And then I gave them to the mail nazi

So today is the day. All my hard work and halloweeny goodness is going out in the mail. If you are on "the list" then you should be getting yours before Friday. If you don't get it in time....blame the mail.

Also, today, is the first sweater day of the season. This decision may prove to be a mistake. I suspect the office may be too hot. I already know that I get a lot of afternoon sun and well, it tends to warm things up a bit. On second thought....I may rethink this sweater decision.

Has anyone out there in blog land ever shaved a Himalayan kitty? Kitty girl has gotten mats on her chest and it had been so hard getting them out. The thought of just getting out the clippers and doing a few quick swipes may have crossed my mind. Think miss priss would get mad?

OH and ummm I may have gotten a little excited when I saw commercials for Twilight that starts on 11/21!

Weekend Update

Hmmmm so much to tell......so little time before I head out to work. Let me see if I can hit the highlights for ya.

Friday. Snuck out of work a few minutes early (yeah yeah I don't wanna hear it...I was there an hour and half early so sneaking out 15 mins early really isn't a big deal) and headed on out to B-dubs for some wings and trivia. Seriously, that is the best combination evah! Everyone was pretty whipped and there wasn't anything good on TV so we sort of made it an early night.

Saturday. Beautiful day outside. Lots of errands and running around. Got the boat put into storage for the season and also got the sprinkler system ready to be blown out (that is happening Tuesday). Then....it was time for HOCKEY and...WE WON! It was controversial. The other team scored in the last 12 seconds of the game to tie it up but the goal didn't count cause one of their dudes was high sticking. Yes, it was a good game. Came home and crashed. Dead tired.

Sunday. Ready for this.....IT SNOWED! OK OK it didn't stick. Melted as soon as it hit the ground but that is NOT the issue. The issue is IT SNOWED before Halloween. I just can't like that. So since it was cold and blustery and snowy it was clean the inside of the house day. Lots of scrubbing going on. Then, we did a little shopping. For dinner, I made a pot roast in the crock pot with carrots and taters. Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm. After dinner I made some haystacks to take to work as a treat (I spoil those people) and watched Meet the Browns. Have I ever told you how much I enjoy Tyler Perry's movies with Madea and Mr. Brown? Oh I do. LOVE THEM. Laughed pretty hard at a couple of parts.

Crackity crack crack

Yes, it truly is the season of horror. Why? Cause I have to make a completely unexepected and unplanned visit to .......the dentist!!! I have a cracked tooth. Actually I have 3 cracked teeth but they have been cracked for quite some time and they haven't been giving me any trouble so on my regularly scheduled visit the dentist said - yep they are still cracked but since they are not bothering you we will leave them alone. And that is exactly what we did.

But, mid last week, one of them started bothering me. Bit into a chip and OUCH!!!!! So, I called the dentist and wouldn't you know, the dentist office was closed for a week. So I was careful. All weekend. Had a few incidents but over all was tolerable. Monday, I called....still closed. Tuesday I called.....still closed but I decided that maybe they forgot to change the message and so I left a message for them to call me back. I got the call last night. BUT....now I have to wait another 2 weeks before going in...just to get it checked out. THEN....I will have to go back to get it repaired (they want to see exactly what they have to do before scheduling so they can schedule enough time....ok I get it). Now of course, if it gets so bad I can't take it then I can go in and be worked in to the schedule.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the dentist? Really? You haven't heard that before?.......Well, I am sure I am going to whine and moan about it again....in about 2 weeks. I know, you can't wait.

Its all mine.....and other random things

Today is the day.....ADD boy's last day is today. I can survive on some things but on others....well, lets just say I have my work cut out for me. Like I said before, I like the dude, he is smart, he just keeps all the info in his head and that won't do me any good while he is gone. Speaking of gone, the rest of the office, managers and directors are gone on a retreat this week too. So its going to be me, the front desk person and the computer guy for a few days. I am ok with this. It will give me a chance to get some things done and get myself organized as much as possible. I have slowly began to integrate my flamingos. I have more to bring in - including a string of lights. I have even contemplated bringing in one of my neon window flamingos. Think that is going over the top? Nahhhhh me nether.

On the crafty front, I think I have found my Christmas card design. Its simple, yet elegant. I am going to play with it this weekend and if all goes well I hope to get a chunk of them done - at least partially. Since I am in an office setting now, I need to do a few more halloween cards for the folks there. So I will do those this weekend too.

Teenage daughter went to see the new movie Quanrantine this weekend. She said it was horrible. Just horrible. Pretty much like my review of The Happening from this summer - not even worth the two hours you spend watching it. Yep, it was that bad.

Weekend Update

So this weekend wasn't as busy busy as I thought it would be - but you don't hear me complaining.

Friday was happy hour after work (ok so we all left work an hour early to go enjoy). It was the big goodbye to the guy I am replacing. He is actually going to be at work Monday and half a day on Tuesday but the rest of the office will not be there because of the retreat so we did it on Friday.

