Thursday, April 30, 2009Want to avoid the Swine Flu?Then don't do this...... Wednesday, April 29, 2009Totally busyEarly days, late nights. That has been me this week so far at work hence, no witty postings. I don't see it getting any better this week. Well maybe Thursday afternoon will be early.....maybe. So, tell me something fun or interesting about you.....while we wait for me to get back to posts with actual sustenance. Monday, April 27, 2009Prom 09So this weekend teenage daughter and the boyfriend went to the prom..... Friday, April 24, 2009Well I did it!I opened an etsy shop. Its totally bare right now but I am working on that (bare as in no product, no design, no bling). I asked the girl that did my banner for my blog to do one for my shop - and she agreed! It may take a week or so (she is a very busy girl) but her work is worth it to me. OH and the address is http://cheekyflamingo.etsy.com How do you like that name for a shop - Cheeky Flamingo! I thought it was cute. So, more to come when I get it up and running I will let all ya'll know - because well....I am gonna need ya'll to talk it up, link it, etc and get me some buyers - Woot Woot!! Thursday, April 23, 2009Piss Off!!! (hahahaha)I said that because me and the admin have this little inside joke. We both adore Hell's Kitchen and one of Gordon's favorite sayings is "piss off" so she and I will tell each other that and then giggle - yes we are immature. If anyone ever over hears us I am sure they will wonder why we are mad at each other but we just think its hilarious. I was even going to write it in her Administrative Professional's Day card today but being that we are in HR it probably wasn't appropriate. Anyway, she was in a particularly good mood yesterday and I thought I was in a good mood too until she came over and said to me....."Are you pissy?" Ummmm I didn't think so. But apparently she was right. I was pissy for no reason but I guess it was just PMS or something. I didn't feel like I was but by the day's end I was ready to just tell a few people exactly which bridge they could jump off of and if they didn't want to jump I would be happy to push them. See, even writing this now...I seem ....well....pissy! But really, I am not. This weekend is shaping up to be another rainy weekend so I think I am going to be crafting again. I seem to have found some crafty mojo and I want to capitalize on it while I can. I am thinking of setting up an Etsy shop for my cards. Ya'll get my cards, what do you think (and if you don't get them you should so just send me your addy and you'll start getting them)? And no, I am not looking for you to blow smoke up my butt and tell me I am great (well you could ... if you wanted to...HA!) but I think it would be fun and if I could make a buck or two then why not right? So tell me, should I set up shop? Would ya'll send buyers my way? Write raving reviews? (wait, can you do that on Etsy? I will have to look into it). I am not as talented as some crafters but I can hold my own AND a fellow blogger (who doesn't blog anymore ....does that make her a non-blogger?) showed me a link to a chic that has amazing ideas and well I can just build from there...... Cheeky - who has a ton of ideas floating around and must craft soon! Wednesday, April 22, 2009Spinning PlatesHave you ever seen that guy or gal that does the spinning plates (or balls or whatever) at the circus? Well that was me yesterday at work. Get one or two things going then have to move on to something else but then come back and spin one and two some more before moving on then coming back to spin those that are already spinning....you get it. Just one of those days where the word multitasking just doesn't cut it. Not a bad day....just lots of things going on. I am hoping that I can put one or two or three of those plates away today....cause I know more are coming. Tuesday, April 21, 2009A weekend of doom and gloomBut I had a good time! This weekend on the History channel was "Armageddon Weekend" show after show after show about things that could "possibly" destroy the earth. Meteors, Super Volcanoes, Massive Earthquakes. It was quite interesting but I have always enjoyed science and stuff. And no doom and gloom weekend would be complete without a little Nostradamus predictions and of course the obligatory global warming. While I am on the subject - Can I share how much this whole global warming thing is getting on my last nerve? Seriously, almost every sci-fi movie I have seen in the theaters over the last year has included something about global warming (we won't even talk about The Happening - I just can't go there again and that is time out of my life I will never get back). Even Escape to Witch Mountain (which by the way is a decent rental but don't waste theater bucks on it unless you go for the popcorn like I do) had to have a reference. ENOUGH ALREADY!!! It doesn't matter if you buy into it totally, a little bit, or not at all. Just quit shoving it down my throat. Geesh - enough is enough. Friday, April 17, 2009My new toy.....(EA are you jealous? hehe)OK its not a toy its furniture but to me its a toy......THANKS RICK!!! for making it for me!!!!! I still need to line all the drawers and there are a few sets of stamps still not in there but you get the idea...... Drawer 1 Drawer 2 Drawer 3 Drawer 4 Drawer 6 (no I didn't forget 5 its just not filled yet) Thursday, April 16, 2009OH what a beautiful morn....ning.....It appears that spring has FINALLY arrived here in the tundra. The sun is out and shining and its actually....warm. Sweet. The sandals have once again emerged from hibernation and ready to be seen in all their glory. I think its time to hit Kohl's soon and get a few spring shirts for work and retire some of this winter stuff. I have also started walking again in the afternoons. Its nice. (see that is my way of not whining and complaining and griping and moaning....just say its nice and move on). I am running a little late this morning so that's all you get but be sure to come back tomorrow for the debut of the stamp cabinet! Wednesday, April 15, 2009Ain't it the truthsee more Lolcats and funny pictures Tuesday, April 14, 2009Welcome to the real worldSo yesterday, was Monday. It was orientation day. In class I had quite a few pleasant new hires that were ready to get started. Then there was the cantankerous old fart. He is retired military. Which, if ya'll know me, is just fine. Except, this old fart doesn't get that the what happens in the military is not what happens in the real world. For example, part of starting any new job is that