Like... its Thursday Thirteen Again...

In honor of the 20 year anniversary and the re-release of one of the 80's greatest films (it was re-released on the 29th - what? you don't have yours already? I bet secretly some of you do).

Thirteeen Things about Pretty In Pink!

#1 Kristy Swanson (you know the chick that was in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Movie) was the one that lusted after Duckie at the prom.

#2 In the last seen where Blane kisses Andie - that ain't his real hair ya'll - he's wearing a wig. (why you ask? see #3)

#3 There was an alternate ending where Andie chooses Duckie over Blane. Test audiences didn't like it so they had to re-shoot the ending. Andrew McCarthy (you know, Blane) had already shaved his head for another movie - so that is why he had to wear the wig.

#4 Andrew Dice Clay plays the bouncer outside Cats (the bar) who befriends Duckie but never lets him in.

#5 The dress that Andie "made" out of bits and pieces of other dresses is MIA. It was sold in a movie prop auction and its whereabouts is unknown (that's cause its hanging in my closet ya'll - hehe....shhh don't tell).

#6 Anthony Michael Hall (you know Farmer Ted from Sixteen Candles) was originally offered the part of Duckie - he turned it down.

#7 Robert Downey Jr was also considered for Duckie before Jon Cryer got the part.

#8 I *heart* the Duckman.

#9 Gina Gershon and Dweezil Zappa also had bit parts in PIP.

#10 If you Leave - you know the song played at the prom - was not the original choice for the ending song. It was supposed to be Goddess of Love, but since the ending changed - so must the song.

#11 Duckies first name is Phil

#12 The record store that Andie worked at was called Trax and Iona was the coolest boss EVER!

#13 Taglines for the movie were: Blane's a pretty cool guy. Andie's pretty in pink. And Ducky's pretty crazy. OR the other one...He's crazy about her. She's crazy about him. He's just crazy.

And so for you my TT friends - there you have it, some little known facts about one of the decades greatest movies. And, you really didn't think I would let you go without singing Psychedelic Furs now did ya?

Caroline laughs and it's raining all day, she loves to be one of the girls...She lives in the place in the side of our loves, where nothing is ever put straight, she turns herself round and she smiles and she says, 'This is it'..'That's the end of the joke', And loses herself in her dreaming and sleep and her lovers walk through in their coats.....Pretty in pink...Isn't she...Pretty in pink...Isn't she....

So, did ya play....tell me all about it!

The storm is coming...and I am gonna miss it...Damnit!

OK ya'll know how much I love a good storm. Well wouldn't ya know it, as soon as I leave Ernesto decides he wants to visit Charleston too! Damnit! Now I am about to go on a little rant here.....and I just might offend somebody out there....so don't say I didn't warn ya.

First of all.....I am about sick and damn tired of the media going nuts over a little tropical storm - people we have stronger storms than this that pop up outta no where...mmmkay? And since Katrina it has only gotten worse. You have all heard my theory - tropical storm (cool!), Cat 1 (way cool!), Cat 2 (ok, I will have my batteries and canned ravioli - that I can eat straight out of the can by the way, but I will also have my bootay parked by the window watching cause that is some awesome stuff right there!) Cat 3 - ummmm I think I might watch that one from afar (only cause I can get a little chicken every now and then). Cat 4 (ummmm what? you think I am staying - what are you smokin???).

Now with all this crap going on they are already calling for a voluntary evacuation of Charleston...ummmm excuse me? OK maybe the elderly....maybe....and maybe those in trailers cause you can see this one coming (and I am reaching for that one) but come on people - its a little rain, its a little wind....Stupid idiots on the news blow some little thing up to craziness and then when the really big one does come....we ignore your ass cause you are stupid...Ever hear of the story of the little boy that cried wolf? Come on people...it ain't Katrina. And while I am on that subject.....If I hear anymore about that one I just might hurl (sorry, watched Wayne's World the other day). Now don't get me wrong - what happened there was bad....and for those that did get out and came back to nothing, I just can't imagine and my heart really does go out to you...for those that had no other choice but to stay (and I struggle with that one), again my heart goes out to you, but for those that decided to stay, that partied, that just dared the storm to come (after you saw you had a bullseye painted on your head) well you are just stupid and you get to stand in line BEHIND those that did what they are supposed to do when a big Cat 4/5 is headed your way cause I ain't got no sympathy for ya.

