Don't run away it's only me Don't be afraid of what you can't see Don't run away it's only me . . . Tuesday, October 30, 2007Not much in the way blogging fodder...So since Halloween is tomorrow I give you this......
In other news, I had the little talk with teenage daughter and she seemed to take it well with out pushing back. She was either #1 too tired from the events or #2 finally learning when to choose her battles. I am going with #1 here. Steps for Monday: I dunno. I was so swamped with work yesterday I had a 15 min break where I could jump in the shower. I did but when I got out I had to rush to get back to a call and didn't put the pedometer back on. Later in the day like 5ish I wanted to see where I was on the count and realized I didn't have it on...GRRRRrrrrr. So IF I had to guess and apparently I do, I would say somewhere in the 4-5000 range. Not a big walking day since I was tied to the desk all day. Labels: Horror, Teenage Daughter, Walking Monday, October 29, 2007Weekend Update with your host CheekyEver have one of those weekends where you are busy but not busy? Saturday morning got up early thanks to the screaming cat (who for the record is sitting beside me screaming as I type). So since I was up early, I started looking at my stamps and getting an idea for Turkey day cards (I am going to send them after all). Then, I went for a walk while the house was asleep. When I got back I see that Mr. Cheeky had made breakfast (as he always does) and then we were off. Mr. Cheeky and manchild were off to the first hockey practice of the season. Teenage daughter and I were off to shop. We were on a mission. She needed business clothes for a school function. I needed craft stuff. That is one of the pickiest people I know when it comes to clothes. She is small so finding the right size isn't the issue - her being picky is. ANYWAY....we found everything she needed AND was able to pay for it with an unused gift card we found last week when cleaning out the junk drawer. Gotta love it when that happens. Then we were off to the local stamp shop to pick up a stamp that I have been trying to find for months. I had them order it for me. They were slow enough about it but I finally got it! Now ya'll need to get to having babies so I can use it LOL! I also got all the card stock I was going to need for my Turkey day card idea. I get home and see that Shell was looking on ebay and found me the cutest ever turkey day stamp - now I have to bid. Now I have to change my idea for the card....or maybe not. I may not get it. Since Mr. Cheeky and manchild had gone fishing, I headed straight down to start on some cards. I figure I can do some of the ones that I had originally decided on and then if I DO win the stamp I can just do different cards (and ya'll will have to compare notes...haha). They turned out really cute - yes they did. Ordered Pizza for dinner (yes, again Shell - shut it) and then off to Target for some shopping for the house (you know food and stuff). Didn't get home and settled in until almost 9 o'clock. At that point we just played some Warcraft and vegged. Sunday: Up early again. Took teenage daughter to school (yes, on Sunday) to catch the bus for her function. She will be back after school on Monday. Stopped by Target to pick up Guitar Hero 3 oh yes, I did. Came home and started playing. Now, we play games on the 3rd level where the family room is. This is also the level where teenage daughter has her bathroom. DISGUSTING! I have had it. I figure at this point if she wants privacy, she has to earn it by keeping things clean. Otherwise, I will do it and anything and everything in those rooms is free game. I started with the bathroom. I pulled EVERY.SINGLE.THING out of it and scrubbed it from top to bottom. This is a small room ya'll and I was in there for almost half the day. Its purty now though and will be getting a paint job next weekend. If I had not been worn out from scrubbing that pit she calls a bathroom I would have started on her room. Its next. I am pretty booked for interviews Monday so she may have a final chance on the room....maybe. I lost the Turkey day stamp. Shell was watching it for me too but of course someone snuck in at the last couple of seconds and got it. Luckily I was offered a "second chance" so YEAH I got my turkey day stamp! Woot! Now I gotta pay and wait for shipping. Then while resting I decided it was time to be a Guitar Hero and a hero is what I became! OH I like this one. Some of the songs are pretty challenging and this one has a battle mode too! Took another walk to de-stress a little bit and then made dinner. It was an early night cause Mr. Cheeky had to get up at 3:30am to catch an early flight. He will be in Dallas all week again. So there you have it - a busy but not busy weekend. I am still tired and don't really want to make a pot of coffee just for me - but I am thinking I will. Friday's steps: 3761 (yeah - not so much this day) Saturdays steps: 10882 (woohooo broke the 10K mark) Sunday's steps: 8320 Labels: Crafts, Shopping, Walking, Weekend Update Friday, October 26, 2007Why do people have to be such PIA's???Ya'll read my posts (even the lurkers) and many times comment with relevant things to say about the topic at hand. I like that. No, I lurve that. What I have no tolerance for is this comment spam crap. Now, I have enabled the little word verification thing, as much as it annoys me, to try and avoid some of the "come see me naked on cam" or the "come see my site so I can sell you something" spam. For the most part it has been a good thing until this week. Apparrently, some web crawler or person or something picked up