I am ready

....For a change in the weather......its time for spring to really be here. I got my toes did and well....I can't show them off if its cold now can I??? I am ready to not have to have a coat hanging by my door. I am ready to drive with the windows down. I am ready to sleep with my windows open. I am ready to plant my flowers and watch them bloom. I am ready to smell the lilac outside my bedroom. I am ready.

Reason 2,567,223 why

....I don't particularly like living here.....Everybody is so freakin quick to call the cops when all it would have taken is you to be a real neighbor and speak to your other neighbor. If you don't like something that your neighbor's children are doing....like say....throwing rocks (hello....that is what kids do....morons!)...what do you do? A: Be an adult neighbor and walk across the yard knock on the door and speak with the parents? B: Yell out the door to the offending children and tell them to knock that crap out? C: Call the cops. Yeah, you and I would probably do A or B. Ok Ok I would just do B....but everyone here wants to call the cops....on KIDS for BEING KIDS!! And you would think that this would rarely happen right? WRONG! We have had 2 nice weekends and the cops have now been called TWICE! Seriously.....I can't make this crap up if I wanted to.

Luckily, man child hasn't been involved (although it is his little friends that he plays with all the time and it will be just a matter of time before he acts like...gasp...a kid himself).

Rumble rumble rumble.....

Last night was the first thunder and lightning of the season. See, around these here parts, tornado season starts in April and runs through October and with it comes some really great storms. I lurves me a really great thunder storm.

And true to form, Kitty girl got tense with the first rumble. She is skeered of storms. Manchild gets a little worried too but refuses to admit it. I guess he just doesn't have the fascination with good ol momma nature like I do.

Rain.....

Instead of snow....I'll take it!!! Its been raining since sometime in the late night early morning. And at times, raining pretty hard. Do you know how relaxing that is? Its wonderful. So even though I woke up multiple times during the night, I quickly went back to sleep - listening to the rain. Even this morning I reset my clock to get another hour of listening to the rain.

This past weekend I didn't do much. I did however buy a copy of Twilight (the movie) oh yes, I did! I am definitely team Edward.

Tis the Season.....

To be grillin!!! Last night was a grill season staple around Chez Cheeky. Grilled chicken boobs, grilled veggies (red onion, red, yellow, green bell peppers, baby bella shrooms, and cherry tomatoes) tossed with red wine vinegar (ahh soo good) and then some baked beans. YUMMY!!! Seriously, its YUMMY!!!

The rest of the week (ok the next 10 days) is lookin good for grillin so I am sure I will be putting it to good use (hmmm I am thinking the grill needs a name....perhaps ol smokey?).

Now, all we need is fresh veggies that are in season.....and we are in business.

So, I am nostalgic......but you knew that

So this weekend, Friday night/Sat morning to be exact, I was awake. I had went to bed at a decent hour but woke up about 3am-ish. So I decided to go downstairs and watch a little tv. I laid on the couch, wrapped up in a quilt and got all comfy (in case I fell back asleep). As we all know, late night/early morning TV stinks unless of course you are a connoisseur of infomercials (which I am by the way). I got tired of infomercials so I decided to watch TV land. I was drifting in and out and then that is when it happened. Elvis - live from Hawaii came on(it was a re-run from the 70's of course - we all know that Elvis is now living comfortably in hiding) . No way I am sleeping now. I lurves me some Elvis. Even the mutton chopped, bejeweled, bell bottom wearing Elvis. Kitty Girl layed with me, actually snuggled a little (shocker I know) and watched it - all of it. Apparently, she lurves her some Elvis too.

Saturday was just a regular day except....it was in the lower 50's - say it with me now...AAAHHHHHHHH. The snow was melting like crazy (lots of ponds now exist in low lying areas). Did a little errand running and got some honkers for the grill. Oh yes, the grill had thawed out and was ready to be used. Say it with me now AAAAAHHHHHH.

Sunday...was coupon day. Clipped the coupons, looked at the sales, tried to figure out where the best deal was and then headed out. Went to 3 stores. The cost of shopping was reduced roughly 33%. I saved about $75 with coupons and deals......not too shabby if I say so myself. The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying the sun and warmth (mid 50's).

Cheeky - who has this stupid commercial stuck in her head. Teenage daughter loves it....its driving me nuts......

I know I know

I haven't been around much but I have good excuses. Tuesday....my internet was out for a little while in the AM so I didn't get to post. Yesterday, I over slept. Can't seem to get it together this week. My focus has been a little out of focus. I think some weekend crafting might bring it back into focus. What do you think?

Tonight is the greatest TV night of the week....Survivor and Hell's Kitchen. Nothing like great TV to get you headed into the weekend.

Today is my dental consult.....I really don't want to do this crown thing.....but unfortunately ignoring this won't make it go away.

Times they are a changin.....

Was a time that I could go to the movies and see a highly anticipated super hero flick and enjoy it. Not this weekend. I went to see Watchmen. Now, I know its dark and not your average super hero flick. I know that. I haven't read the graphic novel but I did a lot of reading last week getting my self up to speed in anticipation of the movie. Ummmm I could go into detail but I won't (I don't want people finding my blog with those key words ...snicker). And definitely NOT for the kids. Nope nope nope.

Save your time and watch Hotel for Dogs instead.

And don't get me started on the time change........its gonna be a loong day.

The end of brace face....

Today....teenage daughter gets her braces off. Its been 2 years and 2 months and now it is all over. Yes, I will post pics but that will have to be tomorrow when I get home and see for myself.

It will be interesting to see what she thinks.

Speaking of teeth....I went to the dentist myself this week. Never a happy time in my life (if you have been reading long ya'll know how I feel about the dentist). Well first off, the hygienist I usually get is no longer in that office so now they gave me some torture queen that needs to be questioning terrorists with her tactics. I really don't want her again. I really don't.

Then to top it off.....one of my fractures (I am a grinder, I have many fractures in my teeth) is at the point that it requires a crown. Ummmmm, I don't think so. I had my first crown right after moving here and they used sedation that was supposed to give me amnesia. Ummm it didn't work. And the Dentist said they used the max amount on me. So now they have someone that can totally put me out....like do surgery on me put me out. Sounds good to me. Problem is.....insurance won't cover it. Ummmm.....that with the cost of the crown.....ummmm I don't think so. I am thinking I am just going to take a "wait and see" attitude. Could work in my favor....could result in a root canal down the road (which I have never had and which they WILL be knocking me the crap out for).

So in honor of all the teethy things going on this week - I am singing a little....Hall and Oates.....

700!!! Really?!? 700?!!

Yep, as I was getting ready to do a post about the weekend and how it was just a regular weekend and how I took the manchild and a friend to see Hotel for Dogs (its cute but wait for the rental), it dawned on me that this....this little so so every day kinda post...is number 700!!! Really......I wouldn't kid ya about that.

700 posts? I guess I had a lot to say....or whine about...or sing! So, in honor of my 700th post I am gonna sing a little.....oh I dunno....so many choices.....how's about a little Kool and the Gang.....well it WAS gonna be some Kool and the Gang but the embedding was diabled on the player and I want you to be able to hear it so let's go with something else......no wait....even better...ya'll sing to me!!!