OK, I feel better now. And as I was telling the newly 14 year old teenage daughter about this post, I told her I needed to come up with a song to sing....then she said well, I want to make a request....and she did, and I am gonna sing it...so here goes...get your break dancin shoes on and get ready for a little Run DMC!

It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...it's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...Tr-tr-tr-tricky (Tricky) Trrrrrrrrrrricky

I met this little girlie, her hair was kinda curly
Went to her house and bust her out, I had to leave real early
These girls are really sleazy, all they just say is please me
Or spend some time and rock a rhyme, I said "It's not that easy"

It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...(How is it D?) It's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Trrrrrricky)
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...Tricky (Tricky) Tricky

In New York the people talk and try to make us rhyme
They really (hawk) but we just (walk) because we have no time
And in the city it's a pity cause we just can't hide
Tinted windows don't mean nothin', they know who's inside

It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...(How is it D?) Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky) huh!

She be 14 ya'll....

I was going to make this post all about me me me and my trip and how I didn't gain weight on my trip but actually lost a pound. I was going to talk about how its turned chilly up here in Minnefreakinsota while I was gone. I was gonna talk about how Willie was all excited to see me and just kept licking me all night and how Kitty was trying to be all coy and act like it was no big deal that I was home but since I have been up this morning she has sat her bootay right beside me on my desk. But no, I have more important things to say like........

Happy Birtday to the Teenage Daughter!!!!!!!

Cheeky's Back!

Back again.....Cheeky's back....tell a friend!

It's sooooo nice to be missed when you are gone. I am still among the living down here in rainy Charleston, SC. And what have I been doing that has kept me away from blogging you might ask - 3 words my friend.....WORK WORK WORK!!! OMG - I had forgotten what it was like to drive in traffic into an office everyday. I had forgotten what it was like to have to actually put on decent clothes and do my hair and wear make up every day. I had forgotten what it was like to sit through traffic trying to get home. I have been so whipped after putting in extra long days that basically I just shower and go to bed at the end of the day. Working from home has definately spoiled this girl.

BUT....today is FRIDAY ya'll and this girl is getting out of here early. She is going to skip out this morning and go see Gene and here hair did (and Mist - he is among "the gays"). Gene does goooooood hair! Then after that, Cheeky is heading over to the bank, paying off her car and becoming debt free! You heard me - DEBT FREE!!! Ok except for the house, but that doesn't count because as much as I move I will always have that expense. Then back to the office for a few follow up meetings and this girl is outta here! She is gonna go hang out with her friends that she has been neglecting and hasn't seen since she has been here. She is gonna go smooch on baby Duncan. AND....she is gonna go get herself some lobster tonight - yep Cheeky is gonna be living it up (if she can stay awake that is).

This weekend is going to be free time so I am hoping that the rain goes away so I can get to the beach and get some sun on the skin that is glowing because its too damn pale! I am also hoping to get in some shopping time.

So my dear blogging friends....I am alive, tired but alive...but not too tired to sing you a little ditty....Perhaps a little Right Said Fred....I'm too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt,So sexy it hurts..And I'm too sexy for Milan, too sexy for Milan, New York and Japan...And I'm too sexy for your party, Too sexy for your party, No way I'm disco dancing...I'm a model you know what I mean, And I do my little turn on the catwalk, Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk, yeah I do my little turn on the catwalk....

Updated: I am visiting your blogs today but Blogger is being a PIA and won't let me comment - but I promise I will....as soon as it lets me....(making another sacrifice to the blogger gods/goddesses)

Taking the MIL to the MOA

to go S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G!

