Thursday, May 31, 2007Just a few PSA'sTo the old lady in the turning lane next to me: Honey, I know you are slightly on the elderly side (but this really goes to anyone that does this) so you have been driving long enough to know the rules of the road. When there are two turning lanes and you are in one and I am in the other beside you and we get the green light, that means you turn into YOUR lane and don't think that you can just go where you want to go. You and your big cadillac almost creamed me and my car and ummm yeah that was me laying on the horn honey. If you can't follow the rules of the road, don't drive mmmmkay? To the fellow Moms (and Dads) at Karate: Space and seating is limited. It is a small area. IF you are going to bring your other children to watch (or run around like the little undisciplined wild things they are) while your other child practices, don't let them use the 3 seats beside you as their own personal play area. There are those of us that would like to sit down and watch our child become the next Chuck Norris mmmmkay? To the employees at Michaels: I have worked retail and I understand you have a job to do. I also understand that part of that job includes restocking the shelves BUT that doesn't include completely blocking off the aisle to make it completely impossible to navigate around your empty boxes. Have a little courtesy to your customers mmmmkay? That's it. That's all I got. And NO I am not all cranky today. I am actually in a really good mood cause I keep thinking about the man child singing a little FOB while in the shower and I giggle every time. Just totally cracks me up. Cheeky - who is gonna sing with the man child this morning.....a little FOB - Thnks fr th Mmrs (Thanks for the Memories) I'm gonna make you bend and break Say a prayer, but let the good times roll In case God doesn't show (let the good times roll, let the good times roll) And I want these words to make things right But it's the wrongs that makes the words come to life "Who does he think he is" If that's the worst you've got better put your fingers back to the keys One night and one more time Thanks for the memories Even though they weren't so great He tastes like you only sweeter One night yeah and one more time Thanks for the memories Thanks for the memories See He tastes like you only sweeter ohhhhhh I'm looking forward to the future But my eyesight is going bad And this crystal ball Is always cloudy except for (except for) When you look into the past (look into the past) One night stand One night stand, OH! One night and one more time Thanks for the memories Even though they weren't so great He tastes like you only sweeter One night yeah one more time Thanks for the memories Thanks for the memories See he tastes like you only sweeter They say I only think in the form of Crunching numbers in hotel rooms Collecting page six lovers Get me out of my mind Gets you out of those clothes I'm a liner away from Getting you into the mood (wa-ooooohhh) One night and one more time Thanks for the memories Even though they weren't so great He tastes like you only sweeter One night yeah one more time Thanks for the memories Thanks for the memories See he tastes like you only sweeter One night and one more time Thanks for the memories Even though they weren't so great He tastes like you only sweeter One night yeah one more time Thanks for the memories Thanks for the memories See he tastes like you only sweeter Wednesday, May 30, 2007Baby he was born to run....See this face....... This is the face of a little runaway. He can't help himself. He doesn't dart out of open doors. No, he waits. He waits until he sees a door that has been left slightly ajar and sneaks out. OR like he did last night, he sees a screen door, opens it himself (he is crafty like that) just enough to squeeze through and then takes a little walk on the wild side. Now, what does this little man do when he finally has freedom? He goes down the steps on the back deck to the sliding door on the 3rd level and proceeds to scream until someone (me) comes back from taking man child to soccer practice (yeah, I am a soccer mom now) and hears him to let him in. Where was teenage daughter during all of this? Well she was down in her bedroom (on the fourth floor in another dimension) doing what teenage girls do - most likely talking on the phone with her BFF. I don't know how long he was out there. Soccer practice is an hour. Luckily, he didn't go very far. This cat is too smart (or stupid depending on how you look at it) for his own good. He is a house kitty and trips outside just aren't smart. On a sweeter note. I went yesterday to get a massage on my knee (yeah that was it, the rest of the body was just a bonus) because it has been acting up again. When I got home the kids were already home from school and what did I see? The man child had brought me a bouquet of flowers. Not dandelions that he picked on the way home. REAL flowers. I guess he ordered them from school at some point. It was a really sweet surprise (because I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting flowers) and he was quite pleased with himself too. I would have taken a picture but Mr. Cheeky has the camera in Germany this week. Maybe I can borrow teenage daughters camera...... Cheeky - in honor of Sylvester and his wild streak is singing ..... In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines Sprung from cages out on highway 9, Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin' out over the line Baby this town rips the bones from your back It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap We gotta get out while we're young 'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend I want to guard your dreams and visions Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims and strap your hands across my engines Together we could break this trap We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back Will you walk with me out on the wire 'Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider But I gotta find out how it feels I want to know if love is wild girl I want