Oh Yeah - its my Birfday!

It's 6:30am and today I am 36! Yep, that's right - I am older than dirt but I don't care - you just wish you looked this good at 36! Bwhahahaha!. I have been up for about an hour and already my day has been one smile moment after another. For starters, I wake up and decide that I just can't lay there anymore cause I have to go potty really really bad (don't ya hate that - you wanna stay in bed but your bladder has a different idea?) and when I do, I see a bouquet of flowers and a card from.....the Teenage Daughter waiting for me on the counter in the bathroom. She went after work to get them - wasn't that nice of her? And the card - seriously, the card was made with me in mind. It was one of those singing cards that had a strutting blinged out flamingo on it. It moved when you moved the card. I mean really - wasn't that made just for me?

Then I start checking email and the message board over at AMR and I feel so blessed to have so many people thinking of me and sending me birfday wishes. I do have some of the best blogger and MB buds a girl could ever hope for.

Also today, I start my new job! Sweet! I am going in the office a couple of hours each day this week just to learn their systems. After that, I will be working from home. Today I have to get my laptop configured for my email and VPN.

Now, on to the vacation recap. OH.MY.GOODNESS.....I rode the world's fastest and tallest roller coaster and while I was skeered at first - it was the bestest ride evah!!! The ride is called the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. You go from zero to 120mph in less that 4 seconds. And then...when you think you can't pee your pants anymore....you shoot strait up at a 90 degree angle and go 420 feet straight in the air do a little turn and then come straight down. It was incredible! Well worth driving 12 hours just for that one ride. Just pee before you get on it (no I didn't pee my pants - just giving you some advice...geesh). I have to say that Cedar Point lives up to its reputation as being one of the best roller coaster places in the world. Far superior to Six Flags (we went there on Friday). The water park was awesome too.

I think we picked the perfect week to go. It was after the 4th and in the middle of the week so the crowds were gone for the most part. The longest I stood in line for any one ride was about 30-40 mins and that was for the Dragster. The weather was overall really good - except getting drenched the first day with a storm that came through. The light show at the end of the night was a little hokey but that's ok....we went for the rides, not the show. We got home Saturday afternoon and was just completely worn out. I will have to give a more detailed recap later this week as there are so many things and I don't want to make this too long.

Cheeky - who is gonna go put on her walking shoes and go for a little morning stroll and sing in the neighborhood (hey - I have to live up to my crazy neighbor reputation right?).

Weekend Update - with your hostess - Cheeky

BUT....before I begin with the weekend update.....stop what you are doing....and wish this man right here.....see this one in the pic (the man not the goat)....

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Yes, today is Mr. Cheeky's birthday! We love ya honey, and hope to make today very special for ya.

Now on to the update.

Friday, Mr. Cheeky came home, it was the start of the birthday weekend and it was wang and trivia night. I do so heart me some wangs and they did not disappoint. They did however, forget to bring me my little hamburger bites appetizer. It was ok - I didn't need the extra calories anyway. We got home and decided to watch the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Actually, the plan was to watch all the Indiana Jones movies in preparation for the new one coming out soon. At any rate, we didn't make it till the end of the movie. We all fell asleep (yes, we are really a bunch of party animals here at Chez Cheeky).

Saturday it was our usual, hockey practice, run errands, etc kind of day. I made some killer shrimp and scallops for dinner (and this time I didn't use cheyenne pepper instead of paprika - I read the bottle). It was FABULOUS!! Then it was time to play a little rock band and guitar hero before Mad TV came on. It was mostly me and Mr. Cheeky playing. Teenage daughter and her frient L came down for a few songs but that was about it.

Sunday, it was a lazy morning. Mr. Cheeky had to do a little work (which really stinks but at least he was home). He made his customary weekend breakfast of hashbrowns and bacon (YUM). I made brownies for Mr. Cheeky's b-day at his request and we kinda goofed around until it was time for manchild's hockey jamboree. Two and half hours of games and then it was trophy time. He also received a little extra gift from the high school hockey team coach for manchild's participation in carrying the flag for one of their games. It was a framed pic of the team and they all signed it. I thought that was pretty nice.

After the game we headed over to a local pizza joint for a little party. Next weekend is out last hockey weekend and its out of town and so they wanted to do a little something incase there are those (like us and others) that are not going to stay the night. We had a nice time.

When we got home we watched the last part of the race (man I love nascar) while we were playing a board game with manchild. Teenage daughter decided to sit this one out - so she got to fold laundry instead (what a trade off).

So that is what happened in our neck of the woods....what did you do?