I am taking the day off of work to go do some shopping with the MIL. The teenage daughter seems to think this is a time to go back to school shopping too. Its going to be an all day event (hey it's cloudy and rainy outside so I can't think of a better thing to do....can you?)

If the weather permits, Saturday we are headed to Taylors Falls (in the land of snow and cheese).

Sunday - I am flying out with MIL. She will get off the plane in Charlotte and I will continue on to Myrtle Beach and then drive on down to C-town! So, most likely my next post will be from there!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Tiffany update - as of now she is still in the hospital but should come home today. She was having a few issues. I called and talked to her and she was fairly doped up (poor thing - I mean when you can't remember your favorite Aunt Cheeky you KNOW something is up...hehe). On the college front, they will let her come a little late which is good so hopefully that will all work out.

Cheeky - who is feeling particularly perky today (maybe its not working, maybe its going shopping, maybe its going to Charleston, maybe its because she only has 2 more days of prednisone and she slept like a log last night....awww who cares...she's perky!).....and thinks a little Phil Collins is in order for today.....There's this girl that's been on my mind....All the time, Sussudio oh oh....Now she don't even know my name, but I think she likes me just the same....Sussudio oh oh...Oh if she called me I'd be there, I'd come running anywhere, she's all I need, all my life I feel so good if I just say the word....Sussudio, just say the word..Oh Sussudio

Tiff Update

Thank you for all of your well wishes. Tiffany came through the surgery ok. She had 3 gall stones and some infection so they just decided to completely remove her gall bladder. She could have come home last night however she was in quite a bit of discomfort so they decided to keep her. That ended up being a good thing. She had a few issues this morning and so she is still in the hospital.

Need your positive energy....

I just got off of the phone with my Mom. My niece - Tiffany will be having gall bladder surgery within the hour. She is only 17. She was supposed to leave this Friday to go to college.

Tiffany has been through a lot in her 17 years. She was diagnosed with leukemia when she was just starting school (kindergarten or first grade - I can't remember now) and being the fighter that she is - managed to beat it and has been in remission for so long she is considered to be cured.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

You ask - I answer

Gracie asked me yesterday for an update on the "healthy eating" and how that's going. Well let me tell ya. Prednisone is a PIA!!!! I am constantly wanting to eat something. Not that I do mind you - just that I want to. When I do, I try to make it somewhat healthy but its those late night snacks that have gotten to me and I have developed a sweet tooth but I am trying. Actually, I have refused to get on the scale in the last week. I can tell that I have gained a few pounds - nothing major but I can still feel a difference. Plus it was mentioned that my face was getting ummmm "rounder". I won't say who said it....but can't say I was happy about it. I am on my final days of the prednisone and I can already tell things are getting better in the appetite department - but the scary thing is....I have been having this little itch under my chin.....I better just be paranoid.

I am back on my exercise routine which is good too. Its 6:30a and I have already been up and hour and a half and rode 5 miles this morning. I will try to get in a couple miles at lunch and then do the power walk/run this evening.

Julie wanted to know what I cooked for the MIL last night - well so much for "healthy" eating LOL. I made a good ol' heavy southern meal. Cubesteak with gravy, garlic smashed taters, slaw, and biscuits (you need something to sop up that gravy). Also had some cukes and onions in vinegar (kinda like refrigerator pickles I guess) and ice cold lemonade (sorry that wasn't homemade). It was GOOD!

Irish Church Lady: Yep - I am always doing something - no rest for this Cheeky...LOL AND....just when I think I might get a little rest - this girl is headed back down to Charleston next week - woohoo! I am flying out on Sunday and not coming back until the following Monday. (Yep - so much for the healthy eating LOL).

Sis (and this really is the Cheeksters sister ya'll..hehe): Empty nest blues?? I will ship you a kid or two. Tell Tiff to get me her addy ASAP so I can start sending her stuff. Nothing like care packages from Aunt Cheeky!

Lee: Nope, that racing gene just can never go away. Its inbread!