on my post this week about using the work HONKY and now, I keep getting this religious crap (and yes it is crap - I have my beliefs and yes I believe in God, but this stuff that is going in the comments is CRAP!) and if you weren't a believer, reading this junk would definately turn you off and push you away so I don't know why they do it. I am getting them every night on random older posts that have word verification in place. I have been pretty diligent in removing them right away but its getting on my last nerve and that is not somewhere you want to be. I have toyed with the idea of not allowing anonymous comments but then people, like my Pop (and others) won't be able to comment. I don't like that. I don't want ONLY those that have a google account to be able to comment. I want to leave it open to the masses (cuz I lurve the comments). I have also toyed with the idea of comment moderation for a little while but that won't stop them from commenting. I know in Wordpress and other such blog formats there are things you can do to prevent this crap. I don't want to switch at this point. Anybody have any suggestions other than not allowing anonymous comments? Now, after reading this you may thing I am in a foul mood. NOPE, you would be wrong. I am actually a little giddy and energetic and feeling domestic (again, I know I think I need to go to the doc about this domesticity thing). It is looking like a turn on the radio and dance around the house kind of day. Taking a break for Y&R of course....I mean let's not get ridiculous. OH and this needs to be mentioned too.....umm Guitar Hero III comes out on the 28th - oh yes it does and guess who is gonna be there getting her copy...oh yes I am. And this is pretty much what we will do after we get it. Oh, yes it is! I am gonna be a Guitar Hero!!! Thursday's Steps: 8884 Thursday, October 25, 2007I got tagged - oh yes I didSeems like somebody out there (ICSCN) seems to think she wants to know a little bit about yours truly (like doing 300 things on a 300 post wasn't enough??? hehe) so cause I *heart* her so....I will do it....the Tag is that I have to post 6 things about me and of course tag others at the end. 1. Each night before falling asleep I have a little ritual. I do "the roll" where I roll over on to my right side with my right arm under the pillow. The pillow must be just right under my head and neck. Then if I am comfortable, I will crack my thumbs and crack my toes and off to sleep I will go. Sometimes my toes won't crack (on one foot) and I will just not feel complete before going to sleep. 2. When eating honkers, I make my own special sauce for dipping. Its A-1 and ketchup mixed together but its oh so yummy. Mr. Cheeky mixes A-1 bold and Heinz 57 - I think Heinz 57 is awful. 3. I may have mentioned this before but I am proud of this one and I think it needs repeating. I can burp. Loud and long. I can put Booger from Revenge of the Nerds to shame - oh yes I can. AND walking seems to stir up the juices - so on my morning walk - I am burping - loud and proud. 4. Even though I hate dealing with it, and I am NOT ready for it, I have to admit, watching/hearing the snow fall (not while driving of course) is really beautiful. 5. I STILL feel bamboozled! I keep saying this BUT.....I have YET to see the Northern Lights and I am told that you can see them from here. I think it was just another ploy to get me here. 6. I love to drive - in the proper car of course. Ask Katie, she will tell ya. I love to drive. AND I don't have a problem doing a U-ey if I need to (Patti is my witness to this one). So there you have it. A few little known facts about the Cheekster. Who am I gonna tag....decisions decisions. Katie. Jana. Tommiea. OH - Keep an eye on that mailbox.....if you are on "my list" then you will be receiving your first annual Halloween Card by Cheeky. Hmmm Cards by Cheeky....I like that! Anywho, they all went out in the mail yesterday. Those of you that are a little farther out - you know, across the ocean, I sent yours a few days earlier. Hopefully everyone will have theirs by Halloween. So now, its off to find a Turkey day card design - just haven't been inspired for those yet. I am not sure if they are going to happen. NOW if you are jealous and wanted a card and didn't get one its either because #1 you didn't send me your address or #2 I lost it....but I am gonna go with #1 here. But be warned. Once I have your address you will be subject to random acts of card giving (well after the holidays anyway) at anytime during the year and without notice. I like to make them. I like to give them. And everyone likes getting stuff they don't expect in the mail (well good stuff, not bills and crap like that). So if you have surrendered your addy to me, you never know when you will get one (outside of the usual holidays of course). Wednesday's steps: 5557 Wednesday, October 24, 2007Letter to my catsMy dear wonderful darling kitties, You know how much your mommy loves you right? Well, I don't know which one of you is doing this so I am going to have to address you both. I know you are cute, and silly, and cuddly (well, your not cuddly Kitty Girl but we love you anyway), BUT whichever one of you keeps horking and hiding it is gonna be in big trouble. Just today, I wanted to enjoy the sunshine. I go downstairs to open the blinds on the sliding glass door and what do I see when I pull back the blinds? Evidence that one of you horked BEHIND the blinds in the door track. I don't even know how long its been there. I just know that when the birds are singing and the sun is shining I don't want to see a pile of....well....hork! (I would show