Just a couple of things....

First and Foremost - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the woman that birthed the Cheeky! Give her some love ya'll. Last year her birthday was on Thursday and I did a Thursday Thirteen tribute to her. You can see thatHERE .

Next - Last night, the manchild had his moment of glory at the highschool hockey game. He was the flag carrier. He was so proud. I love how the announcer did his name, he skates around and then goes "and the rest of the Royals" - like manchild was the prime one. Check it out:

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books

I also got my first glimpse of the friend that is a boy (hence forth known as hockey boy). Of course I didn't get to get a good look cause he plays hockey and well the helmet can distract the view.

I love a rainy night......OR doncha just love email

First and foremost let me send a SHOUT OUT to my BIL Jeffro (ok so its just Jeff) cause its his BIRTHDAY!!!!!! WOOOT!!!! Your package is in the mail Uncle Paddytale***

OK so last night, in the middle of the FINAL episode of Hell's Kitchen...our local weather guy....Ian on Fox news, kept breaking in to tell us "the rains are a comin'....the rains are a comin'" (OK so it was a tornado warning....same thing). So, Mr. Cheeky and I decided that we were gonna have a little fun. We went on the news channel page and started sending some email.....cause you know its all anonymous and stuff...about how we were a little peeved that they interupted Rock's celebration to show me its gonna rain (but we made it much funnier you know cause its all anonymous and stuff)........HELLO...I have a window...I see the sky lit up like the freakin fourth of July (actually it was a good show, I sorta liked it) I know its gonna rain, I see the tree bent over in the front yard so yeah, I know the winds are a blowin.....you don't have to interrupt Hell's Kitchen to tell me what my own two eyes see. It was funny ya'll we were sending emails and being all redneck and stupid and laughing till we almost cried. Immature? ABSOLUTELY!!! Fun? OH you have NO IDEA. We even had a weather chick 1/4 mile from the house - we could almost see her (but of course a house was in the way). Yeah, we get our kicks from the stupidest of things.....actually. You know, when you submit your phone number for the local weatherman to call you - you have reached a plateau of redneckness that most only hope they will obtain. Wanna see an example of just ONE of the messages we sent.....

For your reading enjoyment:

ian.... dude.... you really need to call me.... 763******* (in the original of course the number was real) now dont sell my number and dont bother my wife.. if she answers just hang up (trust me you don't want to deal with her after the crappy day she has had). so call me and we will talk.....you my buddy and all but come on call me.. or something... you are very optimistic... please respond to my email so i can contact you directly .... here it is... ***@*** (yeah he put in our real email).... i'm in (our town)..... i promise i'm not drinking.. tonight........bye

i had a very crappy day until now(and for my wife - hers was even worse.... i know it is very sad... that a bad weather night entertains me and the missus and we know round 2 is going nail us... but...... what can i say.. you guys are the best.. if you want to send a news crew to interview me i'll do it ... just dont bother my wife... she aint from around here and she won't like it.......... just trust me.... i only gots one tooffs and its gold so make sure you can focus real good .... ok i'm done..... its up too you now.

****The name Uncle Paddytale comes from the teenage daughter. We were living in GA at the time and she was really young. My sister and her hubs (Jeff) came down for a visit and was taking the daughter out for dairy queen. It was chilly and I told her to wear a jacket, she didn't want to, I made her, she wasn't happy. So off she and Jeff go to the DQ. When they get back he tells how she didn't want to wear her jacket home. And so the daughter lovingly calls him Uncle Tattletale BUT she couldn't clearly say "tattletale" and it came out "Paddytale" and that is what he has been called ever since....hehe

Such a poser...

Did you notice my comments from yesterday? Did ya? Well go take a look, I will wait go look. Did ya see it? The teenage daughter thinks she is gonna get a birthday MONTH because I did.

Such.a.poser! Well I guess I do lead by example...hehe.

The news has been filled with coverage of the bridge collapse. Enough already. Its a tragedy. Its horrible. I understand that. And for those that have lost loved ones I know its terrible but do we have to say the bridge fell 50 different ways and then repeat it 100 times through out the day? If you have something new then by all means report it but enough is enough already. I don't mean to sound unsympathetic but I don't understand the need to keep repeating ALL.DAY.LONG. ok enough of that... I know that really sounds horrible doesn't it? I don't mean for it to. I think all the effort showing people suffering could be turned to all the good people have done and showing ways others can help.

Had a very busy day yesterday and another one headed my way today. It may take me a little while to get around to your place but I assure you I will.

And it just keeps going and going.....