Other random updates: The little man child starts karate tonight. He is really excited about it. I had to wear a sweatshirt this morning when I rode my bike...a S.W.E.A.T.S.H.I.R.T. - its August and I am in a sweatshirt....this cannot be good (as a matter of fact - I am still wearing it and I am not a cold natured person). The teenage daughter is playing tennis. She finally bought her OWN tennis shoes so she can stop wearing MINE....now if I can just get her to buy her own sunglasses....I completed an entire scrapbook from start to finish on Sunday afternoon - it was for a gift so I was motivated.

I think that is about it from Chez Cheeky for now. Anything I forgot? Just ask - I will tell ya.

Now its time for a little Dexy's Midnight Runners (sing with me....)Poor old Johnny Ray sounded sad upon the radio, He broke a million hearts in mono, Our mothers cried, Sang along, Who'd blame them?

You're grown (you're grown up),So grown (so grown up),Now I must say more than ever
Come on Eileen too-ra loo-ra too-ra loo rye aye, And we can sing just like our fathers....

Come on Eileen, oh, I swear (well he means), At this moment, you mean everything, You in that dress, my thoughts, I confess, Verge on dirty...Oh come on Eileen....

Invasion.....

Yes my friends, Chez Cheeky is being invaded once again....this time...the MIL! AACCCKK!!! Actually, I am just kidding, not about the MIL coming but the aacckk part. I have to say that I am pretty lucky in the MIL department. Very low maintenance, keeps her opinions to herself (sometimes to a fault), friendly. She is flying in today and will be getting here just in time for dinner so of course I am gonna be cookin up some good stuff!

Yesterday, I had lunch with a former boss of mine from Jacksonville. I love this lady. Shirley is by far the coolest boss I have ever had. We try to stay in touch from time to time and I had emailed her recently to tell her about an illness of one of our coworkers. When Shirley found out that I was in Minnefreakinsota she told me she was coming up this weekend and ...well of course we had to get together. I had a wonderful time catching up with her. Plus it never hurts to keep the networking going (if you know what I mean).

Had a good time at the redneck drag races on Friday. It was really packed during the first half but as they day progressed and the beer set in - the crowd thinned out a bit. I can only imagine what Saturday and Sunday looked like.

Here is a little video for ya (be sure and turn up your volume really really loud) - oh and at the end if you look to your right - the chick with the pony tail and fingers in her ears....yeah, that would be me.

Video Hosting - Upload Video - Video Sharing

Cheeky who needs a little motivation to get her bootay in gear needs to sing something with a beat....Hmmmm....perhaps all she needs is a little Faith. Well I guess it would be nice, If I could touch your body, I know not everybody, Has got a body like you, But I've got to think twice, Before I give my heart away, And I know all the games you play, Because I play them too...Oh but I need some time off from that emotion, time to pick my heart up off the floor, and when that love comes down Without devotion, Well it takes a strong man baby, But I'm showing you the door...'Cause I gotta have faith...

Cheeky who is singing: He's going the distance, He's going for speed, she's all alone, all alone in a time of need....Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course. He's fight and biting and riding on his horse. He's going the distance......aaaahhhhh aaaaaaahhhhh

Hey! Its Thursday Again....

Which means #1 I am working waaaayyy too much.....and #2 its time for Thursday Thirteen. Now I was going to go in a completely different direction with this weeks thirteen but seeing as how the local paper (That would be the Star Tribune for those of you that live in or near Minnefreakinsota) has decided to piss off the Cheeky (and she is getting revenge and she is gonna sue - and she is gonna win - cause she has his name and # and when she told him to take her off the list cause she was tired of being harrased she wrote down his name and the date and he was a smart ass and said good luck with that - and then they were stupid enough to call back yesterday violating the the do not call act - now all Cheeky has to do is find a snake in the grass lawyer that is hungry - and the money is hers!) - I have decided to go with this:

Thirteen Ways to get Back at Telemarketeers

#1 - If its a bank and they want to loan you money - say - sure I just filed for bankrupcy - thanks for the handout....that'll shut em up.