to know if love is real Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard The girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors And the boys try to look so hard The amusement park rises bold and stark Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist I wanna die with you Wendy on the streets tonight In an everlasting kiss The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive Everybody's out on the run tonight but there's no place left to hide Together Wendy we'll live with the sadness I'll love you with all the madness in my soul Someday girl I don't know when we're gonna get to that place Where we really want to go and we'll walk in the sun But till then tramps like us baby we were born to run Tuesday, May 29, 2007Weekend UpdateWhat a great weekend. Lots of fun and food! OMG, once again the theme here (say it with me...) "I ate waaaaay too much!". We got to Lake Independence late afternoon on Friday. Our friends were already there and set up. Teenage Daughter brought along 2 of her friends and they were responsible for setting up their own tent. They actually did a really good job. I was impressed. Friday we just sorta hung out and chilled by the camp site. We were a little concerned because man child had been having a fever off and on since Thursday (he stayed out of school Thursday and Friday). He was a little warm and not himself Friday night so we gave him meds and sent him to bed early. He woke up fine the next day and was good the rest of the weekend. Saturday was pretty good weather wise during the day. It was overcast and we had expected to get some rain so after breakfast we prepped everything for rain. Moved things inside. Put an extra tarp over the tent. We have an older tent and I am not convinced that it is rain proof anymore so better to be safe than sorry right? Anyway, it didn't rain and the sun came out. Now the wind was pretty fierce. Lots of gusts but we handled it. Then men fold headed out to get the steaks for dinner and was told that a major storm was headed our way. The wind had picked up (and it was already really gusty). They get back and we prepare for what has now been called "hurricane Julio". We didn't want to crank up the grill since we were about to get hammered so we sat in the screen tent and goofed on each other and I had my first taste of pickled herring. Ummm it has to be an acquired taste. Wasn't disgusting but it wasn't great either. Not sure that is something I want to "acquire". After lots of wind and a major drop in temperature (obviously the front came through), the skies started to clear (without rain) and we started the grill. Now, the temp had dropped but the wind did NOT let up. Can we say "chilly"? It was even too much to be sitting by the campfire so after a late dinner and a hot shower it was time to snooze. Ummm it was cold ya'll. I was wearing a shirt, sweatshirt, and pants and was still COLD!!! Sunday morning, the wind had died down but it was still way chilly. But the day turned out to be absolutely PERFECT! Went to the pier with the kids, Mr. Cheeky and John to fish. After lunch laid in the sun a little while Mr. Cheeky and the man child rode the bike trail. Just a GREAT GREAT day. Suzie joined us late in the evening and brought food - YEAH!!! We grilled again and then headed down to the pier to watch the sunset - and yeah NOBODY brought a camera - DUH! Well Shanny did when she joined us later but she came AFTER the sunset so there wasn't much we could do about that. Monday - time to pack it all up and guess what - here comes the rain! Just like a 2 minute shower but enough to make us worry for a minute. Got everything packed up and then everyone headed out for one more ride on the boat. I headed home. I was whipped plus, I had been battling a headache since the evening before so I just headed on home. Also, I needed to start the massive amounts of laundry. It had to be done on Monday and I didn't want to be up all night doing it. Why did I have to do it righ away? Because Mr. Cheeky is headed to Germany - today - as a matter of fact I just dropped him off this morning. And he is on a plane as I type. Lots of pictures to scrap (I will be loading up flickr later today) and stories to get down on paper so we don't forget them. What did I learn from this trip? I learned that when she needs to be, teenage daughter can take care of things herself (i.e. putting up her own tent etc.). I learned that the man child is really funny. I mean funny ya'll. He is much more quick witted that previously given credit for. I learned that even though I have a really good air mattress, that sleeping on it for days, in the cold, is not really good on the back. I learned that when camping in MN, be prepared for all kinds of weather developments (this time last year we were dying in the 94 degree heat). Cheeky - who wants to know - what did you do over the long weekend? Friday, May 25, 2007Going TechlessI wonder if its anything like going commando? This weekend we are headed to the lake for a little camping. In a tent! Yeah, this girl can rough it. So starting this afternoon and going through Monday afternoon, I will be without technology. No computers, no cell phones, nada. I am already starting to feel the withdrawals...hahaha! The weather will be perfect (well sorta). Low 70's in the day, 50's in the night - great tent camping weather. There will be rain on Saturday. But that is sort of part of the fun isn't it? So do you have any plans for the weekend? Cheeky who is singing a little Loverboy...... Everyone's watchin' to see what you will do Everyone's lookin' at you, Oh Everyone's wonderin' will you come out tonight Everyone's tryin' to get it right, get it right Everybody's workin' for the weekend Everybody wants a new romance Everybody's goin' off the deep end Everybody needs a second chance, Oh You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start you wanna be in the show c'mon baby let's go Everyone's lookin' to see if it was you Everyone wants you to come through Everyone's hopin' it'll all work out Everyone's waiting to hold you out Everybody's