you a pic (ala TKW) but some of ya'll are having breakfast and don't want to see it I am sure - I know I didn't). This is not the first time either. Whoever is doing this seems to think my craft room looks like a good hiding place for hork too. Stop! I am sure this is most likely a hairball issue but if you don't tell me how am I gonna know? You have to learn, if you are gonna hork, do it in front of someone so you can at least milk it and get some sympathy out of it. MMMmmmkay?? And since I am addressing ya'll at the moment , my darling kitties, let me make something else purrfectly clear. This house already hates me enough. I have burned and cut my hands and fallen down the stairs enough during the past two years. I don't need your help. So, when its the middle of the night and I need to get something to drink, and its dark, don't be laying on the third step down taking bets on whether or not I am gonna step on you and then proceed to fall down the steps. It WILL happen. AND I know ya'll like to follow me around the house all day. I sort of like that too but stop taking dares on which one of you is gonna run under my foot on the way down to make me fall. Capish? If ya'll be good and stop doing these things....Mommy will provide you with an endless supply of kitty crack until your dying days (bribery never hurts). Tuesday's steps: 7115! (not my goal but getting close). Tuesday, October 23, 2007I am spoiled (read that as thankful)Yes, I am. I can admit it. I have before but I think it needs repeating every now and then. I have great kids - both of them. They each have their individual issues - some the same (they are both slobs but they get that honest) some different (they are different ages and sexes after all). They don't always get along with us or with each other. But the issues I have with them are for the most part - not that big in the scheme of things. Mr. Cheeky will cook, clean, and do laundry (thanks to his mom and the Navy). Sometimes this can be annoying, other times its a Godsend. But there again, who among you wouldn't want to have this "problem"? They ALL put up with me (which is not an easy thing to do at times) and when I was having the horrible mood swings (which are no longer a part of my life thanks to me being med free since July - in case you are new - the meds were to fix a problem that created 3 more - the original problem was a pain but easier to deal with than raging mood swings so I went off the meds) they tolerated me and understood that wasn't really "me" even though it happened more times than not. I have some of the best blogger buds that anyone could ever ask for...yes I do. I get up each day to go and see what each and everyone of you are up to. Whether it is laughing "with" you (yeah that's it - WITH you) or lending a sympathetic ear (cause we all need to whine from time to time) or offering my 2 cents worth of advice (ok its more like opinion but you get my point). So this morning, raise what you are drinking (for me its dark Colombian roast - sweet and blonde) - here's to you (yes, even the lurkers) and in glory that is the Golden Girls (yes, Katie - I know you are all giddy now....)..... Thank you for being a friend Travel down the road and back again your heart is true, your a pal and a confidant. And if you threw a party, Invited everyone you knew, You would see the biggest gift would be from me and the card attached would say, Thank you for being a friend. edited to add: 1700 steps yesterday and yes its low, but in my defense I didn't wear the pedometer until after lunch so shut it mmmkay (you can give me crap with tomorrow's low number) Labels: Spoiled Monday, October 22, 2007Just a little PSA.....To the hiring manager at the local store (can't name it but if you live around this area it would be really easy to guess), When selecting a candidate that is going to be a potential employee (specifically a cashier), makes sure said candidate can interact suitably with the public. This is part of the job. This is a required skill. Your new employee even had Mr. Cheeky talking about him and that is very rare to have the man complain er discuss about someone. First of all, he tried to keep every one's discount card. NO NO NO. Then, he was looking for the tag on the new shirt I bought the man child, he finally found it (on the shirt tag, duh) and then proceeded to WAD it up and stuff it in the bag. Now I am not expecting a professional fold but don't wad the thing up mmmkay? I mean this guy was all kinds of special. I bought two bottles of juice, he set them to the side because he thought they had alcohol in them (#1 they don't sell hard alcohol or even any alcohol in bottles that resembled these in regular stores in this state and ummm #2 you should KNOW if your store sells alcohol) and I had to remind him to scan them so I could take them home. Then he asks the obligatory "would you like our credit card?" Our response, we have one....thanks. Then he looks at me and says....but don't you want a separate account? Ummm we already each have our OWN cards....but that really isn't any of your business is it? OH and he called the floor manager because the lady in front of us wrote a check, and when the deposit information printed on the check it printed under the endorse area....ummmm - he felt that was urgent and needed to be addressed by the manager immediately. So he felt the need to hold up the line waiting for her to come look at it. We had to request that he scan the tag that we are holding in front of him that is attached to the chair that is awkward and heavy but he chose to ignore cause he thought we were holding it there for exercise