#2 - As soon as they identify themselves as a telemarketer - just start saying "no" with various speeds and tones....very fast.....high pitched....very looooong....and most definately in the creepiest voice you can.

#3 - Tell them you work for their company and that they are not allowed to sell to employees and you are reporting them to your boss.

#4 - Tell them you under house arrest and then ask them to bring you some beer.

#5 - Tell them "Okay - I will listen to you but I probably should tell you that I am not wearing any clothes....what are YOU wearing?"

#6 - Tell them to talk VERY SLOWLY cause you want to write down EVERY WORD they say. (then ask them to repeat it again to make sure you have it right).

#7 - As soon as you realize its a telemarketer - start screaming in terror - Oh My God!! then scream once more for good measure and hang up.

#8 - When they start with "how are you today" just give it to them - I mean after all they DID ask right? Well you know I have been a little constipated and I didn't think that discharge was anything to worry about but now I am getting concerned. And you know this really big mole I have on my arm?, well its starting to grow teeth.....blah blah blah...

#9 - When they call and ask for someone specific say - all aggrevated - "What?! You can't talk to me? I ain't good enough for ya? You just screwed up cause I am the one with the MONEY and CONTROL - thanks for playing - better luck next time.

#10 - Tell them you will play along with them but first they have to answer a few questions for you...weight, eye color, shoe size, what type of underwear are they wearing.......you get the idea.

#11 - Turn the tables on them - tell them you will buy something from them if they will buy this over priced tin of popcorn and wrapping paper from your child's school fund raiser,

#12 - Start listening and then start whispering "they are coming".....then whisper it again "they are coming" then shreik in horror...."They are here!!! make a static noise and hang up.

#13 - Or my personal favorite - just let them start talking and then put the phone down and walk away.....

Cheeky - who is singing her battle cry once again: We're not gonna take it - oh no we ain't gonna take - we're not gonna take it anymore.......

I'm just an old lump of coal.....and other updates

But I'm gonna be a diamond some day...

First of all let me warn ya, my southern twang is in full force today but more on that later.

Friday I after whining, moaning and begging, I FINALLY got in to see a dermatologist. Long story short, the Minute Clinic was pretty close. I have some type of contact dermatitis that is/was airborn which is why it attacked my face and not the rest of body (thank goodness I gave up walking around my neighborhood in the nude or I could be in some serious trouble). The doc said that it could be poison ivy/oak. With all the walking/running/biking that I have been doing, if someone was mowing and mowed over the poison that it is very possible that it became airborn and that it attacked me (yikes...but I see the making of a very twisted horror flick out of all of this.... something along the genre of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes...hehe). Anyway, the Minute Clinic doc did all the right things except one...an important one...she was too conservative on the prednisone (yeah, like I was happy to hear this) so.....the dermatologist DOUBLED....yes DOUBLED my dose of prednisone.....Good news.....after just one day Cheeky is looking good (hahaha)and is not very itchy at all... bad news.....she definately ain't sleeping. I have to be on the prednisone for another TWO WEEKS slowly tapering off during the process (I had to take TWELVE yes you read that right TWELVE pills today). So goodbye Twoface.....just call me Poison Ivy (yeah, another Batman reference for ya).... Thanks to all of my friends out there and all the well wishes. You just don't know how much that meant to me.

OK so now on to why this Cheeky girl has the twang comin out in full force. Ya'll if you haven't seen Talledega Nights - The Legend of Ricky Bobby - you have to go! Stop reading, get in the car and go NOW! Ya'll know I was born and raised in the heart of Redneckville, NC - where Nascar is LIFE! Well, I was taken back home ya'll. I haven't laughed out loud so hard at a movie in a really long time. There are sooooo many one-liners from this movie and I will be sharing them with you over up coming blogs (gotta give you time to go see this - what? you are still reading? Get yourself out to the movies NOW - ya hear? - SHAKE-N-BAKE....watch the movie- you will understand).