workin' for the weekend Everybody wants a new romance, hey yeah Everybody's goin' off the deep end Everybody needs a second chance, Oh You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start you wanna be in the show c'mon baby let's go Hey You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start you wanna be in the show c'mon baby let's go You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start you wanna be in the show c'mon baby let's go Wednesday, May 23, 2007Ya'll be smart and all.....I have a delima. We are going camping this weekend and have meals planned for all but one night. Friday - its burgers and dogs. Saturday - honkers and baked baby red taters - yummy. Sunday?????? We dunno. So my blogger friends, name a quick, tasty and easy camping meal. We are already having sammiches for the lunch times sooooo gimme some ideas for dinner on Sunday. Now I have to apologize for the wording and typing errors in this post. I am in the loopy phase of ambien you know the time when I watch tv and everything I see is double and laugh at my family members cause they have 2 noses and 4 eyes. The basic euphoria before the amnesia kicks in and when Mr. Cheeky finds his euphoria....hehe cause Ummmm I don't remember anything at all that happens during this time and I get asked questions the next day about how "yeah Cheeky we need to do THAT one AGAIN"....yes read into what you want to in here. I am clueless and only Mr. Cheeky knows for sure and will often look at me and giggle for days. So back to the topic - camping meal for Sunday? any suggestion??? Cheeky - who needs to finish this up before the amnesia kicks in and I forget to post it.... Well here we are again with another strange dream brought to you by the twisted brain that belongs to Cheeky. So, I am at the beach on a pier with 2 other older couples. They are purchasing the beach house beside the pier. During our conversation I say to them, "Oh I used to own that house - well several years ago". And we chat about it. Fast forward. I am swimming in the ocean and decided to come in. I am sorta doing a crawling thing in the water when all of a sudden both of my hands are bound - by two very angry crabs. I can feel the pain and the pressure from them holding on to my hands very tightly. I yell for someone to come help me. After several minutes, I manage to shake the right one loose and see the cut marks on my hands. I am prying and pulling at the left one but he has a serious death grip on my hand. He slips and on the way down he clips the inside of my elbow cutting the artery. Next thing I know I am in a rental shop (where they rent out the coolest gas grills I have ever seen) and bleeding everywhere. I think that I will be ok when all of a sudden the cut from the elbow starts spewing (you know like in those skits from Mad TV - like all ridiculous and fake). The dude behind the counter calls for help. So, the little medic dude comes and he starts slapping all of my cuts and asking - "does this hurt?". I get stitched. Fast forward, as I am walking back to the pier, I come across a biker wedding. Then I wake up. Weird. It makes absolutely NO SENSE. I have been having really strange dreams involving people I know or used to know over the last few weeks but this one was just bizarre. NO, I wasn't taking sleeping meds. NO, I wasn't drinking. Could have been the green olives I ate before bed though...... Labels: dreams Monday, May 21, 2007Can I just share?I completely enjoyed last night's Family Guy episode with all the 80's references. I was having a blast watching it and trying to find all those little things (you know the ones that you don't notice until you watch it the second or third time? I am a little disappointed that according to my site meter I have had well over 300 visitors to my 300 things post.....but only 20 comments. Had a very busy weekend. Saturday my girl Suzoo and I headed out to the Rubberstamping/Scrapbook Expo at the fairgrounds. Ya'll I was on serious overload. It was a really really great show. I bought waaaay too much stuff (but isn't that always the case?). After spending all day there walking around and standing my knee was killing me (its been acting up again - time for another really good massage). Got home and took a little nappy and then headed out to a friends house for a cookout. Good food. Good people. Good games. Mr. Cheeky and the man child played ladder ball for a while and then Mr. Cheeky, I, the teenage daughter and "L" played Foosball. I need a Foosball table. We had a great time. Came home and fell asleep watching Mad TV. I was worn out. Sunday: Woke up earlier than I wanted. Got up and started playing with my new toys that I bought at the Expo. During breakfast, Mr. Cheeky turned on the "We are the 80's" show on the VH1 Classic channel and ya'll, I was lovin every single minute of it. Pretty much spent the entire day down in my little room. Some of my new designs are really really nice and really really time consuming and remind me that I am getting OLD! After spending so much time with an exacto blade and cutting out very fine detailed items, my eyes didn't work so good and my hands were aching. I will probably do more of these cards but not in mass like some of my other ones. Shell, I have a few prototypes for ya. I want to do a few more then I will send you the batch to choose the one(s) that you want me to do for you this year. That is about it for the weekend. Nothing really spectacular but I am OK with that. I did make some rockin tater salad and got a ham and OH MY it was good! Cheeky - who is still in her 80's mode from the weekend so she is gonna sing you a little.....Robert Palmer....