or something. He felt the need to comment on EVERY item that was purchased (I am really sorry I didn't have to buy tampons or something so he could ask me about my period). OH and he was whining because it was 6:54 and he gets off at 7 and he thought the needed to whine about having to check another order for the last 6 minutes he was on the clock. So, hiring manager, when you come across a potential employee that is special like this one, stick them in the back, in the stock room, in the cooler, any place where they do not have to interact with the public. I mean, I don't want you to discriminate against special people, just don't put them in jobs that #1 they are suited for and #2 will create angry customers. OH and if you feel the need to keep doing this, ummmm lets just say I have big connections at said store and I can contact people that will be taking a little bit more notice at your particular store. Capish?! Labels: PSA Friday, October 19, 2007I feel obligated....To give ya'll something to read. Like ya'll come here every week day and have nothing better to do but read what I have to write. I have been feverishly working on my 400 things post so while I keep working on that I will jump on the Meme wagon and give you this...... 1. YOUR ROCK STAR NAME: (first pet, current car) Patches Altima 2. YOUR GANGSTA NAME: (favorite ice cream, favorite cookie) Vanilla Bean Oatmeal 3. YOUR FLY “GUY/GIRL” NAME:(first initial first name, first 3 letters last name) W-Har (yeah that doesn't do it for me) 4. YOUR DETECTIVE NAME:(favorite color, favorite animal) Pink Flamingo (how original - rolling my eyes) Pink Cat somes in a really close second - I think I like that one better. 5. YOUR SOAP OPERA NAME:(middle name, city where you were born) Yvonne Denver (geesh it sounds like I am married to John Denver....sigh) 6. YOUR STAR WARS NAME: (first 3 letters last name, first 2 letters first name) HarWe (ok so right now I am thinking about my Daddy cause he is a big Star Wars fan and his name would be HorCh...bwahahahaha - I think I will call him that when we go down to visit in November - bwahahahaha). 7. SUPERHERO NAME: (2nd favorite color, favorite drink and add” the”) The Purple (Sierra) Mist - (now The Purple Mist is sorta cool) 8. NASCAR NAME:(first names of your grandfathers) James Jess - yeah that's sorta redneck 9. STRIPPER NAME:(favorite perfume, favorite candy) White Diamond Skittles 10. WITNESS PROTECTION NAME: (mother’s and father’s middle names) Beverly Richard (that sounds like a hollywood name so I guess when I go into protection I will be going there). Labels: Meme Thursday, October 18, 2007Things I learned from the Jeffersons....So yesterday afternoon I was watching me a re-run of the Jeffersons on TVLand - I love me some George Jefferson - yes I do (Weezy too). So as I was watching I was reminded of something that I had forgotten. Something that well, is just plain fun to say....HONKY! Honky, honky, honky....just say it out loud - its funny. Seriously, when was the last time you heard someone called a honky and more specifically when was the last time you heard it on TV? You know other than back in the day when we really didn't take ourselves so seriously and had a sense of humor and could laugh. So that got me thinking.....of all the derogatory terms for white people (Haole, Whitey, Cracker), I think honky is my favorite. Now I am sure that some people may find this offensive, especially in today's PC world. I still think its funny. In our house we regularly call each other names (cracka, crack head, crapper head, water head, etc - and don't ask me why most of them involve the word head - it just does) but we do it out of love. Seriously, just spend a day around us and you will hear us call each other very non PC stuff. To the outside world it is prolly offensive to us its just sayin I love you. If someone is reading my blog for the first time they may think I am a racist white girl. Nope they would be wrong - I am just a regular honky. We are probably the most non racist people you will ever meet. Picture this - I am out with friends and this is the make up of the group - 2 Germans, 1 Asian, 1 Tanzanian, 1 Mexican, 2 Brazilians and I am the only white one of the group. How is that for diverse? So that makes me wonder....what non PC terms do you use around your house that you find funny but to the outside world would be considered offensive? And just in case you are wondering - YES I have been a "victim" of racism. During my first year of college a "new" so called friend and I were talking and somehow got on the subject of Native Americans and when I said I had Cherokee (a fact of which I am proud) in me she was appalled and from that moment on treated me like I was dirt. I later found out in the town where she is from there is a huge problem between Native American's and "white" people..... so even though its not the same as what other ethnic groups go through, I can still appreciate not being liked merely because of your ethnicity. Tuesday, October 16, 2007Ya know....I loves me some wings and trivia...yes I do....never before has such a combination been so right. A marriage made in heaven it is. Its right up there with me and Mr. Cheeky.... But......I must admit.....I am ashamed. I am starting to believe that when Ted left me so did the trivia part of my brain (or so the Mr. says...). I came in second.......second........sacriledge!! It just ain't right. Nope it ain't right. Not right at all. But.......do you know what IS right?? Awwwww come on you know you wanna know.....in honor of Katie being all sickly with the crud (aka a cold) I decided I would drink a