you have to complete new hire forms. He didn't bring the required documents. We talked and I told him by federal law we were required to do certain things. FEDERAL LAW. He continued to argue and stated many times that it wasn't this way in the military. Well guess what old fart....you're not in Kansas anymore....this is the real world and your government requires these things and if you can't comply by the end of business on Wednesday, you will be finding yourself a new job. Then he proceeded to glare at me for the next 8 hours. The entire class. Now don't get me wrong.....I like those that have given of themselves to serve their country. I respect it. But...once you are out....don't expect the world to conform to you. Follow the rules. Geesh. Monday, April 13, 2009I have been lazyI admit it.....just lazy - which is why there haven't been many posts last week. Not too much going on. I did go to a going away happy hour for the guy I replaced at work. OK let me back up.....I started this job as a temp position just to fill in while J went to basic training. Then, they decided to keep my in January and J was still gone. J called about 2 weeks ago and said he was coming home. That was the good news....the bad news...he is headed to Iraq! So, we took some time to hang out with him while he was in town. Had a good Easter weekend. I received a piece of furniture from Uncle Rick! Its a stampers cabinet and I have been having a blast just playing and looking at and organizing my stamps. Just like a kid in the candy store. It was a bitter sweet weekend for the Wild. They won their last two games (and in those 2 games there were 3 open net goals....sweet!) but they didn't have any chances for the playoffs so Wild hockey is done for this season. Also, our coach, the only coach the Wild has known, is done. So changes are a comin. I went to see the new Nic Cage flick....Knowing this weekend. Ummm its decent. Not sure I like the ending...but definitely worth a rental. That's all I got for now....I promise to be better this week and post regulary again. Cheeky - who is off to eat her eggs! Monday, April 06, 2009A History of Life.....through MusicHave ya'll been catching the one hit wonders of the 80's on VH1 recently? I have been taken back. 99% of those songs and/or videos I can remember something about my life. A moment. Something fun, something sad, something meaningful. Ya'll know me....if ever anyone ever wants to write a play about my life....it would be a musical!!!! So, here is just one of the many many one hit wonders that is sticking in my head.....what's one of your favs? Something in the moonlight catches my eye The shadow of a lover goes dancing by Looking for a little bit of love to grow, so Give me love, give me heart and soul You never let me cross to the other side now I'm tied to the hope that you will somehow Hard on the heels of something more But I lost your love, heart and soul The tear in my heart as you walk on by (more than an ocean) I feel so low and your head is high Everything you do convinces me more (keeps us apart) Please, give me love, give me heart and soul Looking to the day when I saw your face (I feel a tearing in half of my heart) I wasn't in the running, I wasn't in the race You move in a way that I've known before Now I want your love, heart and soul Tired eyes, tears that dried (leaving you ain't easy now) On the bed, on the pillow, where the love has died (loving you's the harder part) A turn of the key, through the door you go (you never want me for myself) Don't look back, to hurt me more (now I've needed you right from the very start) Everything you said was to the point Can't you try to (oh won't you even try to) Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) Give a little bit of love to grow Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) And don't you make me beg for more (must I beg you) Give a sign, I need to know A little bit of heart and soul Walking on the water, walking on the air (a walk on the water) That was the heart of the love we shared Do you keep secret left untold (is all that I need) Can't give love, heart or soul I used to have a lover with a Midas touch (but miracles are not happening) I turned to gold but he turned to dust Left me for another, I turned to stone Now give me love, heart and soul Tired eyes, tears that dried (living in a fantasy) On the bed, on the pillow, where you told your lies (there's never any room to breathe) A turn of the key, my blood runs cold (hoping every waking hour) Don't look back to hurt me more (you'll turn around and say that we can start) Everything you did just said it all Can't you try to (oh won't you even try to) Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) Give a little bit of love to grow Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) And don't you make me beg for more (must I beg you) Give a sign, I need to know A little bit of heart and soul Somehow, I lost my way Looking to see something in your eyes But love will never compromise Now this is the politics of life, yeah! Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) Give a little bit of love to grow Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) And don't you make me beg for more (must I beg you) Give a sign, I need to know A little bit, little bit Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) Give a little bit of love to grow Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) And don't you make me beg for more (must I beg you) Give a sign, I need to know A little bit, little bit Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) Give a little bit of love to grow Give a little bit of heart and soul (give a little bit of heart and soul) And don't you make me beg for more Friday, April 03, 2009SoooooooWhen you are in a public restroom......and you are in your own individual stall....away from everyone......in your own private space.......doing your own private business.....and you sneeze......do you say excuse me????? Apparently people in my building do. Now the question is......should I have said "bless you"????????? Wednesday, April 01, 2009Conversations with the man childSo....we were watching TV last night and a commercial came on for a new CD. Manchild was sitting beside me and says: Manchild: Hey Mom that's the guy from that 70's show Cheeky: (looking at the TV) no its not Manchild: Yes it is. Look at him. He's dressed different but that's him Cheeky: Manchild! That's NOT Fez....Its PRINCE! But if you do sorta glance at the commercial in the beginning. It kinda sorta does remind you of Fez......