(and bonus points if you know the movie that this was in......) Your lights are on, but you're not home Your mind is not your own Your heart sweats, your body shakes Another kiss is what it takes You can't sleep, you can't eat There's no doubt, you're in deep Your throat is tight, you can't breathe Another kiss is all you need Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you know you're Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love You see the signs, but you can't read You're runnin' at a different speed You heart beats in double time Another kiss and you'll be mine, a one track mind You can't be saved Oblivion is all you crave If there's some left for you You don't mind if you do Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you know you're Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Your lights are on, but you're not home Your will is not your own You're heart sweats and teeth grind Another kiss and you'll be mine Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you know you're Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Might as well face it, you're addicted to love Thursday, May 17, 2007Its the big 300!!Well you have waited and waited I know ...so its finally here. 300 little known things about yours truly. Now I am not going to repost 100 and 200 so just click on them and read it for yourself mmmmmkay? No, its not cheating....... Ready? Here we go...... 201. I had to go back and read 100 and 200 so I don't repeat myself. 202. I can't believe they killed off Nick on Y&R. 203. Mr. Cheeky laughed at me last night when I told him that I almost cried when Michael told Phyllis that Nick was dead (oh no you ain't laughin at me to are ya?). 204. I need to start watching what I eat again. I am pushing maximum density. 205. I think everyone should get massages and facials on a regular basis. 206. I like my penmanship (handwriting for you non-edumacated peeps out there) - it changes based on my mood (see told ya I was Sybil - you didn't believe me did ya?). 207. I am good at forging others handwriting. I won't tell you how I know. I just do so let's just leave it at that shall we. 208. I don't encourage the teenage daughter to lie but I have told her that if she is ever in a sticky situation she needs to get out of with her friends and she still needs to save face then she can use me as the excuse as to "why" she can't "go here" or "do that" and make me the bad guy. 209. I really like teenage daughter's friend "L" (I gotta get her a nickname for here) but I still really really miss "A" from SC. 210. I went to my first scrapbook convention this year. I am already registered for two more in the next couple of months. 211. Mr. Cheeky is better at decorating than I am - seriously, I suck at it which is weird since I am crafty. 212. I am on a serious flamingo kick right now. Just love them! 213. There is a solution for my "issues" that require meds and then require more meds to counteract the effects of the first meds (did ya follow that?). But it involves surgery. I have to decide at some point but there is no hurry. 214. I really like actors/actresses that don't take themselves too seriously - an example would be William Shatner - he just cracks me right up. 215. I have kept several of my "resolutions" this year. The others? Well, we won't talk about those LOL. 216. The person I see in the mirror is not the same person that shows up in photos. Must be that Sybil thing again. 217. I get nose bleeds for no reason and at any time. And its only on the left side. 218. I AM the Jeopardy champion! (well at least in my own mind and that is really all that counts right?) Patti wants to know: What is the best thing about living in MN? 219. All the scrapbooking places - it feeds my addiction. What is the worst thing about living in MN? 220. Ummm its cold - helloooooooo (hehe) Jenie wants to know: What did Cheeky want to be all growed up? 221. Well first of all, Cheeky still hasn't grown up (hehe). At first I wanted to be a lawyer but realized after watching those legal dramas on TV that I could never see a witness cry on the stand - I would cry right along with them and umm that wouldn't be good. Then I wanted to be a dermatologist but my guidance counselor talked me out of it. I still kinda want to do it though. If I could live anywhere - where would it be? 222. As of now, Charleston BUT I haven't visited everywhere yet so that answer is based on my experiences so far. So I reserve the right to change this answer at any given time. If I could change one thing right now what would it be? 223. Oh that's easy.....I would get rid of this big ol bootay (and the thighs that go with it). You know as a kid you pick out your future kids names. Did I have names picked out? 224. Yes, I did. What were they? 225. For a girl I wanted Alexis (I was a Dynasty fan...LOL), I was undecided on a boys name. Did I use them? 226. No, I didn't. Hubs didn't like the name Alexis when the teenage daughter was born but he came around and then if man child was a girl he wanted to use it. Am I still coming to Indy for the race in June? 227. Oh yeah Baby! And if your hubs is willing I am bunking with you girl! Wes wants to know: Who was I in a past life? 228. Hmmmm good question, and I am sure that there are sooooo many (haha) so I will go with just one this time....Billie Holliday - that girl (oh wait that would be I) had some serious pipes! Ok back to my list (more questions/answers to come). 229. I still think Rob Lowe is a hottie! 230. I really want some of my blogger buddies to come and visit me at Chez Cheeky. 231. I miss playing board games. I should really do it more. Man child is a little young for some of them and well teenage daughter is just too busy being a teenager. 232. I have been feeling domestic lately AND what is worse is that I have been acting on it (gasp! I know....). I am not sure what is causing this behavior but ummmm we must find a cure. 233. I feel bad sometimes (only sometimes so don't get any ideas teenage daughter) for making my kids clean their room when #1 I hated doing it as a kid and #2 I still do. 234. Ok ya'll might want to sit down for this one.....for the first time EVER I am a little apprehensive about buying the new Bon Jovi album. I hear its a country album. I will buy it but I am not sure what to expect. Shocking I know. Teenage Daughter wants to know: How many pieces of gum can you fit in your mouth at one time? 235. Hmmm you have to be a little more specific here. I have a big ol mouth and you know this, BUT it depends on the brand of gum. If its something like HubbaBubba then the amount would be significantly less than if it were say ummm Trident. I think this is an experiment we need to do on one of those days when we are trapped inside in the winter. Do you like toilet paper with designs or not? (see there we go again someone in the house talking about the potty) 236. I am picky about my toilet paper. I will buy the cheaper brand on some things I use around the house but when it comes to my toilet paper it has to be the good stuff. Not really big on the design thing though BUT I do like designs on my paper towels in the kitchen. If I let you get a tattoo can I get my belly button pierced? 