toddy in her name........a hot one and mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm it was sooooo yummy!! Yes it was!!! Oh wait, ya'll didn't come here today to hear about my wonderful wings, my defective trivia brain (thanks Ted), and toddies....ya'll came to find out what happened with "the call". Can we say "nosey much?" Bwhahaha kidding kidding....Well the long and short of it is.....they want me to work MORE. I was a little shocked. See, things have slowed for me. I have only been working on specific positions....they want me to do that MORE. More is good. I can do more. So the days of interviewing candidates all while sipping hot cocoa and wearing fuzzy slippers will continue....at least for now. Still not confident on how long but I ain't complaining. yeah, what's new......but last night I made the first batch of potato soup for the season...OMG ya'll it was the BOMB!!! It came out better than perfect. I am so good...hahaha! OK ya'll, I am having a "meeting" today and I think its the one I have been waiting for since I heard the company was being sold back in the summer (and umm they didn't tell me - I found out by reading the business journal uh huh I did). The deal has closed now. They have bought me out of my shares. I think this call is the one to tell me my time of working in my jammies I mean telecommuting is done. Its been a good run - almost 2 years. I am ok with this actually. I came to terms with it a long time ago. I am sure at some point I will have a little pity party for myself but it won't be right away - prolly after the holidays when winter starts getting to me. AND winter is right around the corner so noooo I won't be looking for anything outside the house for a while. I have thought about getting a little part time job in one of the local scrap shops cause I really love that and it would give me "playing money". So, we will see. BUT then again, I could be completely off base and the call can be something about new procedures since the buy out. We will see. Either way - I am prepared and will be fine. I am getting ready to mail out my Halloween cards at the beginning of next week (just have to buy postage) so if you want one and haven't sent me your address - get to it! We (the Cheeky family) will be traveling to NC in about 2 weeks to go visit the family (parents, sisters, brothers - of mine and the hubs). Its the only trip we will make before the holidays. While there, I intend to hit the Southern Living Christmas Show - yes I do! I have been going for several years now and I am happy to be going again this year too! Woot!!! So that is all I gots fuz ya today....well for this morning. The meeting isn't until late in the day so I will have to tell you tomorrow what it was about......... Monday, October 15, 2007BrrrrrrrrrrrSo Saturday was the river run. Mr. Cheeky had gotten the boat ready the night before. You know, washed it out, cleaned it up, made sure it would crank - that sort of stuff. We get up on Saturday morning and there was a nice lovely little layer of frost on the boat. Yep, frost. It was like 38 degrees when we woke up. By the time we get loaded up and on the road it was like ummm 44 degrees. Still chilly. We get to the St. Croix along with the others and we are in the water and ready to go....but one boat won't start. We sort of putz around waiting. Then they decide they are going to go get the boat worked on so we went without them. We headed up to Stillwater. We weren't going "that fast" so I could take it. BUT on the way back and heading down to the island where we would picnic.....Ummm yeah, I was an icicle. I had on a long sleeve t-shirt, a very thick sweat shirt, gloves, 180's (ear muffs) and then covered over with a thick wool blanket - I was still cold. But here is the kicker - here I am all bundled up and the dude in the next boat was in SHORTS!!! Guess after almost 2 years here my blood is still pretty thin. Now when we stopped for the picnic and I wasn't being slammed in the face with the cold air coming off the water (the water temp was 55 degrees) then the weather was very very nice. The sun was really warm. Its just when we were hauling butt down the river is when it was chilly. Overall had a good time. I didn't complain about being cold too much. The foliage was disappointing. I guess with all the weather lately the leaves really haven't changed that much. OH well, still a good time was had by all. Yesterday was sort of cold and rainy. We didn't do too much. Mr. Cheeky took the manchild shopping for some school clothes and I took teenage daughter grocery shopping. Yeah, we rock like that. Friday, October 12, 2007Friday RandomnessOK so I didn't sleep well last night. Kept having wild thoughts about what I am going to do with all that money I won. Conversations with the man child as we were working on his vocabulary homework (he was working, I was helping) Cheeky: you can use that word there? Man Child: Its called using your imagination mom.....