Got home early and ordered pizza - Friday is pizza night. Played a little Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Saturday. Birthday party at D&B and errands (groceries, etc). Then it was honkers for dinner. MMMmmmm MMMMmmmm. Watched the Wild kick the Bruins butt in the season opener and then called it an early night and fell asleep during the second skit of MadTV.

Sunday....had the first making of traditional fall/winter comfort food. Yep, that's right - we made chili....mmmmm....mmmm.....

Pretty uneventful and lazy. What about ya'll?

So, this is NOT what I wanted to deal with this morning. See over there on the side...under my reads....how its BLANK!...That would be because apparently blogrolling up and died or something and nobody sent me a "sorry for your loss" card. Uh huh. So, not only is it dead....but so are my links....yes, I am not not happy.

Now does anyone out there know if blogrolling is just in a coma or is it really dead? If its dead, what do ya'll use for a suitable replacement???

I have taken over

So, the guy that I am filling in for is leaving next Tuesday. He keeps all his notes and information in his head. NOT GOOD. This means if I have a question, he automatically has the answer but I always follow up and say "so, when you are gone, where would I go to get that information?" and that is when I get the deer in the headlights look.

Don't get me wrong, I like this guy. Super nice, we have a lot more in common than you would think especially from a personal standpoint (side note to my bishes: you know the crap I have been going through this summer? well so has he...same thing in reverse). I think he is really smart. BUT (you knew there was a but didn't ya) he is the most unorganized person I have ever seen and it is driving me nuts.

So today, I have a project for him. He left early yesterday and I stayed late cleaning off the desk. Every stack, every file, every invoice, everything that has not been handled but needs his attention is in a stack (not quite a foot high but pretty close) and he is going to do NOTHING but that stack today. NOTHING. Anything else comes up, I will do it. Problem needs handling, I will do it. The VP (that I report to) loves this by the way. I sort of started my "bitchy" tirade half way through the day yesterday. I was being a smart eleck to him all day (but in a good fun way). I am not mean but just very matter of fact about it. He understands but still gives me crap. That is one of the things I like about this office - they all give each other crap on a daily basis. I love that!

I have also made a few friends out of the managers and directors. I had one come over to me about 15 mins before time to leave and ask me to do something. She assumed that I wouldn't do it until the following day. I said "are you going to be here in about 5 mins?" She said "yeah, why?". I said, "well give me 5 mins and this will be done". She was in shock. That is not what she expected. And because I just did it and didn't wait, I am now offering someone a job first thing this morning. If I would have waited, it could have delayed the offer which can cause all sorts of problems. She thanked me for doing it so quick and I said to her "well you have already done the hard part - that part was easy". She looked and me and said "I like your attitude".

Yes, I like this place of business. I like the service they provide. I like the people that work there. I like the fact they give each other crap. Yep, I like it.

was born! Yes, today is the manchild's birfday. And since its his day he gets to choose dinner. The menu? Stuffing, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese. Yes, he likes the starches. But its his day and if that is what he wants - then that is what he gets. We will do the party this weekend at Dave & Busters.

Monday Monday Monday

And the kids are OFF of school but I have to go to WORK! What is wrong with that I ask you.

I had a pretty nice weekend. Saturday we made a Costco run and just sort of hung around the house. We watched Iron Man on DVD. I saw it at the theater but wanted to see it again.


Sunday it was cold and gray and rainy......so I decided to go to the crafty show....cause that always makes my day sunny. I bought a few things but not as much as in shows past. This particular show was a little smaller than the Spring show. I did get a few ideas for my Christmas cards so hopefully I will have some time to play with that soon.

At one point over the weekend (can't remember if it was Friday or Saturday night), I was just getting settled in to bed and manchild came in and crawled behind me. He started rubbing my back and said "Mom, nobody ever rubs YOUR back". Yes, this kid will make some girl very happy one day.

OH and I thought I would introduce you to one of my coworkers - he is there on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.....



Now how can you dread Monday's when you have that waiting for you???

First day was a success!

So far so good on the new job. The dude that I am filling in for is training me and leaves in a week. He is nice and knows his stuff. Problem is.....he is completely and totally disorganized. And while he knows where crap is.....don't mean I will when he is gone so I have my work cut out for me over the next week trying to at least get a handle on where things are.

The office is a work hard play hard kind of place. Family friendly so if I need to take off early or come in late its no biggie. The Owner/CEO Rocks!

I have refrained from bringing in the flamingo goodies until the dude leaves....don't want to move him out too soon....LOL

Have various activities to choose from for the weekend so I will see what happens and give you and update on Monday!

Hi Ho...Hi Ho....Its off to work I go....

Wouldn't you know just when I start getting my blogging mojo back I get a job....geesh! Figures!

I went to the first of many Wild games last night.....yes my friends - its hockey season.... which means I am gonna have snow on the ground before I know it, I don't think I can get happy about that.

I am sure I will have tales to tell of the new peeps. Just give it a few days...hehe. So until then I will give you a little blogthing....cause I know ya'll love them. So what do you think? Is it me?