237. First of all, don't you just love the way she said "if I let you"....yep that's my girl. Tell you what, IF I decide to get a tat, then sure I will let you get your belly button pierced. (all you mom's out there can sooooo read into what is going on with this answer LOL). Will you buy me a Llama? 238. Sure. What is the worst thing you did in highschool and would I yell at my kids if they did the same thing? 239. This is such a loaded question. I didn't do anything bad in highschool. That would be your Aunt D! (hehe) I was the good one. So for anything that I "may" have done that could be considered "questionable" - I am pleading the fifth (and umm Kelly you can just keep yours shut too mmmkay?)! And for the yelling at my kids part of the question, well duh, that is one of the fun things about being a parent LMAO! OK back to the list again.... 240. I keep a secret stash of cash so that I can get my fix (read: buy scrapbooking stuff). BUT this secret stash is now empty....Uncle Sam, property taxes, insurance premiums (house, car, boat, etc), and car tags all being due at the same time took care of that. I was about to start going through withdrawals but that was alleviated with the gift cards I got for Mother's day this week. 241. Mommy K got me an early birthday present and gave it to me in Charleston last week. It was a Spidey Spud! I love it. He is gonna live beside Darth Tater and the Spud Trooper. Still have to get Artoo Potatoo though. 242. I have successfully taught kitty girl how to give ME (and only me) kisses. 243. My favorite set of sheets for my bed are slowly disintegrating. I LOVE these sheets. They were a cheap set I found at Linens and Things and they are the softest things ever (softer than the $300 set I bought once). I am on the lookout for a new set. I bought these so long ago I can't find them anymore. 244. I know "the Secret" 245. I have discovered a new author (Ok new to me). Harlan Coben. I have just read his two most recent books now I am excited that he already has several out and I can read those and not have to wait for a new one (like I am with John Grisham and Dan Brown). 246. I want to learn how to belly dance. 247. I have been contemplating going to school to be an Aesthetician or Massage Therapist. Not that I want to change careers or anything. Just that I want to learn how to do it and do it right. 248. As a kid, my nick name was Pooh Bear. My stocking still has Pooh on it instead of my name. 249. I haven't had a family portrait made since man child was a baby and the only reason we did it then was because it was a fund raiser for the local fire dept. Will (an old highschool buddy) wants to know: What is the first thing you remember from childhood? 250. OK you are gonna laugh, but one of my first memories is of the bathroom when I was about 2. Specifically the toilet seat and the little mark on it. Guess that is why I like potty humor so much. The other is me running from the bathroom to my bedroom nekkid (you know like fresh out of the tub) and Daddy sneakin up behind me to pinch me on the butt. What was my saddest moment? 251. When Dr. Mixon told me that I was most likely going to miscarry my second pregnancy. He was right, I did. Worst food? 252. I am assuming you are looking for what food I hate.....Pop, you wanna answer that one? hehe That would be green beans - can't stand them. Worst date? 253. Hmmm well as you know I dated Mr. Cheeky all through highschool. Sooooo ummmm the worst one......I really don't think there was a really bad one and no I am not trying to cop out. Maybe it was my very first date ever. I don't really want to use names here but since we went to school together....you remember the band teacher from middle school right? My first date was with his son. Favorite Alcoholic Drink? 254. Overall, I would have to say Margaritas. But I get in moods where the drink of the month changes. Worst Alcoholic Drink? 255. Hmmmm dunno. Maybe its all those dark ales that Shell drinks (kidding kidding - girl you know I had to get you for making fun of my beer choice in Houston). OH wait - the Shipyard Ale that Mr. Cheeky brought back from when the USS Maine was commissioned. That was some nasty stuff - the bottle was cool though. Most memorable highschool memory? 256. I guess it would have to be the last band awards program where at the end - in front of everybody....Mr. Cheeky proposed (yes, its on video). My opinion on the Iraqi situation 257. I really don't talk much about politics on my blog. I will say, that my opinion has changed over time as I am sure many others has too. Places I want to visit 258. There are so many. Australia, England, Alaska, the list just goes on and on. Look out cause I may just be coming to visit you in HI - this is your only warning LOL Fantasies that don't include Bon Jovi? 259. Ahhh yes, you do know me well don't you? And since you do you would know that there ain't no such thing! Back to the list.... 260. I can put my hair up with just a pencil (or pen, or orange stick or whatever happens to be lying around) and it looks good. I learned how to do this years ago when I was stuck working in the armpit of America (that would be Newark, NJ). 