Thursday, May 29, 2008You will be missed. So very sad.....just breaks my heart......We lost a great one....and that's all I have to say about that..... RIP - Harvey Korman 1927-2008 It's almost time to ramp up card production again - woot! The recruiting contract that I have been working since March is coming to an end. Next Friday as a matter of fact. They were talking for the longest time about extending or making us full time but now they aren't so sure. Not that we (that would be me and two others) aren't total rockstars - cause we are, its because they have $$ issues. I am fine with this and quite frankly am looking forward to "retirement part deux" especially for the summer (and it will soooo allow me to spend more quality time I have a lead on another work from home position that I am going to follow up on. Its 100% commission but I am ok with that because I already have everything I need here at home and then they provide everything else. That is a sweet opportunity that I can't pass up. So we will see how it goes. In the meantime, I feel my crafty mojo starting to flow again. I am itching to spend some quality time down in my craft room. I cleaned it up really purty like over the weekend and now its time to go make it messy again. Below are a few items I came up with last Friday night. I have already mailed them out to the intended receivers so its ok to post them now. I think most of you are on "the list" but if you aren't and you want to be just email me (the link is on my profile) with your mailing info and then I will mail little goodies to you from time to time. Wednesday, May 28, 2008Ummm this sounds sort of perverted.....
Monday, May 26, 2008Weekend UpdateFriday I skipped out of work early and then played in my crafty room. Made a few cards and they are in the mail already - woot! Mr. Cheeky came home on Saturday. Sooooo we were lazy slobs Saturday day then in the evening... well the pic speaks for itself..... Nope....its not my ear...that is the teenage daughter's ear. And for the record I am not saying I approve....BUT....at this stage of the game you pick your battles right? She paid for it. She is responsible for it. She deals with the consequences of it.....and for the record Mr. Cheeky took her to get it - not me. Sunday I went to see me some Indiana Jones.....LOVED IT!!! Yep I loved me some Indy and at this stage if I was to have another kid (no, I am not even thinking about it and NO I am not going there) it would be named Indy. Hmmmm maybe if I get a dog.... We also had some pretty big storms on Sunday. Golf ball sized hail. I have video...its cool. But I can't find the camera right now to show it to you. Monday was spent cleaning the house. OK Mr. Cheeky did more than I did. I cleaned the office and my craft room. BUT the best news is....the stink pickle in the office was FOUND!!! It was well hidden behind the desk. I spent Monday evening singing with the manchild - some Conway Twitty and a lot of the muppets tunes....yes, we are well versed in musical genres in this house. Labels: Weekend Update Friday, May 23, 2008The nose knows.....Or alternately titled.....How the girl got the crap scared out of her - literally. Yesterday, mister adventurer, otherwise known as Sylvester, snuck out of the house and had a little adventure. No one even knew he was outside until Kitty Girl saw him and ratted him out. She was in the downstairs window meowing and manchild took notice. He saw Sylvester and went out to get him. No big deal. Right? Wrong! In the brief time that Sylvester was outside Kitty Girl apparently disowned him and decided she no longer had a brother because when he came in she acted like he was a brand new cat. Hissing, screaming and fighting ensued. Now, Sylvester is not one to back away from some wraslin action. But he was playing, Kitty Girl wasn't. When Sylvester figured this out he went on the attack. And it was ugly. Kitty Girl had bitten off more than she could chew and litterally crapped her pants. On my rug. Seperate the cats. One in one part of the house, one in the other. Clean up and deodorize. They were seperated for a while and Sylvester came to make ammends (its so funny watching him do that). Kitty Girl was having nothing of it. So she starts hissing and spitting and getting all scared again. And drops another stink pickle. In my bedroom. Seperate the cats. Clean up and deodorize. Then one last time before bed we try to let them get along. Sylvester isn't doing anything wrong. Its all Miss Priss. Hissing, spitting and fighting (on her part - Sylvester was just standing there looking at this crazy woman wondering what he did). This time it was in the office. Seperate cats for the night. Upon doing the last round in the house, turning off