(with attitude - yes the smart eleckness continues here at Chez Cheeky). Tomorrow is the river run. What is the river run you ask? Well, its an annual thing that occurs here with my neighbors (the only ones we associate with). We all basically take our boats down the Mississippi and the St. Croix rivers to view the foliage. Its nice but its freakin cold. Last year was our first year and all the other families had a really nice time laughing at me and my cold self. I was layered, bundled and under wool blankets and still cold. I suspect it will be the same this year. The temp is only going to be 60 and then being on the water going pretty fast - yeah I will be a icicle before all is said and done. Good Times. I need more sleep - I think I am going to go lay back down for a while - its early and manchild doesn't have to be up for another hour. Labels: Smart Eleck Thursday, October 11, 2007Ya'll need some money?I got this yesterday via email. This one sort of snuck up on me so I feel a little pressure. I am sure that there are things that you wanna know so start asking. Especially those of you that are new to the blog or are the "lurkers" (I know you are there I see you - I am the great and powerful Cheeky after all). Come on - I am sure you have an enquiring mind and I am sure you want to know - so ask. In other happenings, got the stitches out on Monday. Wait, got the STITCH out on Monday. I took the other ones out myself last Friday night. Why? you ask. Because they had come untied and were just hanging there so I couldn't NOT pull it out. Doc said its looking good. Its come open a little bit (but its healed enough inside that I think it will be ok). So now its time to keep ointment on it and try to soften that skin a little bit. You can't like hard skin on the heal. Its still a little sore just at the site but its getting better. I have been stiff and sore for a few days and I couldn't figure out why and now I know - its the weather. Yeah I am the old lady that feels the weather change in her bones. Shut it! OH and Shell has been on my case about posting some of my cards so...... for your viewing pleasure........(now this is just some of them if you want to see more, just let me know) Its sort of hard to see the detail but you get the idea. I have unleashed a monster. Teenage daughter has plans for the next couple of weekends to hit the TP circuit. "But Moooooooom its gonna snow before we know it - we have to do it while we cannnnnnnnn" She did ok for her first time out but she needed some pointers on how to do it. She will improve with time. She has a lot to live up to with her parents and their abilities, if she listens to us she will be up to speed in no time. OK that is what I have for you today. I think I will sing a little Hall and Oates to get the day started for ya..... What I want you've got And it might be hard to handle Like the flame that burns the candle The candle feeds the flame What I've got's full stock Of thoughts and dreams that scatter You pull them all together And how I can't explain Well, well you, you make my dreams come true Well, well, well you, you make my dreams come true On a night when bad dreams become a screamer When they're messin with the dreamer I can laugh it in the face Twist and shout my way out And wrap yourself around me Cause I ain't the way you found me And I'll never be the same Well, well you, you make my dreams come true Well, well, well you, you make my dreams come true Listen to this.... I'm down on my daydream Oh that sleepwalk should be over by now I know You make my dreams come true I've been waiting for you girl You make my dreams come true Labels: Crafts, Teenage Daughter Its about time- its been a while since there has been a post all about me.Teenage daughter here & I'm here to tell you all about Saturday (since you didnt get a recap of the weekend in yesterdays post). So I had the bff stay the night aka "L" and we woke up, chilled for a bit & then went to a joint called space aliens for the man childs birthday along with his other hyped up friends :). Came home and watched the man child for a bit when my 'rents left to go play BINGO for the second weekend in a row ruining both of my saturdays-geeze! but that didnt get us down. The "L" and I had made plans earlier in the week along with JAM (the twins) to go TPing. Ahhh yes the time has finally come. We had it all planned out but the only thing stopping us was our guts. We had asked a few months ago to go TPing but the response was very unsure so we were a little nervous to ask. I had mentioned something about it to Cheeky (mom) on Friday but I got little to no reaction. So while my parents were at the casino playing bingo me & "L" straighted up a bit & made a list. Yes...a list. Here it is : 25 reasons why you should let us go TP'ing! 1. We will make you proud 2. Practice makes almost perfect 3. We've been waiting a while-since March woman! 4. Gotta start somewhere and somehow 5. Willing to except our consequences 6. Snow season is almost here 7. You always tease & "egg" us on about how its done right but never let us go. 8. We have common sense and won't do anything stupid 9. There is such thing as payback (to the one kid who got me and "L" in trouble for dingdong ditching my house >_< ) 10. It will be worth our while 11. Something to tell our kids like you tell us 12. We will make you proud 13. Time to loosen up and live 14. Teen and highschool years are supposed to be the best 15. Memories are precious 16. You would be considered an even "cooler" mother than before -yo! (brownie points?) 