Other than that, today has been ok. I am finding that I am way too hyper for my own good - ya'll its almost midnight and I am still wide awake.....

Since I have all this flippin energy - I am gonna head out to a new bike trail tomorrow - 17 miles long. Yeah, I am nuts from no sleep - but I have to do something cause all I wanna do is eat and we are just not gonna have me gaining back the weight I have worked so hard to lose.

That's my Saturday (ok Sunday morning) update for ya. I am sure there will be more later.....since I can't sleep.....yikes.....

Cheeky - who is singing....I'm turning Japenese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so......

Updated: Its 4:30am....I got a whole 3 hours sleep....wooohoo...umm NOT!....

Thursday Thirteen

Before I get started with my Thursday Thirteen - I wanted to say a huge "THANK YOU" for all of my cyber friends and your encouraging words and emails of support. Ya'll are the best!

Now, its time for some fun...and if you know me at all (or even just stop by the blog every now and then) you know that I am gonna sing...(hehe so here is your warning). I received a belated (but completely FABULOUS) birthday gift this week, and since this thing that is attacking my face (more on that later, but I have an appt with the dermatologist Friday AM) won't seem to let up and I have to cancel my trip to the 80's prom this weekend (but I will be going as soon as I can and Yep - I WILL be dressing up) I am gonna sing you some songs from my Time Life Superstars of the 80's CD set! (as long as I keep getting stuff like this...and I had better...hint hint...hehe....I am gonna keep singing to ya). So without further adeau.....Thirteen songs I am singing to keep my mind off of wanting to claw at my face....wait... that doesn't sound fun....let me try again... Thirteen Songs I sing when I ....well hell...basically when I just wanna sing ("and I'm fixin to sang"....HUGE bonus points for anyone who can name the movie and character that quote is from).

#1 Huey Lewis and the News - I Want a New Drug (this is sooo appropriate right now...LOL)...I want a new drug - one that won't make me sick, One that won't make me crash my car, or make me feel three feet thick. I want a new drug - one that won't hurt my head, One that won't make my mouth too dry, or make my eyes too red. One that won't make me nervous, wonderin' what to do. One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm with you, when I'm alone with you.

(what? you only thought I was gonna give you the title - no no no - ya'll are singing with me today....bwahahaha).

#2 - Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (and ya'll until you have heard me do this Kareoki style - you ain't heard nothin...LOL)...I come home in the morning light My mother says when you gonna live your life right, Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones, And girls they want to have fun, Oh girls just want to have fun...The phone rings in the middle of the night, My father yells what you gonna do with your life, Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one, But girls they want to have fun Oh girls just want to have - That's all they really want, Some fun, When the working day is done, Girls - they want to have fun..Oh girls just want to have fun...

#3 - Rick Springfield - Jessie's Girl - Jessie is a friend, yeah, I know he's been a good friend of mine, But lately something's changed that ain't hard to define, Jessie's got himself a girl and I want to make her mine...And she's watching him with those eyes...And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it, Yeah 'n' he's holding her in his arms late, late at night....You know, I wish that I had Jessie's girl, I wish that I had Jessie's girl, Where can I find a woman like that....

#4 - Tina Turner - Better be Good to Me - A prisoner of your love, Entangled in your web, Hot whispers in the night, I`m captured by your spell captured...Oh yes I'm touched by this show of emotion, Should I be fractured by your lack of devotion...Should I, should I.....Oh you better be good to me, That`s how it`s got to be now, Cause I don`t have no use, For what you loosely call the truth, Oh you better be good to me, Yes you better be good to me....

#5 - Corey Hart - Sunglasses at Night - I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can so I can Watch you weave then breath your story lines. And I wear my sunglasses at night
so I can so I can Keep track of the visions in my eyes. While she's deceiving me it cuts my security. Has she got control of me? - I turn to her and say: Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades oh no. Don't masquerade with the guy in shades oh no I can't believe it! You got it made with the guy in shades oh no...