261. I used to love to help my Grandmaw (that lived in SC) make biscuits when I was a kid. She made the best biscuits ever. 262. My other Granny (that lived in NC) made the worlds best red velvet cake. The last piece I ever ate was one she made. 263. According to the teenage daughter, my potato salad rocks! The Pup wants to know: Pie, Pi, and Pei. What kind of pie will you bake me, how are your math skills, and what's your favorite breed of dog? 264. Cherry pie (is there any other?), I used to so totally rock in math. Went all the way through Trig in school but since having kids, well my brain is just mush. Breed of dog....hmmmm well I do like a cute mutt (Barney and Willie were both mutts) but I also think Bichon Frise (did I spell that right? I am too tired to look it up) are too cute (never owned one though). Call or Text? 265. Both. I like calling and hearing people's voice on the other end but sometimes just sending a little "hi there" text just to make someone smile is cool too. Three things I have not/will not blog about (tease us)? 266. Hmmmm...I try to keep this as PG13 as possible (considering how the teenage daughter and some of her friends read this) so those "adult topics" tend not to get discussed (which is why I didn't answer one of your questions outright but...with that being said - the answer to your omitted question would be the first one, you know what I am talking about). I don't blog about work. I will speak in generalities (like I am in HR/recruiting) but nothing specific about the company or people I work with (even though most of them are really awesome). And usually I stay away from things like religion and politics. I believe what I believe. Others believe what they believe. It doesn't matter if I agree with you or you agree with me. I sing everyday with Cheeky everyday. I am singing alto, what part are you singing? 267. I am singing the lead baby! (yeah like you really thought I would say something different here....hahaha) Suzanna wants to know (I know you asked more but had to narrow it down a bit): What is your most typed blog word? 268. Ohhh that's a good one. Maybe "yeah". Favorite grown up toy? 269. Oh girl you know what that is....my Cricut. If you were a sign, what would your sign read? 270. Slippery when wet! (Hey! get your minds out of the gutter - that is a Bon Jovi reference....geesh bunch of pervs LOL). Most viewed TV show? 271. Well there are several but I have to say at this point CSI (the original Vegas one). OH and can I just share that I wanna know who the miniature killer is AND I soooooo want to be a dead body on that show. How cool would that be? So, if ya'll know anyone that can get me there, hook a Cheeky up would ya. Gabby wants to know: If you could change your name, what would it be? 272. As a kid, I always wanted to be named Amy. But now I like my name so I don't think I would change it. If you could re-live the 80's again would you? and why? 273. Oh yeah baby! I had fun in the 80's. I graduated in 1990 so all my highschool years were in the 80's. I wasn't the most popular or anything but I had friends in various cliques (again sorta supports that whole Sybil thing I have going). First thing you notice about the opposite sex? 274. Sense of humor If your cat's could talk, what would they say about you? 275. Kitty girl would say "I wish this woman would stop telling me to give her kisses, she is starting to get on my last nerve". Sylvester would say "wake up and feed me woman". What would I do if I had $5 Million Dollars? 276. Anything I wanted....LOL But seriously, why don't we have a little experiment - all ya'll pool your money together and give it to me and see what I will do with it....hehe Julie wants to know: If you could go "Back to the Future," where would you go and what time period? You know approximately what years? 20s, 30s,...60s...? 277. Well we all know I am a child of the 80's but I often think that the 50/60's could sorta be fun too - I mean, I already know all the music! What is your favorite song of all time? 278. This is a real tough one for me. If you read this blog at all you know that I do love my music. I think maybe Amazing Grace would be the all time song. Not necessarily with the lyrics but rather played on bagpipes - (no, I am not Irish) but there is just something about that song played that way. Shell wants to know: If you could do anything as a career what would you do? 279. Oh yeah you guessed it, ok well maybe there is two things. One, if I could make a living out of making cards - I would so totally do it (and yes, I have a few designs to show you for this season). The second would be something to do with music. OH Will wanted to know something else (and ummm its late and I don't feel like going back through this post and re-numbering so just deal with it mmmkay?) What is your favorite band instrument? 280. Well you know I am multi-talented (hahaha) but my favorite for playing would be the bass guitar. I was good ya'll - I have rhythm for a white girl! I wanted to be the female version of Flea (from the Red Hott Chili Peppers) but better looking of course. SFG wants to know: Describe your perfect day 281. Hmmmm there are soooooo many....it really is hard to choose just one ya know. I think a day where I am laughing, having fun and just generally loving life (without people getting on my last nerve) that would be a perfect day. "L" - The teenage daughter's friend wants to know: Have you ever mowed your own lawn? 282. Oh yes, I used to be about 15 months preggo (ok it felt like it) with teenage daughter in the hot blazing sun of Charleston pushing a lawn mower cause Mr. Cheeky was out at sea. But I haven't done it since we moved here. What was your first car? 283. My first car was a blue Pontiac T-1000 (Pontiac's version of a Chevette) and it was a stick (straight drive)/manual transmission - whatever you want to call it) AND it didn't have A/C but I loved it! As a child, what was your favorite TV show? 284. Oh that is easy. The Muppets! And yes, I own the first season on DVD. And yes, I still watch it and still love it! What was your all time favorite book? 285. That would be the one that ya'll are reading now - To Kill a Mockingbird. At the grocery store, do you prefer paper or plastic? 