So are you tired of hearing about my birthday month yet? Well, too bad cause now its time for the recap. But before I do....let me just say....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POP! Lots of Hugs and Kisses! The checks from Uncle Sam will be rollin in soon!!

Mommy K got in on Friday and we were headed to the River Center to overdose on all that is scrapbooking. I picked her up at the airport and then had to figure out how to get to the River Center from there. I know how to go ONE WAY but have never had to drive from the other direction. I found it. I am good like that. We made our way through half of it then decided it was time for some nourishment so we left to head out to McGovern's for some food. We split a massive burger and it was very good! Back to the River Center for our all night scrap! She won a prize for the farthest traveled. I won a door prize for a paid weekend retreat in Chippewa Falls, WI! Woohoo! Got home and the house was decorated with streamers and balloons - gotta love those kids!

Saturday (The Day Cheeky was Birthed!) got up ate break fast and read my birthday cards from the kids and the cats. I have to scan these cards and let ya'll see them - I am tellin ya - I live with smart elects. Headed back to the convention to go through the part that we didn't see before. Then headed to Maple Grove for lunch and to hit some more craft stores. Came home for dinner - I had Lobster everyone else had honkers. After dinner we all headed to Dave & Busters (you know the adult version of Chuck E Cheese) and played. Directionally challenged Katie met us there later in the evening. Had a great time. Had some dude at the trivia game kept paying for me and Mommy K to play since it was my birthday. I think he just liked hearing us talk cause he knew right away we "weren't from around here". So I was on one side, K on the other - he southern in stereo ya'll. Got my tickets and bought a goofy bird that will be making its home in my office.

Sunday - The day of rest. Had breakfast then it was time for me and K to head downstairs and scrap! And scrap we did. For hours. Took a break to grab a bite to eat and get some supplies but then we were back at it again.

Monday - MOA!

Tuesday - Its time to take K back to the airport. I am sad to see her go. We have had a really great time.

NOW a really big THANK YOU TO:

Katie: I love my flamingo - and he keeps giving me the googly eye so I think he loves me too. And thanks for coming to hang with the Cheeky's!

Shell: That necklace it is beautiful - teenage daughter keeps eyeing it like I am gonna let her borrow it...yeah, right.

Mommy and Daddy: For all my goodies

Jenie: Loved my card! and keeping an eye on the mailbox hehe

EA: I love it when you sing to me! hehe

Brian and Melted Snowballs: Again, loved my cards - ya'll send some good ones!

Patti and Jenie: for thinking of me and wishing me Happy Birthday and helping to continue the celebration that is the birthday MONTH! (Ya'll know what I mean heehehehe and I love it!)

Cheeky - who is ok with being 35 because she has the best friends (real and internet) that anyone could ask for!

Its gonna be a BUSY BUSY day...

So are you excited? WE are at T minus 1 day people 1 DAY!!! (yeah you would think I was turning 21 wouldn't ya?...hehe)

Today is gonna be very busy for me. It is only 6:30am and I have already logged into work and prepped for my meeting. Now I have to jump in the shower and get myself ready. Then head down to "the room" to make sure I have all of my supplies in order (cause I should have been doing that all week but I am a slacker) because after my weekly meeting this chick is loading up the car with her supplies and heading down to the airport to pick up Mommy K and then we are headed to the scrapbook convention in St. Paul (I see you rollin your eyes...just stop it - stop it right now). We will be there all day and then stay for the crop so I won't be getting home until really really late. Like midnight late, like it will already be my birthday late!

As for tomorrow's festivities - who knows - its gonna be a fly by the seat of our pants kinda thing (Katie, Heather - if we come up with something good we will give you a call and you can join in if you would like).

I have already gotten some way cool gifts (that I will take pics of as soon as hubby gets home from Germany today). EA honey you will be jealous of what Katie sent me. Also, already got my gift from Mommy and Daddy (THANK YOU!).

OH so here is a story for ya. I get a package in the mail on Wednesday and Teenage Daughter was like:

Teenage Daughter: Who is this from? Who do we know that lives there? (referring to the town on the return address)
Cheeky: Hello??? you know the totally fantabulous chick that hung out with me at Rockin Rogers....(that would be Katie to you and me)
Teenage Daughter: oh yeah

As I proceed to open the box and see the inside package is wrapped teenage daughter takes it from me and says:
Teenage Daughter: Its not your birthday yet - you can't have this (and puts it behind her back)
Cheeky: Oh yes I can, (snatches it back) because it is my birthday MONTH! HA!

Cheeky - who is now gonna run and go sing in the shower. Any requests?