lights and making sure doors are locked I smell an aroma coming from the office. But can't find it. I assume that maybe I have the smell stuck there from previous incidents. I call teenage daugther, she smells it too. But we can't find it. We look everywhere and just can't find it. I open the window, close off the door and just go to bed. I can't take it anymore. So now this morning, I am in the office. There is a faint odor but still can't find it. I guess I will be doing a major clean and moving furniture in this room tonight to find it. So far this morning the cats have not been reunited. So, how's your Friday starting??? Thursday, May 22, 2008Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves.....It's meme time. I stole it from someone who stole it from a tramp who stole it from someone else....yes, I know, I have great taste in blogger buds (ya'll buncha thievin' tramps...hehehe - ya'll know I pink puffy heart ya) So here we go.... Outside My Window… dunno the windows are too dirty to see through. I am thinking…I need to pay someone to come do my windows. I am going…To consider looking in the phone book but there aren't many that do windows. I am thankful for… the ability to read so I can look for someone to do my windows. I finished… letting my fingers do the walking they got tired of looking for someone to come do my windows. I am wearing… A nightie shirt (but what does that have to do with windows?). I am creating… apparently nothing since I can't get inspired cause I can't see out my windows. I am going… to go look on the net to find someone to do my windows. I am reading… some online ads for window washers. I am hoping… one of ya'll that are reading this here meme will take pity on me and come do my windows. I am hearing… the sound of bugs committing suicide against my windows (which is why they need washing). I have to tackle… apparently I have to tackle washing the windows since none of ya'll are gonna do it for me. One of my favorite things… Good clean windows! The BEST things about American Idol last night......That America got it right and David Cook won! He will do very well. And the second thing....The Pips!!! Seriously, that one on the right was sorta cute don't ya think? Wednesday, May 21, 2008Happy with some decisions and making some moreWell, I have to say that I am very pleased with the executive decision to send the PC to the ICU. PC is home now. Less than a day and it was fixed. I am sure it was something simple and that I paid way too much but I am ok with that. I didn't have the frustration of it all. Now I do have to do the minor little tweaks on resolution and other things. You know, they always feel the need to mess with stuff like that - so now I have to make it mine again. So yes, I am happy with this decision. As for my making new ones. I have decided that there is something just not so kosher at the work place. There is potential but with the way things are right now I don't know if they are going to reach that potential. Major announcements were made yesterday and as a result we are back to me having to kick and scream just to get the basic resources to do my job. I have just over 2 weeks left on my contract. If they ask me to extend - fine but not full time. Its summer and I want to take some time with the kids. I am not sure what I will say if they ask me why I am not going full time. I will need to be tactful. I don't want to burn any bridges ya know? And there is possibility to come back in the fall for more contract work on the other side of the business where I started out (and really enjoyed). So that is my decision there. So, did ya watch the American Idol finale last night? Who do you want to win? Tuesday, May 20, 2008OK ....so I broke downI admit it, I am wimp. After fooling with that #$%%^$% PC for 8 hours on Sunday and going to bed exhausted and not sleeping well. Then getting up and the first thing I noticed was the anxiety I had over the #$^%Y% PC I made an executive decision. I was calling the Geek Squad (ok I was taking it in but you get the point). Yes, I know that its going to cost me $$ up front. Yes, I know this. But you know what, its worth it. Lets face it, I have already wasted 8 hours. Then I would have worried about it all week. Then when Mr. Cheeky gets home we will waste another day or two with both of us getting frustrated and snappy with each other and you know what....in the scheme of things, its just not worth it. So, yesterday when I got home, I took it to the PC ICU. The geek behind the counter was funny, I knew I would like him when he looked and me and said "duuuude you gotta dell". He also liked my twang, and the fact that I was a gamer. So he understands that saving a character that I have been developing