#6 - Scandal (featuring Patty Smythe) - Warrior - You run, run, run away, It's your heart that you betray, Feeding on your hungry eyes, I bet you're not so civilized...Well isn't love primitive, A wild gift that you wanna give, Break out of captivity...And follow me stereo jungle child, Love is the kill Your heart's still wild...Shooting at the walls of heartache, Bang, bang I am the warrior...Well I am the warrior And heart to heart you'll win If you survive the warrior, the warrior...

(are you singing yet....hehehe...Shell? what about you? hehe)

#7 - Eddie Money (featuring Ronnie Spector) - Take Me Home Tonight - I feel hungry it's a hunger That tries to keep a man awake at night Are you the answer I shouldn't wonder When I can feel you whet my appetite...With all the power you're releasing It isn't safe to walk the city streets alone, Anticipation's running through me, Let's find the keys and turn the engine on.

I can feel you breathe, I can feel your heart beat faster....Take me home tonight. I don't want to let you go till you see the light, Take me home tonight, Listen honey Just like Ronnie sang...Be my little baby.

#8 - The Thompson Twins - Hold me Now - I have a picture, pinned to my wall. An image of you and of me and we're laughing and loving it all. Look at our life now, tattered and torn. We fuss and we fight and delight in the tears that we cry until dawn...Hold me now, warm my heart, stay with me, let loving start (let loving start)

You say I'm a dreamer, we're two of a kind, Both of us searching for some perfect world we know we'll never find, So perhaps I should leave here, yeah yeah go far away But you know that theres no where that I'd rather be than with you here
today ....

#9 - Pat Benetar - Love is a Battlefield - We are young, Heartache to heartache we stand, No promises, no demands, Love is a battlefield...We are strong, no on can tell us we're wrong, Searchin' our hearts for so long, Both of us knowing...Love is a battlefield...You're beggin' me to go, you're makin' me stay, Why do you hurt me so bad, It would help me to know, Do I stand in your way, or am I the best thing you've had...Believe me, believe me, I can't tell you why...But I'm trapped by your love and I'm chained to your side....We are young, Heartache to heartache we stand, no promises, no demads, Love is a battlefield....

#10 - Naked Eyes - Always Something There to Remind Me - I walk along the city streets you used to walk along with me, and every step I take reminds me of just how we used to be. Well, how can I forget you, girl? When there is allways something there to remind me...always something there to remind me. As shadows fall, I pass a small cafe where we would dance at night... And I can't help recalling how it how it felt to kiss and hold you tight Well, how can I forget you, girl? When there is allways something there to remind me. always something there to remind me. I was born to love her, and I'll never be free. You'll always be a part of me....

#11 - The Cars - You Might Think - you might think i'm crazy, to hang around with you maybe you think i'm lucky to have something to do, but i think that you're wild and inside me is some child, you might think it's foolish, or maybe it's untrue you might think i'm crazy, but all i want is you you....

#12 - Survivor - Eye of the Tiger (or aka The Starbucks commercial - Roy Roy Roy - that just cracks me up every time I see it...) Risin' up, back on the street, Did my time, took my chances, Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet, Just a man and his will to survive...So many times, it happens too fast, You trade your passion for glory, Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past, You must fight just to keep them alive...It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight, Risin' up to the challenge of our rival, And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger.....

Ok now if ya'll weren't singing before...you better be now.....(sending out a little dedication here - and you know who you are....)

#13 - Soft Cell - Tainted Love - Sometimes I feel I've got to, Run away I've got to Get away, From the pain that you drive into the heart of me, The love we share, Seems to go nowhere...And I've lost my light, For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night....Once I ran to you (I ran), Now I'll run from you, This tainted love you've given, I give you all a boy could give you, Take my tears and that's not nearly all Oh...tainted love....Tainted love

So....did ya play? Tell me about....Stud...(hehe a little Grease reference for ya).

Let me get serious for just a moment........

Warning.....this post will contain items of a somewhat serious nature....the Cheeky that you all know and think is a fairly twisted individual is still here...tied up in the chair behind me...but still here.