286. Actually, I prefer paper but I usually get plastic to re-use around the house. Neither one are very "eco" friendly (see I learned that this week on Ellen - and who says daytime TV wasn't good for you?) Have you ever held a gun? 287. I am from the south honey. Yes, I have held, and aimed and fired a gun. So has your friend teenage daughter. What nail polish color do you prefer? 288. I usually go with a dark burgandy color. The most recent favorite was by OPI several years ago call "SoHo Nice to Meet You". I still have some left but you can't buy it anymore I don't think. What was the first concert you ever went to? 289. Well, its not like you would know them cause you are all young and stuff but the first concert ever was Sha-na-na and Dr. Hook was the opener! If you were a bug, what kind of bug would you be? 290. A black widow spider. Back to my list...... 291. I like sleeping with the windows open. I like the fresh air in the house. 292. The first time I ever went to the circus I was in the 6th grade. 293. I have window rattling burps! I am very proud of them. 294. I only eat strawberry toaster strudels and I like to put them in the microwave instead of the toaster (but becareful anything over 30 seconds and they might explode - don't ask me how I know - I just do). 295. I still own my very first microwave. It is huge and I love it and it still works (it currently resides in my storage room since this house is equipped with a microwave over the stove) 296. I do NOT have a green thumb where house plants and flowers are concerned - that would belong to Mr. Cheeky. 297. Growing up, my BFF's name was Gwen - well BFF until school started anyway LOL. I wonder what she is doing now? 298. I usually switch between channels for my local news but I prefer watching NBC for my national news. 299. I sometimes wear my hair in pigtails - as an adult (yeah, just shut it ok - I am getting desperate here). 300. When I am at home during the day working, I turn up the radio and sing, loud, really loud and ummmm I dance too (you know how you used to do as a kid and would get embarrassed if anyone ever saw you - yeah, that's me). Ok ya'll there you have it.....my 300 things post! Now hook a sista up and give me a little love in my comments - seriously I wanna see how many I can get - so give me a little shout out on your blogs as well to help send people my way - just for this one event....please??.....pretty please???? OK tell you what, IF you do, then I will post a nekkid pic of me at the end of this post (that got your attention didn't it?...hehe) Whew that took a lot out of me so you are only gonna get a short recap of the concert last night.....IT SO ROCKED! It was the Honda Civic Tour and there were several bands playing. We got there at 6 just as the first band took the stage (Cobra Starship) - they weren't bad at all. Then there was Paul Wall - dude the place was pumpin! Up next was "The Academy Is..." again I was pleasantly surprised. Then there was +44 (Plus 44)with Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus from Blink182 - another good performance. Then Fall Out Boy took the stage and it was AWESOME! I am soooo glad I took teenage daughter to see this show. Fall Out Boy is coming back again in the fall - we might have to go....maybe.....we will see..... Cobra Starship, Paul Wall, and The Academy Is....signed autographs and such. Teenage daughter had her pic made with Cobra Starship and got her beater shirt signed by them and Paul Wall. I will post the pics and the little video after the 300 post....I am toooo tired and this is toooo long to try and do it now..... Now for all of you that gave me a shout out on your blogs to help me generate a little traffic - as I promised - here is a nekkid picture of yours truly..... Hey! I didn't say it was a recent one - seriously, get your minds out of the gutter - pervs! Wednesday, May 16, 2007#299 The Good MomThat would be ME! Tonight I am taking the teenage daughter and her friend to the FallOut Boy concert at the Target Center. I know I know, I am so cool (Kelly I know you are reading this, you lurker, so just shut it mmmmmkay?). The show starts at 6 and there are several bands playing so I am thinking its gonna be a late night for this Cheeky. I guess maybe I shouldn't have gotten up so early this morning because I will be paying for it tonight (OMG - did I say that? I must be getting OLD or something.....nah! - Kelly, I mean it....shut it!). In the meantime be sure to tune it tomorrow as I celebrate post #300!! Woot! And I will be answering your questions and will give you 300 things. Its been a little tough but hopefully you will learn something new about yours truly. So here is your final chance lurkers - ASK! Oh and if you are asking what you can get me to help me celebrate....(you know you want to) just leave me a comment (and tell two friends, and have them tell two friends, and they can tell two friends and so on and so on....remember that commercial?). I know its a stretch but wouldn't getting 300 comments on the 300th post be so cool? Crap, I would be happy with 100 but why limit myself. Oh and just so you know - I am in a Sassay mood today so I can not be held responsible for the comments I leave....nope not responsible at all. Cheeky who needs some java and that reminds her of a little ditty by my girl Dolly and while yes, I work from home (I know you are jealous) and I do so love the company I work for, I think this song sorta fits the morning..... Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen Pour myself a cup of ambition Yawnin', stretchin', try to come to life Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin' Out on the streets the traffic starts jumpin' And folks like me on the job from nine to five Workin' nine to five What a way to make a livin' Barely gettin' by It's all takin' and no givin' They just use your mind And they never give you credit It's enough to drive you Crazy if you let it Tuesday, May 15, 2007#298 - Where in the World is ....Mrs. Cheeky?Yes, I know I know. Its been a week since my last post. I have received word that there are those that are going through Cheeky withdrawals (Jen, Shell....yep calling you out) and for that I apologize (yeah, right, uh huh hehe). I have been traveling once again and spent all of last week in Charleston and was there for the first named storm of the season. Actually, it occured before the hurricane season officially starts which is June 1. But you know me and storms. It wasn't really anything to write home about but it still made me happy. Yeah, I know, it doesn't take much huh? While I was there the theme once again was....say it with me now..."Man, I ate waaaaay too much!". I also got to spend some time with Mommy K and baby Duncan and got lots of Duncan kisses. On the way home, the pilot took the short cut* so it wasn't so bad. Got home at a decent hour and felt all refreshed. Did a few things around the house and went to see Delta Farce at the movies. I have to say there are some really good one liners in there. I enjoyed it - but then again I am a redneck so it was right up my alley. Saturday night, we had big ol honkers on the grill (that would be steaks for the normal person - honkers at chez Cheeky). After dinner, Mr. Cheeky and I watched the last installment of X-men on cable and promptly fell asleep. Me on one sofa, him on the other - yeah we are wild like that. Sunday - Ahhhh Mother's Day! I got give cards to Michaels and Archivers (and since I am a scrapbook junkie - I was very pleased). Since I got the cards I just HAD to go shop. So we had a lazy morning and headed out to Coon Rapids for the day for shopping and then we had Mexican food for lunch - YUM! Came home and went down to "my room" to play with my toys (read: scrapbook stuff). Then of course I had to watch the season finale of Survivor. I hate that Yau-man didn't win but I am glad it was Earl instead of any of the other two that were left. Overall it was a really good season. I am interested now in this new Pirate thing they are going to start in a few weeks. Might be interesting. So yeah, that is about it from Chez Cheeky. Nothing really exciting but sometimes just everyday kinda stuff is good - ya know what I mean? Big shout out to Katie - thanks girl for the Valley Fair coupons - we so have to get together and hang out soon. *Short cut - when traveling with the kids, especially in the car, they would always fall asleep and tend to wake up just before we got to where we were going. They thought it was amazing that it didn't take very long at all. So we would say "that's because we took a short cut while you were asleep". When the kids were little they of course believed it but the rule was you had to sleep before we could take the short cut. Yeah, I like messing with their heads....keeps life fun. Monday, May 07, 2007#297 - The Dynamic DuoAfter a very eventful weekend of traveling (more on that later), I finally got to meet Patti! We had a great time. I picked her up and the first thing I did was roll up to her and roll down my window and say "hey baby you wanna date?" HAHA Yep, that got her smiling right from the start. We had a late lunch at Reds and it was yummy, the drinks were yummy, and the company was FABULOUS! I could so see us hanging out and and goofing off on a regular basis if we lived closer to each other! She has the pics but her camera is not cooperating this morning sooooo I guess we will just have to wait. I am working this week so my posts will most likely be scattered and short - Don't forget only 2 more before the big 300 so don't forget to send me your questions! Wednesday, May 02, 2007#296 She's a Home Run Hitter....Yeah, she looks all cute and dainty but this girl can hit a ball - don't let those skinny arms fool ya. OH and yesterday she got hit just above the ankle with a fast pitch. She walked it off, took her base and the coach was like "Oh your so girly I thought you would be crying because of that" - yeah - guess she showed you coach! I didn't take a pic of the bruise yet - but I will. Now don't forget this is post 296 - You know you wanna ask me something so you better hurry up before 300 gets here if you want me to answer........ Labels: Teenage Daughter Tuesday, May 01, 2007#295 - and then there were fourOK first - this is post # 295. I think I have mentioned before that for my 300th post I am going to put up 300 things about me (to keep in tradition of 100 & 200). You may have seen the little meme running around where you interview another blogger. Speckled Pup has interviewed me and I will be putting up my answers as a part of my 300 post. So here is your chance fellow bloggers, internets and lurkers (yeah I see you)....what do you want to know? Come on - don't be shy...haha....ok now on with post.... See this????? This was taken just a few minutes ago. This is what I get for loving up on a visiting kitty. Let me explain. I am kitty sitting again this week so instead of 2 there are now 4 grown kitties in my house. Sylvester was fine. He remembered his BFF Taz. It was cool. Then Kitty Girl....poor thing was soooo stressed out. Then man child threw a toy into the mix and it was on. Kitties screamin, fur flying, teenage daughter and Mr. Cheeky laughing. Poor kitty girl got cornered and literally crapped her pants! Yep, laid her a big ol sting pickle right there on the floor. So, after that - we seperated them again. Well, all night long they screamed at each other through the doors. Nobody got sleep except man child - we are gonna be a pleasant bunch to be around today. Anyway, I was holding Taz (the visiting male kitty) and he was loving up on me. Rolling in my hair (he has a hair fetish). Purring. It was a real love fest. Then out of the corner of his eye he saw his sister Sugar and got all tense (I guess he thought it was one of my kitties) and dug in his back claws....INTO.MY.CHEST. Yeah, that felt good. They have been here before. Remember the first visit?? Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos And this was the second.... Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos All I ask is to just get through this week...... Cheeky - who said - yeah those are little pink moose in scarves on my nitey shirt. Wanna make something of it? Huh? Do ya? I will make my kittis pounce on ya.... Labels: Kitty