for almost 7 years is pretty important to me. He gets it. So, if you are so inclined, PC likes flowers and goodies....so send them straight to the ICU! OK now on to happier things.....SCRAPPP STAMPY GOODNESS! See this pic right here?? That is just part of my stash from the Expo on Saturday.....and HOPEFULLY....I just might get to play with some of it at some point this week. Yes, there is a set of potty humor stamps (can't wait to use them. I also learned some new techniques that I want to try. So, once I do get some time to play.....look out cause I will be sending them out randomly to my blogger buds (if you are not on the list and want to be email me with your addy). Funny stuff happened yesterday but I can't remember it now. Just little tidbits. I really need to start walking around with a little note pad to capture this craziness. Monday, May 19, 2008This is not the post I had intended for todayI had a great little outline in my head of weekend goodness but all that got ruined yesterday. I spent 8 hours.....8 hours working on my home PC. It can be saved. But not by me. I am done with it. I am too frustrated with it. I am NOT paying big bucks to get it fixed (OK maybe I will but not yet). So....its off until Mr. Cheeky gets home this weekend. He can deal with it. I did take a break from the madness to watch Jon Bon Jovi on 60 Minutes last night. Did you see it? Maybe I will have a better update tomorrow.... Friday, May 16, 2008She works hard for the moneyHelga was tired of hanging out with Kitty Girl and Sylvester so she decided to tag along and come to work with me this week. At first I think she was a little intimitaded by my beaded flamingo - Flash. You can just tell what she is thinking.... Helga is a very quick learner and so when she was done with all the filing, she wanted to be in charge of the phones.... Before long she was interviewing like a pro.....I even taught her the art of twanging... But you have to watch out for that Helga.....she is a sneaky one. She definitely knows how to schmooze.... Now on to my Mr. Cheeky news. I couldn't really say anything until it was announced officially....but it has been so now...I can say it.....Mr. Cheeky has been promoted....AGAIN! This is the second time since we moved here in Dec. of 2005 (I think its the 5th time overall since being with the company). Woot! Manchild had his first soccer game of the season last night - they won 4-3! I hope ya'll have a GREAT weekend....I myself am going to the Rubberstamp/Scrapbook Expo at the fairgrounds this weekend. See if I can't OD on some scrappy goodness. Labels: Helga, Man Child, Mr. Cheeky Wednesday, May 14, 2008Not sure if I completely agree - but it is what it is
Tuesday, May 13, 2008So I know its supposed to be about Helga todayBut I am too lazy to find the cord for the camera so its gonna be about me instead. I have a decision to make. I have been going back and forth with it for a couple of weeks now. I have to decide if I want to try and take this contract gig full time. On one hand its not really hard but on the other my commissions are based on other people doing their job and doing it successfully. They are nice people and I like them but these people are very green....and inexperienced....and don't know how to do the job well - and yet my comissions will be based on them. Ummmm I see major frustration with that. There are some things about the company as a whole that concern me. They are learning some tough lessons right now but the fact that they didn't have the foresight to see you can't do what they did is concerning. But then again.....it is money. Decent money. AND I know they want me so I have some negotiating power (telecommuting a couple days a week perhaps). So, I am torn. Monday, May 12, 2008I am spoiledI know it. I say it all the time. I.AM.SPOILED. But it really is Mr. Cheeky's fault so we will blame him LOL. Yesterday was Mothers Day. And I was spoiled again. I was served coffee in bed and was told to stay there until breakfast. I came down when breakfast was ready and was given a gift card to Kohl's (amount not disclosed and when asked I was told - its enough to get whatever you want....woot). After breakfast I was told that I could go shopping at Kohl's and then go to Archiver's and get whatever I want (such a dangerous statement). But I decided I didn't want to go to to Archivers that day (Bella and Jessica, I know you probably just passed out when I said that). I decided that since I am going to the rubber stamping and scrapbook expo this weekend at the fairgrounds I wanted to save my money for that. So, I chose to go into my crafty room and play. While the men folk cleaned the house and did all the laundry and changed the sheets on my bed. Yes, go