Let me pose to you, Cheeky's dear blogger friends... a dilemma. I have had this post ready for quite some time and was just contemplating whether or not to post it. How do you know when it is time to finally just let go and wash your hands of a friendship? Just to say the hell with it and walk away? To cut your losses and move on?

I try not to get too personal on here. Many people that read this know me IRL so I don't like to give out too much. But I will try to give you the highlights. I have a once ...ok what I want to believe is a still... dear and wonderful friend who has been very close to my heart for a really long time. We have had a falling out.

Over the last several years I have treated this person much better than this person has treated me. I have been forgiving of their shortcomings. I have been forgiving when they have done things that hurt me. Just recently, this person has made a dilberate (and recognized) effort to try to make things better. We had a falling out almost 2 months ago - I can't really go into detail but I was really hurt...devastated is more like it....quite frankly there are no words. It was a few weeks after the falling out that I found out more information (from this person's own mouth so its not rumor or heresay) that, quite frankly, I can't seem to let go. This person told me once and for all how they felt about our friendship...specifically about me. It hit me really close to home. I can't say that I am all that shocked. I have an intuition about these things..... it is not often that someone can fool me. I have felt what this person finally said out right for a long time. Yes, I can be gullable but with those that are truly close to me, I have the unique ability to see through people...I know when someone is blowing smoke up my ass. Where the problem lies is my ability to accept it for what it is. I tend to see the best in people. I see the potential. I am an optimist. I see what they can be if they try. I have a hard time accepting that people can be cruel. I am not cruel. I like to think that I am more giving (yes I have a selfish side that comes out from time to time....but don't we all have the tendency to be Sybil every now and then?). I expect those I am close with to be the same way with me but more often than not I am disappointed in this expectation. Open, honest, trustworthy. I have trusted this person more than I have trusted anyone (and I mean ANY.ONE.) in my entire 34 years of being on this earth. I have told this person things that no other person on this earth has ever known. I can't say this person has been as open with me.

Since this "revelation" I have been torn with whether to try to continue this friendship or just let it go where it may. While I am not sure that it is their intent (I am almost certain that this person doesn't know the extent of what they are doing), this person continues to hurt me on a regular basis. I know things. I know things that I shouldn't know. I know things I don't want to know. I can't explain how....I just do. Its that ability that I mentioned. I can read this person like a book when they are not being up front with me. This person is playing games and I am not quite sure why. They can say one thing to me (and quite franky I almost think they believe it when they say it) while their actions scream something else.

I am not so rich in the world that I would willingly give away a friend. But if this person is truly the friend I think they are (or rather I hope they would be), why do they continue to do the things they are doing? Are they just oblivious to what is happening? I think deep down it comes down to insecurity for themselves but am I to continue to put up with it for their sake? What about me? At what point is enough... enough? At what point do you stop going the extra mile for people when they don't do it for you? I know what you are thinking....."Cheeky just tell them what you are feeling".....I have... over and over. But over time it just seems to be....well not ignored....but not necesarily held in the highest regard as far as I am concerned. What is really sad is that I am very much like this person.....very much. We are so much alike it is almost scary. I know what they are feeling....they, for whatever reason, will not have the same faith in me that I have in them.

So, the delimma is this..... do I continue to have the faith in this person that they do not show in me....as an example and in hopes that one day they will realize what is there....or do I just say enough is enough? I am leaning toward the latter but I have to admit I may not be thinking as clearly as I would like. Perhaps I am just tired. Perhaps I am being overly emotional. Perhaps I am analyzing things a little too much. Perhaps I am losing the faith in them that I once had....or maybe the respect that I had for them.

So, Cheeky's blogger friends.....what is your opinion? I know you have one....so give it up (and yes, I am talking to the lurkers out there too that visit but don't comment....tell me what you think too). Don't feel like you need to agree with me... tell me what you honestly think about this situation and if I just need to get over myself...then tell me that too.