17. You can post this list on your blog 18. You will be "L"'s hero for life and to prove it she will tattoo your name on her badonkadonk :) 19. We will grow to be TP professionals 20. Weather is perfect 21. We will take a picture for you. 22. We can act non-suspicious 23. For the experience and right to say "been there-TP'd them" 24. Long live the family tradition 25. We will make you proud Yes ^ that is a tad bit cheesy but whatever works right? Haha so after bingo we brought my mom down into my room to read her our list but that did not work because she was "tired" and said we would eventually have to ask my dad. So we did and to OUR SURPRISE which was a HUGE SHOCK he said we could go (we think it was because we were getting that one kid who rang our doorbell and ran in the middle of the night back :) ) haha we didn't know how to react...so we went. And as we got outside of the house and started walking we saw neighbors out in their driveway at 1:00 in the morning how convenient is that?? So we turned around to go the long way...which was a waste because there was people that way too. Just our luck! So we came back in the house and asked what to do and the 'rents just said to walk past them that they couldn't do anything to us. Well lets just say we were very paranoid. We were on our way and got to JAMS safely and climbed through their bedroom window - just to make it dramatic and sneaky even though their mom knew about what we were doing. So we went, TP'd the crap outta that kids house, and came home thrilled and couldn't believe what we had just done and the feeling stayed for quite a while. In the morning, we decided to go on a "bike ride" to take pictures realizing that it had rained right after we went to sleep which is quite hilarious. On our way home the people next door were getting in there car and asked if we were going on a early bike ride? We put the guiltiest grins on and said "yep!". OK so end of story and that was our exciting Saturday night. Labels: Teenage Daughter Monday, October 08, 2007HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN CHILD!!!9 Years ago today.....you came into the world (interrupting my nap). I was ready for you to be here...... The day before Just look at that cute face.... But there was no freeloading to take place here - you had to earn your keep.. You were so proud of your new shoes... You let your sister and her friends use you as a life size doll and dress you up in my nighty..... Just look at that face - never shys away from the camera.... HAPPY 9TH BIRTHDAY MAN CHILD!!! We Love you! Now ya'll delurk and give my little man some love mmmmkay?? Oh and ummm come back tomorrow - the teenage daughter and her friend are going to hijack my blog for tomorrow's post.....should be interesting.... Friday, October 05, 2007Insert expletive here..... #%$^&!!!Yeah, I am an idiot. Foot was feeling better. I could walk about 90% normally - still favoring it just a bit cause it was a little bit sore but getting along fairly well. Then yesterday afternoon I started getting really sharp pains at the site where stitches are. It started throbbing. I looked at it....yeah, it split back open. The stitches are still there (thank goodness I didn't rip them out) but they are supposed to come out Monday (wanna take bets on if that is still gonna happen now? - what is it with me and betting lately? Must have bingo on the brain or something but I digress....). So, I am not a happy camper right now - no I am not. I am gonna stay off it as much as possible today so it can close back up. #$%^&%%!!!! So....how is your Friday? Thursday, October 04, 2007I've had all I can stands ....I can't stands no more!So I know I was MIA yesterday, did ya miss me? Katie was talking about purging on her blog this week and I took one look around my office and said "yep I gotta do it - just can't take mess and crap anymore". Yes, I have conversations with myself and for the record they are the best conversations I have ever had. I have great opinions and I typically tend to agree with myself but sometimes I don't and that's when the fights start - it can get pretty ugly - I won't talk about it now. Anywho, back to purging. So since I was inspired after a pretty full day of work I decided it was time. OH.MY.GOODNESS. Yeah, I was working in here all day. I took a break long enough to take the kids to the China Buffet and then back at it. I cleared out clutter, I threw stuff away (and when teenage daughter was doing the trash run last night before it comes on Thursday - she called me wasteful that I was throwing stuff away -like dried up never used pens and note pads that had like 1 sheet left on them - yeah she dug them out - my own little dumpster diver - I am so proud). I reorganized the desk and took the monstrosity of an organizer OFF that wasn't really getting used except to hold junk - now there is a nice little one and lots of working space. I dusted the shelves, blinds (ewww they were disgusting but we won't talk about that) picture frames and my trusty little decision making devices (my 3 magic 8 balls - they are consulted on a regular basis - we they all agree - its rather freaky - and in case you are wondering, I have a regular black one, a green muppets one that will give you things the Muppet's would say, and a yellow superman one. I still can't find the tan smart eleck one I saw in the store once - bummer). I rearranged and vacuumed. Overall it was a productive day. The fact that I was domestic on my own accord means that it really was a pit (cause I am NOT domestic like that) but it is oh so nice walking in here this morning to get my blog on. So clean and organized. Wanna start a pool on how long that's gonna last?? Go on, you know you want to, you won't hurt my feelings - just give me a 10% cut off the top and we will call it even. OH and did you know that it is ALSO Jana's birthday MONTH too? You didn't? Well go visit her and give her happy wishes, and greetings and show her some birthday love - go on - go do it. Labels: Motivation, Smart Eleck, Teenage Daughter Tuesday, October 02, 2007Back to our regularly scheduled programmingOk enough Ted talk already. Let me give you a little weekend update. Friday night was homecoming at the highschool so the teenage daughter went to the game and festivities while Mr. Cheeky, the man child and I stayed home. We liked it that way. We sort of made it