back, read that last line again.....see told ya I am spoiled. Later in the day, Mr. Cheeky took manchild to get new shoes for soccer, teenage daughter was working, and I was playing. It was great. I got 8 layouts and 10 cards made - WOOT! THEN.....Mr. Cheeky made the most FANTABULOUS dinner....LOBSTER.HONKER.SHRIMP. So.very.good. Yes, I have left overs (no left over lobster - that is the first thing eaten). Yesterday was just what the doctor ordered.....I am recharged for a while. Now on to other updtes. Mr. Cheeky has news, but I can't talk about it in a public forum until Friday. Helga has been busy. Her update will be tomorrow. One more thing - read the post before this one if you haven't already. It was a rare weekend post so I am not sure if you saw it. If you blog and post pictures on your blog you MUST read it and go to the link. Then spread the word. Saturday, May 10, 2008So, do you like keeping what is yours?OK ya'll know me. I am not one to go all political on my blog. And when I do get on my saopbox its typically because people are stupid and can't drive or cut me off, or are rude or some nonsense as that. But....there is something going on out that there will effect all of us that blog, participate in message boards, share photos (via flickr, blogs or other site) on line. There are two bills in congress right now that if passed - would give companies the right to take ANY picture or image they find on the internet and use them as they see fit. Go HERE to read about it. It failed before because of public outcry but this time they are sneaking it through. Read about it and share this with your friends and family that blog or share images on line. Stepping off my soapbox now....... Friday, May 09, 2008I'm LateNo time to post - must make tons of muffins for a girls last day at work....will post later today or this evening. OH and Mr. Cheeky is coming HOME tonight - Woot! Thursday, May 08, 2008I love messing with these peopleI get a call last night. At first they called me by the female version of Mr. Cheeky's name. Ummm no. Then they called me Mrs. Cheeky and completely butchered the pronunciation of my last name - which for the record is not hard to pronounce. Then I sat there as she went through the schpeel..... "We are a market research firm, we are not trying to sell you anything, we just want to get your satisfaction levels with your local utility company would that be alright?" I may have replied: "No, that will not be alright because I am pretty much never satisfied with anything". When will these people learn. Wednesday, May 07, 2008HelgaHelga arrived Friday night from SC. Not only was she exhausted from traveling but she was in a bit of a weather shock. She left the warm sunny skies to the low 40's and rain (with chances of snow that night). It was all too much to bear. So she bedded down for a little R&R. Monday she accompanied us to Teenage daughter's softball game. She wanted to play so badly. She was even caught trying to put on a helmet. End the end she decided being a spectator could be just exciting. Here she is giving the ref crap about a bad call - you go girl! Stay tuned because Helga has also been getting crafty.....quite the creative one she is..... Labels: Helga, Teenage Daughter Tuesday, May 06, 2008I didn't write it - but I could have....Sing it to the tune of "You're Beautiful" by James Blount...... My job is stupid my day’s a bore, Inside this office from eight to four Nothin’ ever happens my life is pretty bland, Pretending that I’m working, pray I don’t get canned. My Cubicle, My cubicle It’s One of Sixty two It’s my small space in a crowded place Just a six-by-six foot booth And I hate it that’s the truth Well, I give a sigh as the boss walks by, no one ever talks to me or looks me in the eye. And I really should work but instead I just sit here and surf the Internet. In My Cubicle, My cubicle It doesn’t have a view. It’s my small space in a crowded place I sit in solitude. And sometimes I sit here nude. Monday, May 05, 2008Weekend UpdateSooo......how was YOUR weekend??? Friday night was supposed to be bunco night. It was cold and rainy and quite frankly I was tired. I decided not to go. I treated myself instead to a night in my craft room. And, I loved it. Just me and back to back episodes of Desperate Housewives. Of course I had my usual mommy and taxi duties but the rest of the time was my time. So much so that I didn't go to bed until almost midnight. Friday also marked the arrival of Helga - her weekend adventures will be on tomorrow's post. Saturday - for those of you not in the know, was National Scrapbook Day. That's right people, we get a holiday. So it was up early, shower, and don my scrappy t-shirt (one of 5 that I have), and out the door to hit the sales. I had coupons. It was a special day. Not only did I get some goodies for myself but also scored big time for my scrapper pal Whitney! Woot! Also, I went to a "stamper" yard sale and let me tell ya - it was a mad house. You would have thought it was the day after Turkey day there was these women were climbing all over themselves to get stuff. It was cool. I was polite. But I did manage to kick a few that were on their hands and knees digging in boxes and not letting me move. Oopsie - did I kick you? Back home to do some scrapping - its was NSD after all. After once again doing taxi services, the manchild and I decided to go out on a date. We went to see IronMan! LOVED IT!! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT! I lurves me some Robert Downey Jr. anyway....but really lurved him in this one. I hope they make another one. After leaving the movie where we had too much cherry icee and popcorn, we headed over to store to get a few items and manchild HAD to get the Ironman game for Xbox. Its his money so - go for it. Then we were off to go pick up teenage daughter from work. It was an early night. Sunday - L.A.Z.Y. not just a little bit - C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E.L.Y. L.A.Z.Y. All day long. I didn't wash dishes. I only cooked a little (sloppy joes so it wasn't hard). I did nothing except play taxi. Manchild and I did go visit teenage daughter at work to take her some food. While there we treated ourselves to some ice cream goodness (half off cause we have a workin girl now). Oh - toward the end of the day manchild and I did go on a bike ride....but that was it. All I did all day. Today - I am taking the day off so I can wait from 8-4 for the dishwasher repair guy. I hope he comes early so those dishes I didn't wash can go in the washer - see I knew there was a reason for my laziness! Tune in tomorrow and see what Helga has been up to. Friday, May 02, 2008Ya know - every now and then I need to get back to my roots - my redneck ones. You know kick off ya shoes, have bleach blonde hair with 1 inch thick dark roots where it growed out, wear ya over-alls, chew on some hay kinda roots. That's what I aim to do here today. Now this is probably my all time favorite bar song....it just don't come no better than this right here. And while some of you might be drinking coffee or sody pop (cause ya'll read in the mornin') - for my sake - pretend its an ice cold beer, in a frosty long neck bottle.....can ya see it.... Turn up your speakers and hit play....and sing with me...sing it loud and proud and nice and twangy...it just don't get much better than this folks..... Well, it was all That I could do to keep from cryin' Sometimes it seemed so useless to remain But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even called me by my name You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride And you don't have to call me Merle Haggard, anymore Even though you're on my fightin' side CHORUS: And I'll hang around as long as you will let me (the bar sings let me let me let me) And I never minded standin' in the rain But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even called me by my name Well, I've heard my name A few times in your phone book (Hello, Hello) And I've seen it on the signs where I've played But the only time I know I’ll I know I'll hear David Allan Coe Is when Jesus has his final judgement day So I'll hang around as long as you will let me (the bar sings let me let me let me) And I never minded standin' in the rain But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even called me by my name Spoken: Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song And he told me it was the perfect country and western song I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the perfect country and western song because he hadn't said anything at all about Mama, Or trains, Or trucks, Or prison, Or gettin drunk Well he sat down and wrote another verse to the song And he sent it to me, And after reading it, I realized that my friend had written the perfect country & western song And I felt obliged to include it on this album The last verse go like this here: Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison And I went to pick her up in the rain But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck She got runned over by a damned old train And I'll hang around as long as you will let me (the bar sings let me let me let me) And I never minded standin' in the rain ooohhhh but you don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even called me Well I wonder why you don't call me Why don't you ever call me by my name Labels: Happy, Memories, Random Thursday, May 01, 2008I wanna wear my flip flops
