before leaving at the butt crack of dawn to pick up Katie and hop a plane .....cause we are hitting the beach baby (oh wait - I already told you that didn't I?). Katie is bringin the laptop so I am sure between the three of us you will be getting some updates....assuming we can find wireless somewhere.
So, now I have to go pack, charge the iPod, get the nails done (NEED to get the toes done but I still can't get a pedi - the heel has not healed YET!), get groceries so my kids don't starve next week....and lots more.
In honor of my trip - the teenage daughter has decided that SHE would like to sing a little ditty for you.....so this is coming from HER not me.....A little Family Force 5....Kountry Gentlemen (so appropriate too - it mentions the Pig....I heart the Pig)...
I come from the land where the mullet attacks Business up front Party in the back You gotta style in the south when ur stepping out Put a gold tooth in ur mouth Look at you now Tank top, ur ball-cap, you think ur all that But ur looking like Scott Stapp Ur just another redneck from back in the woods Not a Kountry Gentleman that can bring the goods, Tayoooo
[Chorus] My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman So you best watch ur mouth My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman That's what it's all about
IROC-Z, got an eagle on it Rolling on some 12's Don't you know I'm gonna flaunt it Am I driving too fast for you now? BACKFIYYUUURRRE!! The muffler goes KA-PLOW!!
Now that I got ur attention Just let me mention that I'm pinchin' pennies To buy some 20's Cause I got plenties and many's of monie's just to give to my friends And that would certify me as a Kountry Gentleman....BURRRRRDDDD!!
Mama, what you got cookin' up in that kitchen? Cookin' fried chicken? Cause you know I love that soul food Everythang you cook is so good For a southern man like me U gotta cook it up clean, cook it up mean Mama don't like it when you got leftovers
Gimme me some of them collard greens Got me some grub and I gotta go Down to the Grocery store Tailgate party at the PIG WIG Jumpin' up and down in the back of a truck bed Look at that kid tryin' to act all big Tried to break-dance and broke his leg He ain't got what I got Let's make it hot in this parking lot
[Chorus] My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman So you best watch ur mouth My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman That's what it's all about
[Breakdown]
The durty durty south The durty durty south The durty durty south
WATCH WHAT YOU SAY AROUND MY MAMA! SHE RAISED ME IN THE DURTY SOUTH!! I SAID WATCH WHAT YOU SAY AROUND MY MAMA!! SHE RAISED ME IN THE DURTY SOUTH!! [x2]
My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman So you best watch ur mouth My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman That's what it's all about
My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman So you best watch ur mouth My mama raised me in the durty south A Kountry Gentleman That's what it's all aboutLabels: Teenage Daughter, Travel

Lookout SC......
Cause this girl and I are headed your way in less than 2 weeks!!!!!!!! That's right, Katie and I are hitting the road. We fly into Charleston for a couple of days and will most likely visit with Patti and if we are lucky this girl too! So first its Charleston and then we are going to head up to Myrtle Beach for a few days in the middle of the week. Shouldn't be too bad since the kids will be back in school down there (I think). Then toward the end of the week - back to Charleston again. Do you think they handle the two of us??
We got our tickets last night. We still have to get the rental car and figure out places to stay. I can usually get good deals when I plan ahead but things are just a little on the pricey side since its such short notice. Katie has been searching for a reasonably priced room so we should have some sort itinerary in the next day or so!
We were thinking of heading to Houston to visit with Shell and the girls and then head to Dallas for a few days but we couldn't decide, so in the end, Katie flipped the coin and Charleston won out!
Now I have already started taking my vitamins because getting sick during this trip IS NOT I repeat IS NOT an option.Labels: Travel

Once again in the words of Florida Evans.....and tells of the blue moon**
Damn Damn Damn! I just want to know WHY! I traveled again last week and through the weekend and wanna guess what happened? Awwww come on you wanna guess, just take a shot.....YEP you guessed it - Sick! Sick! Sick! and we are not just talking a little sick, we are talking so sick that I had to find a clinic to go to on Sunday cause I was dying. I am not saying what they "think" I have just yet cause I am thinking good thoughts and I am in denial. But lets just say, if your throat is swollen really really bad, and your glands are so swollen that you look like a bullfrog, and your neck hurts to move, and you run a fever for days and the doc looks at you and says "oh honey you have strep but lets take this little swab just to be sure" then sends you home with a lidocaine wash that is thicker than pancake syrup and tells you to "gargle" it (yeah, try that once) but with nothing else.....cause it AIN'T STREP.....we have a problem. Wanna know what mimics strep and makes you completely exhausted but doesn't show up in a quick test for 7 days??? I bet you can guess and it ain't a happy thought!
I am home now back in MN(got in this afternoon), came straight home, got nekked (meaning I got my nightie shirt on), went into quarantine (ok - that means bed) and slept! I am exhausted. I am doing a little better. The glands have gone down considerably since Sunday. My throat is still sore and swollen but once again not nearly as bad. My neck is still really tender. The fever is not constant - only have one or two a day and is manageable with that Tylenol so I am not as achy. So am I getting better - yes. Am I still contagious - yes so no smoochin for me. BUT what does this mean....it means I am still exhausted, it means that my trip to Indy this weekend to watch the races with my German friends and hang out with Jenie is most likely a bust (don't want a 10hr car ride being sick and then go and spread my love - errr germs - around to my friends - that wouldn't be cool and we all know what a cool chick I am...LOL).
So what have I learned on this trip?
I have learned that I need to be in a face mask when I travel cause I am sick and tired of getting sick when I go somewhere (this is freakin ridiculous ya'll).
I have learned that when have a high temp, that putting on lots of clothes and wrapping in 5 blankets and curling up in the fetal position is about the only way you can even think about getting warm.
I have learned that hard liquor (specifically tequila) will numb up your throat pretty good so you can eat - definately works better than thicker than cold syrup lidocaine.
I have learned that if you wear glasses and jump in the pool - you might just break them and then have to spend ohhh about 2 hours looking for the lens at the bottom(heheh Pop that was for you).
**I have learned that there is more than one meaning for a "blue moon" - what is the second one you ask....that would be my Mom's left butt cheek. Totally blue (ok 3/4 blue but still) from her fight with the wrong end of a chair. Do I have a picture, nah, I told her I was gonna take one and put it on here when I felt good but didn't have my camera, my next opportunity was when I was sick and I just didn't want to move to do it.
I have learned that even though I got stood up (a lot! we are talking every stinkin' day) and my original plans for this weekend completely fell through that it sort of can be a blessing in disguise cause I ended being sick during this time and would have forced myself to go and would have paid dearly for it.
I learned other stuff too but I am tired now, I am gonna go lay back down.
Cheeky in honor of her Momma is singing....(yeah I might be sick as a dog but I still have my sense of humor)
Blue moon, you saw me standin' alone Without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for You heard me sayin' a prayer for Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared before me The only one my arms will hold I heard somebody whisper "please adore me" And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold
Blue moon, now I'm no longer alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own
And then there suddenly appeared before me The only one my arms will ever hold I heard somebody whisper "please adore me" And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold
Blue moon, now I'm no longer alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own