an early night. It had been a rough week so we started watching Fantastic Four (yet again - but prepping for the release of the Silver Surfer that comes out today and I will be purchasing even though we have already seen it in the theaters...but I digress)...where was I - OH yeah, we started out watching it down stairs then midway through headed upstairs to bed and finished it there. Well some of us finished it - others ....well lets just say there was a little background noise. Saturday. My hobbling around was getting easier and less painful so we did a quick clean on the house. Mr. Cheeky and I - ok well I had the bright idea of going to play bingo at the casino, Mr. Cheeky came along for the ride. I love going to the casino to eat at the buffet and play bingo. I am an old lady like that. I have always loved playing bingo. I never win but I like to play. I will be one of those blue haired cat lady's that lives down the street that has a house full of cats and goes to play bingo every week when I retire - Yes I will - you wait and see. Anywho, during intermission I decided I had some more $$ to waste and got five dollars worth of 25cent pull tabs. I am pulling and wow I won 25cent. Oh wait there is another one and another one - woohoo! So at the end of the night I go turn in my tabs to get my whole 1.25 and the lady goes "ummm you know this one says 25 DOLLARS don't you?" What?! Sweet. I turned 5 into 25 - it must be my lucky night! (we won't discuss the fact that we spent like $125 on food and bingo - that doesn't count cause I won $25!). Sunday. I went to a Stampin Up party with Suzie while the Mr. Cheeky and teenage daughter stayed home. Man child went to the movies with his buddy. I bought a few new things so I can't wait to get them. Speaking of....Saturday is world card making day and I have some events to attend. Woot!!!! Still hobbling on the foot but not as bad. Actually I can put it down now and put a little weight on it. I suspect I will be walking fairly normal in the next day or so. Yeah, pretty uneventful again this weekend which is fine by me. Things are going to get really busy really fast and I like this time of year - you know, the calm before the storm. Mr. Cheeky is traveling again this week (only for a few days) so I will be playing again (in my craft room people - geesh get your minds OUT of the gutter mmmkay?). I need to get some Halloween decorations up. I need (ok want - but isn't that the same thing?) to shop for more Halloween decorations. OH one more thing....yesterday started the birthday month for Patti.....so go show her some love - all month - seriously - just go do it! Labels: Crafts, Walking, Weekend Update Monday, October 01, 2007In Remembrance.......You were only in my life for a short time but you affected me in ways you could not imagine. Born July 21, 2007 you were so small and tiny. I hardly even knew you were there. Ahhhh but you grew so quickly. In just a week I could see how much you had grown and changed. Although you would be considered small by the outside world, to those whose lives you touched you were HUGE. You were tenacious. You were your own man in a world of conformers and there was nothing that anyone could do that would make you change your ways. You liked to be cared for. You liked to be babied in a way that most do not receive. You had a way of making yourself known even to those that just knew you for a short time. You would not be ignored. But then you received the news. Your time with me was coming to an end. It was time for you to move on and explore the world outside your sheltered home. And so, on September 27, 2007 you were gone. I only hope that I was a good friend to you and that you will remember me and take comfort in knowing that there will always be a permanent reminder to the place you called home. Although the door is closed, it will forever be remembered as your home with noticeable markings where the door was sealed. Bon Voyage Ted! Cheeky - who is singing in honor of Ted today.......a little Queen.... Ooh, let's go Steve walks warily down the street With the brim pulled way down low Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet Machine guns ready to go Are you ready, hey, are you ready for this Are you hangin' on the edge of your seat Out of the doorway the bullets rip To the sound of the beat - yeah Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone and another one gone Another one bites the dust, eh Hey, I'm gonna get you too Another one bites the dust How do you think I'm going to get along Without you when you're gone You took me for everything that I had And kicked me out on my own Are you happy ? Are you satisfied ? How long can you stand the heat Out of the doorway the bullets rip To the sound of the beat Look out Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone and another one gone Another one bites the dust, eh Hey, I'm gonna get you too Another one bites the dust Hey Oh take it Bites the dust - bite the dust hey Hey Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust, ow Another one bites the dust, hey hey Another one bites the dust, heeey Ooh show down There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man And bring him to the ground You can beat him You can cheat him You can treat him bad and leave him When he's down, yeah But I'm ready, yes I'm ready for you I'm standing on my own two feet Out of the doorway the bullets rip Repeating to the sound of the beat Oh yeah Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone and another one gone Another one bites the dust, yeah Hey, I'm gonna get you too Another one bites the dust Shoot out Hey, alright
